  1. Anybody seen that video on the BBC Sport website where the little Chelsea mascot goes to shake Gerrards hand in the tunnel and as Gerrard is about to shake it, he pulls his hand away and does that think where he puts his thumb on his nose and wriggles his fingers. That was really funny. I think the clip was off MOTD2 so you would've seen it on that.

  2. I think they are good, but all the hype is really pissing me off. Flicked thourght the NME the other day (the issue with the best 100 ever British albums), and the Arctic Monkeys album was 5th. I find that a load of bullshit. I think it's a good album for now but I very much doubt that people will still be listening to it in 5/10 years time like some of the classics in that list.

  3. 2230: Just 90 minutes until the window closes and it looks possible that Charlton midfielder Danny Murphy could be on his way to Premiership rivals Tottenham.

Charlton boss Alan Curbishley reveals after his side's 0-0 draw against West Brom that "something could happen" between now and midnight but if it does it would be "of Murphy's making".

  4. Yeah, he's supposed to be pretty good. Suprised he went Pompey and no other bigger clubs were interested. I fancy Pompey to stay up now with all the signing they've made.

Also, Arsenal have sold Bentley to Blackburn on a permanent and Owusu-Abeyie has joined Spartak Moscow. I though this Owusu-Abeyie was supposed to be the best youngster coming through at Arsenal. Only saw bits of him so can't really comment. I think Bentley still has some potential and it's good he has found a decent team where he can get first team football.

  5. Michael Brown looks set to move to Fulham for about £1.5m. Fair price I suppose. When he played he did his job, but unfortunately is way behind in the pecking order.

According to The Times, we are going to launch a late bid for Danny Murphy. Have to admit I was a bit disappointed when he didn't come last summer, but I feel he'll be a lot more tempted now considering the position we are in.

The other bit of news is from The Independent, they say that Athletico Madrid have told us that £20m will be enough for us to get Fernando Torres, although it will probably have to wait until the summer to be done. What a deal that would be! Although I'm sure we know that we've been linked with several big name players before only for nothing to happen so we will just have to wait and see.

  6. Eriksson to quit after World Cup

Sven-Goran Eriksson will quit as England coach following this summer's World Cup finals.

Eriksson met with FA officials on Monday and will leave the job after six years in charge.

The 57-year-old Swede said: "I am happy that we have reached this agreement and can now continue our preparations for the World Cup.

"It is important to stress how committed I am to success this summer. Let's go and win the World Cup."

A compensation deal has been agreed on Eriksson's £4m-a-year contract, which was due to run out in 2008.

The England coach continued: "I know that I have the full support of the players and the FA.

    SVEN'S SUCCESSOR

    Sam Allardyce 5/2

    Steve McClaren 7/2

    Ottmar Hitzfeld 8/1

    Martin O'Neill 10/1

    Steve Bruce 12/1

    Sir Trevor Brooking 20/1

    Kevin Keegan 100/1

"I care passionately about this job and I want everyone to know that.

"I have always enjoyed the incredible support of the fans and I know how important they will be to us in Germany."

Eriksson has come under increasing pressure following an interview with an undercover reporter from the News of the World.

The latest revelations, published on Sunday, had him accusing Premiership managers of receiving illicit payments from transfer deals.

He has also been linked to jobs at Manchester United and Chelsea since taking over from Kevin Keegan.

FA chief executive Brian Barwick said: "The FA and Sven felt it was important to clarify his future.

"There has been so much speculation surrounding this matter in recent weeks and months, it was important to resolve it now.

"This is the right outcome and I would like to thank Sven and his advisors for their tremendous co-operation.

"Our main objective is giving Sven and the England team the best chance of achieving success at the World Cup and Sven is definitely the man to lead us in Germany."

Eriksson was watching West Ham play Fulham on Monday when the announcement was made at Soho Square.
