  1. Athletic Wrestling Heavyweight Title

    Martin Stone © vs. Spud

I kind of see Spud actually maybe winning it just to make Gosling happy! He knows he can't beat Stone.

    Stixx vs. PAC

    PAC definately.

    Athletic Wrestling Bulldog

Sheamus O’Shaunessy vs. Santino Herbert W/Hade Vansan

Gonna have to go with SOS here. But, what exactly is an Athletic Wrestling Bulldog?

    Handicap Match

Duke of Danger and Archduke Simmons vs. Flash Christian

The Dukes gotta go over here!

    Alex Gold vs. Jason Gosling

Gosling. Gold has like, no character at all.

  2. I really like the new layout you are using, the only irk I have is that it's kind of easy to get lost without a break saying like who the winner is, or something.

Good show, though. I was excited to see Simmons, much like Damo was, because he had shown me clips of him before and he's pretty damn good. I'm looking forward to seeing how you play him in.

By the way, Cryptkeeper could be a huge part of the roster, and I want to see more of him.

I don't really like Spud, but he had to go over otherwise it would be heel vs heel and partner vs partner. Murdering time for him!

Stone is the man currently, and definately your promotion's bad ass.

All you need, like Damo said, is more activity. Although, I'm not one to talk about that.

  3. Wow I'm surprised I didn't see you updated the diary, I must have just missed it. Sorry mate.

    Main Event

    Athletic Wrestling Heavyweight Title

    Martin Stone © vs. PAC

-Too early for Stone to lose the belt just yet. Even if PAC is being pushed to win the belt, it is too early.

Number one contender to the Athletic Wrestling Heavyweight Title

    Stixx vs. Spud

Spud takes the win. You wouldn't want Stixx and Stone doing battle for the belt!

Had Vansan W/Santino Herbert vs. Sheamus O’Shaunessy

-SOS. I like him, I just dig the look. Gotta go with the ginger head man!

Duke of Danger picks the opponent

    Flash Christian vs. ???

I sure hope this is the debut of the Cryptkeeper! If not, I predict it to be Gosling. Either way, Flash loses.

    Two out of Three Falls

    Justin Richards vs. Alex Gold

The feud continues! I just for some reaon like Justin Richards a bit more, gotta go with him..

I think it's rad that Crockett is part of your company, I was a big fan of his. I look forward to seeing if you use a bit of old school style because of who he is and whatnot.

  4. I can't wait to get the Orange Box! I still play TFC almost daily, and have beaten Half Life. Working on HL2 still, but damn that's a great deal for all five games.

My PC can run HL2 fine, but I'm not so sure about the newer ones. It probably can. Oh well, I'm buying a new computer around February anyways which WILL be able to rock the shit out of it!

Glad to hear that TF2 is still addicting and fun, though. I've spent many long nights on TFC haha. Not so much lately, but still it's one of the most fun games ever. How is Portal?

  5. Good show man. I liked the Gold/Richards segment, and it looks like the feud will continue which is pretty cool.

I was excited about the debut of the Cryptkeeper too! His debut was convincing and made him come across immediately as a monster, that's cool. I loved how he just won the match within seconds. Hade Vansen making his debut is a good move, he's a good worker and it should be interesting to see the feud with SOS there. The main event was very nice, good move making PAC the new number one contender by pinning the champ already, but I don't think he'll walk out with the belt next month when it comes down to it. Definately looking forward to seeing more of this man!

  6. Good second show, and I was actually surprised to see Stone take the belt. It seemed like he would have been in the tag scene with Stixx for a while, but then again, lots of people who actually know UK wrestling say you could build your fed around him, so you did. Godo work man. I really did kind of think PAC would walk away as your first champ, but you surprised me. Good job man! Keep it up!!

  7. Nice update man. Glad to see you making money and succeeding. Hmmmm, no Cryptkeeper... Too bad, but I think you're prolonging his inevitable debut which will surely be awesome when it happens. Here's my predictions...

    The Re-Match

    Alex Gold vs. Justin Richards

-I'm excited to see this match, and hopefully it won't go to the time limit this time. I predict Richards takes it.

    Tournament Match – Quarter Final

    Santino Herbert vs. Flash Christian

-I'm not much for Flash Christian, but I really dug the way Herbert came off so he's my pick here.

