  1. DAFUQ ? How did I miss this ?

Seattle Sounders signed 27-year-old Steve Clark from Norwegian side Honefoss BK, but then immediately traded Clark to the Columbus Crew in exchange for a fourth round SuperDraft pick in 2015.

CLARK IS IN THE LEAGUE !!!!! WOOOOOO !!! ... and really Seattle ? Why the shit would you immediately trade him off ? (looks more and more likely as though a GK is being drafted, that's why)

My guess is that Steve Clark was on Seattle's discovery list (or whatever), but Columbus really wanted him and he really wanted Columbus. So the sign-and-trade was an easy way to make that happen and get the Sounders something in return.

  2. For the first time in ... well... ever, TFC actually might have a set roster before camp starts. Wonder what kind of an effect it will have on the standings? Defoe's apparently all but signed. With him and Gilberto up front, some (OK, a TFC fan blog) is suggesting 20+ more TFC goals. That should get them in the playoffs. But we've all seen how thoroughly TFC and MLSE can turn gold into shit, so I'm not holding my breath.

  3. Oh yeah, Sonic 2, Seiken Densetsu 3, Final Fantasy VI, and so many others. Fallout 2, Planescape: Torment, Starcraft, and others still manage to hold up well.

    This. So much of this.

You know about the brilliance that is Seiken Densetsu 3?

Hells yeah. Secret of Mana was one of the first games I truly got into as a player. That and FFVI. So when I heard about the English translation of the game, I immediately went out and... acquired... myself a copy. It's been a while since I played it, but that little beast dude was awesome. I think I might just re-aquire it over Christmas.

  4. Honestly, I feel Neal's actions were just as bad as Thornton's. With all the talk about concussions and headshots and whatnot, just casually skating into an opposing player's head -- even if that opposing player is Brad Marchand -- is inexcusable. He didn't even try to get around him, nor did he react after the contact was made. Neal's a talented player, but that move was intentional. 5 games isn't nearly enough.

  5. If I were Shanahan, both Neal and Thornton are gone for the rest of the season. Minimum.

Neal didn't even react when he skated into Marchand. To me, that signals intent.

As for Thornton, crap like that has got to stop. I don't care if you're defending your teammate. Never attack a guy from behind. Ever.

I know that most fines in the NHL are complete jokes. But -- just throwing this out there -- what if teams were fined both in real money and salary cap space? Say $2m less for next season or something. Don't know how effective a deterrent it would be, but it'd do more than a $25k player or coach fine would do.

  6. The only one from that list that I even remotely will miss is Koef. But his body just can't hold up anymore. I might miss Convey, but dude needs a better haircut. You're a soccer player, not the backup vocalist for an emo band.

This culling leaves TFC with just 3 forwards in, presumably, a 4-4-2 system for next year. No matter what happens with Gilardino or Defoe, Leiwicke must be confident in luring at least two strikers to the club.

  7. Why not? MLSE has thrown ridiculous sums of money after other people before. What's stopping them now? They have two standard DP slots available after the release of Koef, and Tim Leiwicke said he wants a top-tier DP striker duo for the start of next year. This would definitely fit the bill.

They're looking to buy the Toronto Argonauts, move them to an expanded BMO Field. Might as well have the 19 or whatever TFC games also sell out the stands. God knows they need help selling out the stands as it is. A potentially lethal Defoe/Gila- (The Monster!) -rdino combo would put butts in seats.

I'm not saying it will happen or even be successful if it does happen, I'm just saying that both isn't inherently impossible.

Of course, we'd still need a midfield beyond Osorio and Laba. And ideally some better defenders. And coach. But beggars can't be choosers, right?
