  1. Yeah, I would've been happy getting beaten by a score like that too. Unfortunately I got beaten by an average score because my score was shit. As usual. 13 is the highest score I've seen since I've been running it (4 seasons). There might have been a 13 when Scott was running it, but certainly not any higher. I think I still have all the files somewhere, so I'll investigate.
  2. Just be thankful neither of you were playing JohnnyPerfect. (Do I really have to watch this topic every time I come here? )
  3. Prison inmate is no longer bottom! My apologies for the delays in the last week - still not with it yet after my holiday.
  4. Back in business! And I started back with getting the worst score out of everyone. Universal balance has been restored...
  5. Everything is updated. Quite a low scoring week except for hackerjack.
  6. OK, I've added a 'Last Week' page. Let me know if it's OK.
  7. Sorry for not replying, I could've sworn I was 'watching' the topic... The error message about not being authorised was pointed out on my forums too and that's fixed now (I was just hiding the pages until they were needed, but forgot to take some code out before linking to them). As for the points system - it's 0 for a wrong prediction, 1 for a correct outcome and 3 for a correct score. And yes, it's just that we all did badly in the first week - there's a bit more variety in the scoring this week. I'll work on getting a section for previous weeks' predictions and results for you. Never really thought of that before, but it makes sense! Will the previous week be enough or would you prefer to be able to look back at all of the weeks in the cycle? The website has been updated and you can now submit for Week 3.
  8. The website has been updated and you can now predict for Week 2. This week's games are Euro 2012 qualifiers and they're played on Friday, so you'll have slightly less time to predict/update. Sorry to those who lost in the first week! Thankfully I wasn't one of them.
  9. Hi all, For those of you wondering what I'm on about, please see here. I've got most of the new system up and running, so the first set of games will be this weekend (28th/29th)... which works out nicely because this is the first weekend of games for a couple of the European countries. I will be contacting everyone very shortly with your login details and everything you need to know to start predicting. For easy reference, the link to the mini-site is http://www.xboxelite.co.uk/predictions We have 16 players taking part, so there will be enough time to fit in a full cycle before Christmas with a small break when I go on holiday. After a short break over Christmas and New Year, the league will return with a new cycle. And if there's time after that before the season ends I'll have some fun games to finish things off. The fixtures aren't up yet, but they will be before the first games take place, and the table and stats will appear after the first week. I'll update this topic when new weeks start, but don't worry if you miss it because I'll send you all a PM/email with the details and you'll get a remind each week too (usually on Thursday or Friday). There's a few people from my website playing too, so that's why you might not recognise a few of the names. If you want to chat with them, then please feel free (you'll need to sign up if you want to post) - forum topic. If you have any questions please just let me know and I'll do my best to answer them. I hope you all have fun and good luck to everyone! (I can assure you that you won't need it if you're playing me...)
  10. Hi all! I'm still working on the website for the Prediction League, but I'm pretty sure I'll have it done tomorrow night. Just thought I'd let you know that I'm not forgetting about it. If anyone else still wants to join, it's not too late! Just post here and I'll get you added too.
  11. Thanks for all of the interest, folks! I think I've got 12 people in total now, which is the number I usually start with - but I'll happily welcome a few more if anyone else still wants to join. I don't think I'll be able to catch the first games of the season, but I should catch the second weekend (21st/22nd August). You'll all receive a message/email next weekend telling you all of the details of the contest and what the first set of games will be.
  12. Got one taker so far. I'll hopefully be sorting it out this weekend. Anyone else want to join in?
  13. Hi all, I know Scott was popular here partly for running a wrestling predictions contest, however he also used to run one for football (soccer) too. He ran it for a few years when he was in high school and during the first couple of years of doing his degree at uni, but he had to give it up to put all of his energy into his studies (which clearly paid off!). I then took the contest over and ran it for 4 years, however I didn't do it for the 2009/2010 season due to lack of interest. However, I've decided to revive it in honour of Scott (as the Scott McFly Prediction League, or SMPL) for the 2010/2011 season and thought I'd post here to see if there were any football fans that would be interested in playing. I already have some interest from people on the forums on my website but I could probably use a few more to make it a bit more exciting. Here's a quick summary of what happens in the contest - - Each week I pick 6 football games for everyone to predict - one from each of the following countries - England, Scotland, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. - Everyone predicts what they think the score will be - you get 1 point for the correct outcome (home win, draw, away win) or 3 points for getting the outcome and score correct. - At the start of the 'cycle' (usually two cycles per season), fixtures are created so you play a different person each week. - If you win against your opponent for that week you get 3 points for the main league; if you draw, you get 1 point in the league. 'Prediction Points' are also recorded in the league, which is your total points from all 6 games each week (this is basically the equivalent of the 'Goals For' total in real football leagues and is used to determine who is placed higher when more than one person has the same number of league points). - In the past I've usually had 12 people playing, so the league would run for two 11-week cycles (one before Christmas and one after). If I get a few more players I'll just extend the league and the cycles will take a bit longer; if I get a lot more players I'll create a 2nd Division with promotions and relegations at the end of the season. I'll be getting the system ready over the next few days and sending out emails to those that wish to join at the weekend (hopefully), and with any luck we'll be able to catch the first week of the English and Scottish leagues. The league will be run from my website, but I'd be more than happy to post up regular updates here too if there's enough interest. I'm sorry if I've made it sound complicated, but it's really just a case of logging into a page and typing in some numbers before a certain date and time. So, if anyone is interested, please post in this thread, PM me here, or email predictionleague@xboxelite.co.uk.