    Tournament Match – Quarter Final

Sheamus O’Shaunessy vs. Duke of Danger

-Oh wow, tough one to call because I really liked the way you played off the Duke, but Sheamus is really your only guy with a good superstar look to him. It's basically a coinflip and a guess of S.O.S.

    Tournament Match – Quarter Final

    PAC vs. Stixx

-Stixx and Stone may be the team to beat in AWA, but PAC is seemingly your most over guy and your best worker too. PAC to go over, definately.

    Tournament Match – Quarter Final

    Spud vs. Martin Stone

Stone will squash Spud because he needs to stay menacing.

    Tournament Match – Semi Final

    Santino Herbert vs. Sheamus O'Shaunessy

-These are just my guess playing off my round 1 picks. But, in this case S.O.S. goes over definately.

    Tournament Match – Semi Final

    PAC vs. Martin Stone

-I think Stone will dominate this match, but PAC will come out on top in the end thus keeping both men credible.

    Main Event

    Tournament Match –Final

    Athletic Wrestling Heavyweight Title

    Sheamus O'Shaunessy vs. PAC

-This is actually a really tough choice too. Like I said, Sheamus has the look, but lacks the skill of PAC who is your biggest star. So, I think PAC will leave as champ!

  8. Wow man, really good first show all around. Yeah, as Horton said you are good. Kind of bummed to see your other diary go, but all the same, I'd much rather this one anyways. Because for the most part I, like Damo, have a policy of anti-WWE/TNA diaries of current day. Retro is ok, but back to the point. I like this concept, much, much more. I've seen those guys in the game, but had no clue who any of them were except for Cryptkeeper. I like Sheamus O'Shaunnessy's look a lot, but know nothing about him. Very well written first show, but to be honest, the name Welcome To the Jungle is pretty cliche for debut shows. But, all the same, it was still a good read and I like your characters a lot. I really can't wait to see how this all unfolds!

  9. Just got back from watching it.

    Honestly, I'm very disappointed.

I thought it was good, but nothing more than that.

    A few irks I had...

So the year that he broke out and was killing people again happened in 78 or 79, forget which. That's cool fine and all, but they had a girl talking on a cell phone? Also, if that happened in 78/9, and they showed him 15 years earlier wearing a KISS shirt, I have no clue how he would have gotten his hands on one of those.

Reason being: KISS started in 73. That would have been 63 when he was wearing the shirt and listening to God Of Thunder. By the way, he wore the Destroyer shirt and God Of Thunder was off that album, which I also believed came out in 76.

The original ending was better and I was disappointed with them having killed off Loomis.

I was really hoping to see Myers get stabbed in the eye.

I was pissed when they had him run and tackle Laurie off the balcany. Nowhere in any Halloween movie has Michael Myers ever ran.

The shit when he was a child was cool, but then again, originally I thought they said that he didn't ever speak one word to Loomis, yet they had him talking all the time for a while.

Just a lot of small things got me to not like the movie so much.

    GARAGE RUMBLE

APW would like to wish a very happy birthday to the following superstars who are celebrating their birthdays this month: Gangrel.

APW would like to recognize the contributions of the following professional wrestlers who are going to be retiring at the end of this month: Dos Caras, Robbie Ellis, Bobby Bass, & Bill Apter.

Combat Zone Wrestling and NWA: Pro Wrestling Express have gone bankrupt.

USA Xtreme Wrestling has issued a bankruptcy warning.

The Garage Rumble name has been kept even though APW is holding the show at the Bakersfield Dome instead of the APW Garage, because the name of this event has been around for several years and the company wants to keep this as an annual event. The Garage Rumble match will have 30 men competing for a shot against whoever the Universal Champion may be at next month’s Cauliflower Alley Club Reunion show from Las Vegas, Nevada. It is rumored that several big names will compete in this event, so be sure to tune in and see who shows up for this one! And as always, expect the unexpected!

  11. …Saturday, 24 February 2007…

    super8.jpg

    Announcers: Jermz & Mark Nulty

The show opens up with a very large crowd nearly filling the Bakersfield Dome. After the National Anthem is played, Gabe Ramirez walks down to the ring to get the crowd pumped up for the show. Gabe pulls the microphone up to his face to speak…

Gabe Ramirez: “Tonight is a very big night for APW, because tonight we are featuring an eight man tournament, and the winner will receive a shot at Kafu’s Universal Title at the Garage Rumble in a match of their choosing. Not only that, but this Super 8 tournament will also showcase 3 of the best that East Coast Wrestling Association had to offer before they went out of business. Let’s bring them out here and introduce them by giving them a nice big APW welcome!”

