  1. Tonight's episode was alright. Started slowly, the ending was pretty good but it kind of left more questions than answers. Inevitably there are always episodes like this in every season of every show so I'm not too bothered, especially since next week appears to see things ramp up quite a bit.

  2. Just remembered something else that annoyed me - if all the crows in the world died off, and the Autobahn society was somehow able to track this, wouldn't they have maybe told somebody about it? Like what happened with the honeybees the other year?

Well also there's the fact that bees are important and crows are annoying and nobody likes them. But yeah as was mentioned, not all of them died off, it was just a spike.

  3. Wasn't the thing coming out of the ground emitting some kind of mist, radiation or heat (something that blurred the sky), I didn't notice a mushroom cloud anywhere?

Also, great show, despite the fact one of my mates was annoyingly talking over the entire show about cars to me when I showed no interest (seriously, if that were a movie theater I'd have punched him), I thoroughly enjoyed that episode for it's story movement, we've seen the characters set their bases, now we're seeing the base of the main story really engage. Going to rewatch tonight (without the interruptions), but I can honestly say this is one of my favourite new shows for quite some time.

You might be right about that. It also kind of looked like what you might associate with a sonic boom. Hopefully we'll get some answers on Thursday.

  4. I'm thinking whatever happened, somebody (clearly not the CDC) did investigate it and found out how to replicate it on mass. I don't think it's as easy as saying it was some toxic gas. There will be a twist along the way.

*EDIT* So on ABC they have these flash cards things, some interesting information. The episode that catches up to April 29th 2010 will air on April 29th 2010. D. Gibbons is named for Dave Gibbons who was one of the principle illustrators of the Watchmen series. The kangaroo significance will be addressed within the first 6 episodes supposedly.

Also after repeated viewing, I'm sticking with it looking like a mushroom cloud as opposed to something that came out of the ground.

  5. So that Kraut was a real d-bag. I'm not sure what happened there at the end. Did that little kid see some kind of a mushroom cloud? I don't know. Anyway the crows dying was pretty interesting too. I wonder what's going to happen with Cho too, he's kind of a shallow character so far, I'd like to see some depth created with him.

  6. Unrelated thoughts:

-Good on him for burning the bracelet...seems to me like if you're going to be drunk, defenseless, and have gunmen after you, you'd *want* to do things to change the future. On the same note, why not move the things around on that bulletin board? Keep the same clues, but on different parts of the board.

-Speaking of the board, is Main Guy (can't remember his name) focusing too much on recreating what he saw in his vision, at the expense of pursuing other leads? When the Condoleeza Rice lady mentioned how they need to stop it from happening again, I thought maybe that meant we would see these flashfowards happening again and again, more and more frequently until we're in April and it's at the point where it's almost impossible to tell what's happening in real-time and what's in the future (thus Main Guy goes back to drinking and has trouble solving the puzzle, plus the bad guys can move while he's flashforwarding). But then I figured this was only because I'd read The Accidental Time Machine recently and threw that theory out the window.

-So Noh's going to die, and the KGB is going to be involved at some point. I have to say that unlike ECK, I'm less interested in the clues they're giving us and far more in what they're not saying. Of course there's going to be connections between everything we're introduced to (I'm not expecting much in the way of red herrings), it's much more interesting to me to figure out this stuff before we get it.

-Didn't we get The Wife meeting The Lover at the end of the first episode? And wasn't it in a slightly different situation? And didn't they reuse the "we're all prophets" scene? What's up with that?

    Still happy though.

You might be right although I remembered both as being part of the look ahead to upcoming episodes portion. I'd have to go back and watch again to make sure.

  7. Yep amazing again. I'm super pumped about the rest of the season. Really wondering who that guy at the doll factory was. This is getting exciting and with the revelation that D. Gibbons made the call during the blackout I'm starting to get jacked about this season.

  8. Yeah I thought it was great too. I actually have the book it's based on but I'm trying to wait to read it so it doesn't spoil the show for me.

