  1. Just finished my 2011-2012 season with Barnet in the Championship. Was the first crack at it and I have a young team so I was pegged to finish 24th and for good portions of the middle of the season it looked like that would be what happened. David Martin could stay healthy if I wanted him to, so Rob Burch resumed his position and play ace in the last two+ months when we went on a sick run of form to stay up. From March on our record was 5 wins, 3 draws, and 2 losses. Ended up staying up by a point with Coventry, Rushden, and Wolves going down. Was frustrating because we were a mid table team goals wise but we allowed the most in the league. Anyway signed a couple ex-Chelsea defenders in the offseason and got Lee Miller on a free who I'm hoping can be a consistant goal scorer because besides Tom Craddock, I've struggled to find another striker who finds the back of the net more than once every 2 months. Also I was losing money like no other even though I was way under budget to the mysterious 'Other'. My chairman decided to take out a loan for like 4.3 million pounds and then begin construction to add an extra 9000+ seats to my 5000 seat(only 2000 of which were actually seated) stadium so apparently I'm ground sharing at Loftus until February 2013.

  2. Sold Georgie Boyd for circa 300K and a couple of cup runs and promotion without spending anything then picked him up at the end of the first season on the transfer list.

Just double checked signing value £350k + signing on fee of 30% from Bradford who got him on a freebie. Had very bad luck with injuries. Broken ankle out for 3 months, broken wrist for 2 months and a few strains for 3 weeks/month at a time so I guess all the injuries led to them seeing him surpluss to requirements. Only had a couple of week long absences for us so been lucky so far.

  3. Cleveland should petition the league to get their name changed to the Cleveland Lebron James and Four Other Guys. Absolutely disgusting performance, he hit every shot in the book and then created a few more for fun. Really hoping he gets to the Finals because the league really needs him to be a huge success ala Jordan.

  4. I've listened to it a few times since getting it at midnight(pre-order on iTunes) and I can see where people wouldn't like it, but I actually do. I really like Shadow of the Day, What I've Done, Hands Held High, and No Roads Left based on my first few times of listening to them. It's a little bit too politically driven for me, but that's about my only complaint thus far.

  5. Hmm, just started a game with Dinamo Kiev. This will probably seem really stupid, but how do you delete e-mails/messages?

Also, anyone else take some 'big' clubs from smaller leagues to see if they could lead them anywhere? It seems like most of you just grab English teams (Which is understandable, really).

  6. New Preview

A new preview, looks like some more screens and videos are also included. IGN says there is still a lot of work to be done before release but it's a huge step up from the last time they played...that worries me. I mean, we're close to two months from release. It's a long time in some perspectives but still.

Looking at the videos I'm not convinced about this yet, it looks a little robotic and like not much of an improvement from last year. Maybe even a step back? I dunno, maybe I'm being too critical. I feel like I may be, but I was looking for big things out of this game and I'm not sure that it will deliever.

  7. We had a poll about the outcome of a Sherk/Mayweather fight before, didn't we? Regardless, Sherk would probably beat the pretty off him, he'd just be called "Boy" from then on.

Yes, we did, and I was about the only one who thought Mayweather would win.

I didn't see the fight, just the numbers and the first couple of rounds. Sounds like De La Hoya threw a lot more punches but Mayweather did just "outbox" him.

  8. I agree with 9 of the players. McCarthy or Yakubu instead of Berbatov and David James instead of Van Der Sar. And I'm a United fan, by the way. Unsure about Gerrard though, I'd possibly go for Essien instead.

Edit: I've changed my mind. I now think Rooney instead of McCarthy/Yakubu/Berbatov. :shifty:

  9. I started a game as Ireland manager a while back, cus even I could do a better job the Staunton. And I did, qualifying for Euro 2008, even getting to the quarter finals. I had bled in a lot of youngsters, Stokes scoring goals left right and centre, and got rid of all the crap in the squad. Went ahead and qualified for the next world cup with ease.

Then the Ajax job became available, so I took that and waved the Ireland job goodbye. Was kinda pleased when the re hired Mick McCarthy as manager, since i thought he wouldnt do half as well as I did. Bastard only went and beat Argentina 3 - 1 in the final, with MY carefully nurtured players. I hate Mick McCarthy!

  10. Holy shit, two wins from two over Easter. Against teams that, this time last year (and for several years before that), we'd be scrapping for points with down their end of the table.

Now we're left with a very real chance of a playoff place. Although the last game of the season, which will almost certainly be decisive, is away at Hartlepool...

    ... bugger.

They can be beaten, from experience of taking 6 off them this season.