Some music plays and the fans give a mild reaction as three men walk out from the backstage and quickly get into the ring. The smallest man of the group grabs the microphone from Gabe and begins to talk…

“You might be asking yourself just who we are, right? Well I’ll make this introduction short and sweet, this here is ‘The Monster’ Glen Osbourne!” The guy points to the large man with makeup on his face who is carrying a chain with him. “This man to my right is known as Freak Nastty, and he was the last man to hold the ECWA World Title.” The man known as Freak Nastty flexes his rather large muscles to the crowd. “And you can call me the Cheetah Master! I am a member of the ECWA Hall of Fame, and tonight in this tournament, I take on the Freak here, and I’m going to show him exactly why I am in that Hall of Fame! He might have been the last champion the company had, but damn it I haven’t even peaked yet! We’ll get to our match in a second man, but there’s something us three representing ECWA need to do right now…” Cheetah Master looks over towards Gabe Ramirez, who looks a bit curious as to what is going on. Before Cheetah Master can do anything more, Glen Osbourne reaches over and grabs Gabe by his throat, picks him up and drops him down with a vicious choke slam! Instantly, both APW referees rush down to the ring, and Tom Castor alongside a few agents and a medic carry Gabe to the back, and Kristina McGraw threatens to take all three of them out of the tournament if Glen Osbourne doesn’t leave the ring right now so the match can start. After a while of not saying anything, Osbourne agrees and makes his way to the back, as Cheetah Master and Freak Nastty get in their respective corners and Kristina McGraw calls for the bell to sound to start the match.

    Overall Rating: 50%

Awesome’s Notes: I really like the way this segment played out, and I was really weary of it at first. I think all three of their characters got recognized a little bit right away, which is good. Glen Osbourne is obviously the Monster of the group, and Freak Nastty is the Bad Ass. I think Cheetah Master pulled off the Cocky leader just fine, but nothing fantastic. It should be interesting to see if these guys can blend in with the main roster of APW.

    ROUND 1

    Cheetah Master Vs. Freak Nastty

    Referee: Kristina McGraw

The opening bout of the tournament started off slow, as the two ECWA greats squared off. Freak Nastty tried using his power to go against the veteran Cheetah Master who used his speed to get away when he could. Freak Nastty went to superplex Cheetah Master, who shoved the last ECWA champ down to the mat, then jumped off with a big splash from the top rope, followed by the 1…2…3! After the match, Cheetah waited for Nastty to get back up, and they went to the back together, trying to stir up heat from the dead crowd.

    Winner: Cheetah Master

    Overall Rating: 27%

    Crowd Reaction: 0%

    Match Quality: 56%

Awesome’s Notes: That match just sucked. The crowd didn’t get into it at all, and it didn’t seem like their styles blended at all. They’re going to have to prove a lot more to me than what they just did if they’re hoping to work for APW again!

    ROUND 1

Scotty Aboot Vs. Derek Sanders w/ Payton

    Referee: Tom Castor

In a really good match, both men took to the air on several occasions and tried putting the other away early. In the end, Aboot reversed Derek’s Sandblaster with reverse DDT, giving him time to ascend to the top rope to hit a Shooting Star Press and pick up the win!

    Winner: Scotty Aboot

    Overall Rating: 57%

    Crowd Reaction: 27%

    Match Quality: 88%

Awesome’s Notes: This will probably end up being the match of the night, even though the fans weren’t too crazy about it. Sanders lost a bit of overness, but Aboot picked some up.

    ROUND 1

    Oliver John Vs. J.J. Perez

    Referee: Kristina McGraw

The fans were really into this match, seeing two of the top APW talents collide. Oliver John tried keeping J.J. Perez down with his power and technical skill, but wasn’t able to avoid the 3rd Eclipse that came when J.J. saw Oliver on the top rope, dropped against the top rope which crotched him up top and allowed J.J. to hit his signature move to get the pinfall after.