The tv show is similar but not entirely similar. For instance in the book they see about 21 years into the future I believe as opposed to 6 months. Also I believe the main characters in the book were astro physicists.
  9. Gotta love Fergie time. Hey ref, play till we score plz. kthx. SAF. The sight of him hugging and joking with the fourth official was disgusting. Luckily Hughes is a much classier man than I am, because I would have never shaken that red nosed twat's hand. And then his quotes after the match? For being such a small club, we sure have that cunt bothered.

Graham Poll: In my after dinner speech I often tell how I got the ‘hairdryer’ from Alex Ferguson on one of my first visits to Old Trafford for not knowing one of the rules of football; at the home of Manchester United you play until they win!

For as long as I can remember fans have had the suspicion that Ferguson has an influence over referees decisions and appointments and with Mike Riley - one of ‘Fergies favourites’ - having taking over as the head of refereeing for the PGMOL, they will be looking even closer at the referees at the home of the Champions.

I mean seriously, when will the FA look into this?

As the guys said above, the math was correct. They worked it out on MOTD and Owen's goal was a second over the time that should of been added on and that actually wasn't including the ten seconds for Barry kicking the ball away at the free kick.

Can we stop shitting on SAF now? He didn't add the time on and as I said before, he doesn't hold a gun to anybodies head. It's the officials that did it. I'd love them to start looking 'closer' to the referees at Old Trafford, maybe you should do as well, then you might realise how laughable you sound in blaming SAF.

The refs make mistakes at the Swamp because SAF says things like this

to them and gets away with it. Of course they would be intimidated into favoring United in that case.

  11. Adebayor is a cunt.

Though, it was amusing that he runs the full length of the pitch to antagonise the very fans who called him lazy.

    This, times a million.

What a complete and utter cock that guy is. Also, Arsenal had Eduardo banned for the dive after they reviewed it, so surely it's justice that Adebayor is banned AND fined for the disgusting kick to the face of RVP. It was one of the most intentional ones I've actually seen as well, so it's appalling he wasn't sent off on the day and if they don't follow up with a ban for him, it'll be a disgrace. Plus that on to the fact he could of caused a riot for his celebration. Biggest tit in football right now? Probably.

Oh fuck off. You had one of the dirtiest players in the history of football play for you in Roy Keane and I bet you loved his assault of Haaland. Not to mention the chuckle brothers have both run the full length of the pitch to celebrate in front of City fans at different times during their careers. No charges for them. And if Stanislas and all the other players in the West Ham/Millwall game weren't charged, no way Adebayor should be.

What on gods name are you going on about? What the hell has this got to do with Keane? For the record though, the stuff with Haaland was disgusting to be quite frank.

It's pathetic to say Adebayor shouldn't receive a ban for this. Eduardo just got punished for diving, let's not forget that kicking players in the head is just as bad, actually no, it's worst. As somebody said yesterday, a few inches the other side and it COULD of took out RVP in the eye and potentially even blinded the fucking guy, yet Adebayor deserves to get away with it? I'd understand if it was a sheer accident, but it's one of the most blatant and disgusting things a player has done in the Premiership as of late. I've got no clue why you're talking complete nonsense about past stuff. Anybody who thinks the Adebayor stuff was justified is a complete and utter fucking moron, period. I'm no Arsenal fan and don't greatly like RVP, but you don't kick somebody in their face like that.

Anywhere on the face is a couple of inches on the eye but if he catches him on the chin, nowhere near as big of a stink is made. Yeah it was ugly but to say it's the most blatant ever is ridiculous. 3 games at most and we should be able to appeal. Plus it's not as though Van Persie hasn't done the same in the past, which I have shown.