    Winner: “Mr. APW” J.J. Perez

    Overall Rating: 59%

    Crowd Reaction: 40%

    Match Quality: 79%

Awesome’s Notes: I’ve wanted to put these two in a match since Oliver John first came to APW, and seeing as how they’re the top 2 faces I knew the crowd would love it, and it showed. The match itself wasn’t bad either, and I think it was a surprise to many when J.J. picked up the win.

    ROUND 1

    Tony Jones Vs. Glen Osbourne

    Referee: Tom Castor

Tony Jones did everything he could, but nothing seemed enough to get the Monster off his feet. Jones tried to suplex Osbourne several times to no avail. Glen Osbourne ended up catching Tony with a big boot when he came running at him, and used his strength to throw him around the ring. Glen ended it by dropping Tony with a vicious powerbomb followed by the 3 count for the win. After the match, Osbourne grabbed his chain from ringside and whipped Jones across the back a couple times. Osbourne wraps the chain around his fist and punches at the head of Jones until he is busted open, and then makes his way out of the ring to the fans booing.

    Winner: “The Monster” Glen Osbourne

    Overall Rating: 56%

    Crowd Reaction: 38%

    Match Quality: 75%

Awesome’s Notes: The match was better than I thought it would be, and Osbourne had a bit of heat, but not as much as I was hoping. He gained some overness from this big win, but him trying to pull off a monster gimmick just isn’t working and it’s killing his heat, he’s just not menacing at all!

    ROUND 2

    Cheetah Master Vs. Scotty Aboot

    Referee: Kristina McGraw

Cheetah Master and Scotty Aboot went back and forth, with both men trying to get in early pinfalls. Scotty Aboot turned his back on Cheetah Master who was getting back up, and for his rookie mistake was rolled up in a school boy pin as Cheetah Master pulling the tights, securing victory. Aboot got back up quickly, seemingly heated, as Cheetah Master rolled out of the ring and didn’t waste any time getting to the back.

    Winner: Cheetah Master

    Overall Rating: 49%

    Crowd Reaction: 28%

    Match Quality: 71%

Awesome’s Notes: Quite a disappointing matchup. I was thinking these two would gel well together, I guess not. Not just that, but the fans didn’t seem to have any interest in this match at all. Cheetah Master getting the win got him a little more overness, though. So at least something good came out of this.

    ROUND 2

    J.J. Perez Vs. Glen Osbourne

    Referee: Tom Castor

Glen Osbourne man-handled J.J. Perez right from the opening bell. But, no matter what Osbourne did, it wasn’t enough to keep Perez down. J.J. kicked out of everything, even after his trademark powerbomb. This infuriated Glen Osbourne, who grabbed his chain and began to choke J.J. with it, and was instantly disqualified. After hearing the decision, the crazed Osbourne turned his attention to referee Tom Castor and hit him with a vicious clothesline using the chain. Osbourne left the ring screaming at the fans. J.J. and Tom Castor were both taken to the back the medic and a few agents as the show went to an intermission.

    Overall Rating: 54%

    Crowd Reaction: 37%

    Match Quality: 72%

Awesome’s Notes: The match was perfect for what it was. I tried pushing Osbourne again as a monster, the fans still don’t buy it and he continues to lose overness, even if he didn’t let J.J. get in one offensive move.

When the show returned from intermission, Cheetah Master came out to the ring and waited in the ring for a minute, no J.J. Perez. Then, the sound of horses trotting played throughout the Bakersfield Dome, and the old WCW 4 Horsemen theme song played, the crowd jumped in excitement and curiosity, as none other than J.J. Dillon stepped out from behind the curtain dressed in a black suit, and carrying a microphone. Dillon walks down to the ring and stops to pull a large object with a red sheet over it. Dillon walks up the steel steps and gets inside the ring, and places the big object in the center of the ring, while Cheetah Master looks on not knowing what exactly is going on. J.J. Dillon brings the microphone closer, and begins to talk…

J.J. Dillon: “Ladies and gentlemen, it is an honor to be here tonight in APW. Tonight, I have seen some of the best wrestlers today fight for the Super 8 cup, which I am here to present it right now. But first, will J.J. Perez please come to the ring?”

J.J. Perez walks out to the ring, holding his hand against his neck from the match earlier. The fans cheer for him as he gets inside the ring and looks across it at Cheetah Master.

J.J. Dillon: “For years I watched as ECWA would have their Super 8 tournaments, and from the action I have seen earlier tonight, I would put this tournament right up there with any of the previous ones ever to have taken place.”

A wire lowers from the roof of the Dome, as J.J. Dillon unveils the trophy underneath the sheet. When the wire reaches the ring, J.J. Dillon hooks the top loop of the 8 to the wire, as it raises again.

J.J. Dillon: “And tonight, just a few moments away, these two men, Cheetah Master and J.J. Perez will put on a match that is sure to excite everybody here tonight. They compete in a ladder match, the winner will be the man who is able to grab the trophy first. So gentlemen, let’s show these fine people here tonight just what you’re made of. Let’s give them something to remember!”

After saying that, J.J. Dillon steps out of the ring as the fans give him a very loud ovation. He sits down at ringside to watch the match.

    Overall Rating: 67%

Awesome’s Notes: It was really cool to have J.J. Dillon do this, and just having him here made the prize seem so much more important. He gained some overness by making an appearance for a new promotion for his first time, and delivering a good little promo that talked about the main event.

    FINALS

    LADDER MATCH

    Cheetah Master Vs. J.J. Perez

    No Referee Needed

This match saw some very back and forth action and both men used the ladder to their advantage several times throughout the match. Cheetah Master dropped J.J. with a reverse DDT from the middle of the ladder, and J.J. even hit Cheetah with his 3rd Eclipse onto the ladder! A second ladder was brought into play by J.J. Perez, but it was quickly used against him and dropkicked into his face. Cheetah Master set J.J. on top of the ladder, and then hit him with a splash from the top rope, then set the ladder up in the middle of the ring and began to climb slowly. J.J. got back to his feet when Cheetah Master was nearly at the top, and clubbed him in the back a few times, stunning the Cheetah Master. J.J. used the second ladder and set it up leaning against the one on the middle, and continued by running up it and kicking Cheetah Master off of the middle ladder by using his Shining Wizard! J.J. Perez fell backwards a bit, but landed on his lodged up ladder and climbed back up to the top, and pulled down the Super 8 Trophy for the win! After the match, the crowd cheered loudly and J.J. Dillon got back into the ring with a microphone and began to talk…

J.J. Dillon: “Congratulations Mr. Perez. Now can I ask, what type of match do you wish to have against Kafu next month at the Garage Rumble for the APW Universal Championship?”

J.J. Perez thinks about this for a while, holding his trophy and basking in the glory…

J.J. Perez: “I may be the smallest man in APW today going up against the biggest, but that isn’t about to stop me from finally winning the Universal Title! Kafu, next month, right here in Bakersfield, California, we’re going to see if you can keep up with me, in an IRONMAN MATCH!”

The crowd erupts in cheers for J.J. again, as the rest of the competitors from the Super 8 Tournament fill the ring and clap their hands at J.J., who holds up his trophy in the middle of the ring for all to see as the show ends.

    Winner: J.J. Perez

    Overall Rating: 58%

    Crowd Reaction: 36%

    Match Quality: 80%

Awesome’s Notes: Really good match. Cheetah Master showed that he could keep up with a guy like J.J., and that’s really saying a lot. So now J.J. is the new number one contender, and while he is the smallest guy in APW, the fans are really behind him and I think they want him to be the one to finally defeat the Brazilian Beast.

    Overall Event Rating: 54%

    Attendance: 949 Fans

    …Monday, 12 February 2007…

In the aftermath of Super 8, Buddy Awesome had this to say:

”All around this wasn’t the best show we’ve ever had, but it was a lot better than I had expected. I have no clue how we were able to draw so many fans, but I think it was because of the legacy of the Super 8 Tournament from ECWA.

I wasn’t overly impressed with Cheetah Master, Freak Nastty, or Glen Osbourne. Glen just isn’t very menacing, especially for playing a monster character. Freak Nastty just seemed to not care at all, and I don’t think he’s really much m ore than just a big body. Cheetah Master was able to put on a good match with J.J., but it wasn’t anything spectacular. I don’t know how much longer these 3 will be on the APW roster, because I’m planning a big budget cut to immediately follow the Garage Rumble event.

So now that the main event of the Garage Rumble is booked with a classic David Vs. Goliath story, I just hope we’ll be able to draw as many fans as this show did, if not more! I have a few really big plans for this event, so it should promise to be the biggest in APW history, and if not, as least since I’ve been running it. All that I can promise is that there will be a lot of big names used on March 17!”