Sorry, but what exactly are you doing? Firstly, I didn't say it's the most blatant 'EVER'. And secondly, I have no clue why you're bringing up past incidents. I'm not sitting here and saying RVP hasn't done anything in the past or anybody else hasn't. That's the past, not now. Do you want the FA to go back five years and start punishing people or something? This incident happened a few days ago, that's the big difference. I don't see what an incident from a season or whatever ago has to do with any of this. It doesn't matter if you think RVP is a dick (and he's certainly not a player I like a great deal), it'll NEVER justify what Adebayor did.

Are you too blind to actually take off your rose tinted glasses and see that? You can post one hundred previous incidents if you wish, it'll never change any of what Adebayor did. I'm sure if he came to Old Trafford next week and got stamped in the face, you'd be crying bloody murder and demanding something be done. It wouldn't of matter if Adebayor caught him simply on the ear or part of his hair, he still aimed a so called 'attack' on RVP, which simply isn't on. You really need to stop being biased.

Claims of bias coming from you is rich, but I'll play your game. I'll admit I'm biased here, but I'll be back when there's an incident with United and I promise you with players like Scholes, Rooney, and Vidic, there will be and we'll see what position you take.

  14. Rennes are claiming City have committed an ever more clear-cut example in signing Jeremy Helen than Chelsea did. Except Lens filed the allegations right away and Rennes have said nothing for 7 months until all this happens. Strange. And we have the players ITC papers, which the French Federation somehow received "by mistake". Seems a bit to me like when you have your favorite baseball card and you trade it for a shit player and then realize that you traded it for a shit player and try to say "Nuh uh you cheated that was a mistake"

*EDIT* Also supposedly the unnamed Prem team is Liverpool.

The Kakuta transfer happened more than TWO YEARS ago.

I know it did, that's how long it takes for FIFA to do something conclusive. It's all a joke. I'm all for clubs being protected but when you get situations where you tie these kids into contracts sometimes as early as 13, it's all a bit farcical. Just ban transfers before they are 18, but making these kids sign agreements at 13 like the Helen deal that aren't even optional (his vested when he became a youth international) is all a bit ridiculous. These are kids, their rights need to be protected.

*EDIT* To borrow some verbiage from Blatter, it's akin to making these kids slaves.

  16. There's a good chance that the guy got a fixed amount of money when he agreed to the pre-contract, which means that breaching that would not only be breaching the future contract, but he's also making money out of the club for doing so.

I suppose I failed to mention that minors here also have to provide restitution in the case that they have already received goods of some sort when they want to breach a contract. I don't understand why the player couldn't just repay that money(likely out of Chelsea's pocket) and have all be forgiven.

  17. I don't know if anyone mentioned this but from what I understand the player had signed an agreement I think when he was 14 to sign on professional terms when he turned 16. I believe that is a common occurrence in Europe, but anyway he had done that and Chelsea apparently came in and convinced him to not sign that contract, possibly by paying a large sum of money to the player's parents. Lens argued that this amounted to breach of contract and apparently FIFA agreed. The lines become a little blurred for me because in the US minors are allowed to breach contracts in most cases though I'm not sure how that would work in a case like this but I would think that the player would have some recourse for breaching, though the EU might not give minors the same powers.

  18. Rooney was definitely fouled but I wonder what all of your opinions are on penalty calls when the ball is never going to be reached if the player doesn't go down? We've all seen instances in the past when a player just hammers the ball right before coming into contact, which had it been avoided would have seen a goal kick. What do you all make of that?

  19. Started a game with Corby Town after giving them a sheik owner, based on the whole Notts County takeover. Went through Blue Square North and Prem pretty easily. Then finished runner up three consecutive years in League 2, League 1, and the CCC. My first year in the Prem was pretty tough but a favorable end of the season schedule saw us finish 14. The second season we bounced up to 9th and now in the 3rd I am again 9th with 5 games to go. Boro got taken over by a Slovakian billionaire and have finished in the top 4 twice. Man City have also busted the top 4 a few times and Everton and Tottenham each did it once. I'm having a tough time keeping my stars happy though so we'll see how long my success runs for.
