Now that the Ravens have breathing room for both the division and number 1 seed I am excited to see how they immediately squander both.

We should be able to beat the Jags, but you honestly never know with this team going into games.

49ers and maybe Dolphins should be a ballbreaker of a matchup though. 49ers a potential superbowl preview, but the Dolphins we can face in the playoffs too.

  2. I hope they ride Reid and Mahomes a bit harder on their attitude and remarks. Because for a change the refs aren't completely blind, and they're still catching strays.

It was a pretty clear offside too, so it's really unbecoming to act this petty about it.

Verdict out on any rookie but Flowers does appear to be the best of that WR class. JSN and Addison have both been good as well - it's only Johnston who has generally looked poor.

First round probably, but Puka Nacua is looking really freaking good for the Rams.

Reed Richards should be portrayed negatively. Pretty much every good version of that character is a self-centred narcissist. He called himself "Mr Fantastic", for fuck's sake.

And honestly, it's what the MCU needs in the absence of Tony Stark, the dissenting personality in the room that the moral compasses can butt heads with.

  5. Obviously Zay was the star, but my god Keaton Mitchell is a bad man. The speed and regularity at which he reaches the secondary is spectacular, and he seems to have a great knack for finding the gaps.

He's everything we've needed in the backfield as a first down back. If he can keep this level for the rest of the season, it'll be a no brainer to move on from JK Dobbins.

I miss Lewis Hamilton domination of 2020 because at least Bottas, Verstappen, Gasly and Perez also won races that year.

2021 was a good season because there was legit competition for the title between two teams. There were those few Ferrari seasons where they were cheating with the engine, but they bottled that themselves to the disappointment of everyone.

Before that, The Rosberg/Hamilton seasons were exciting, even if it was a one team season. Before that, probably that crazy 2012 season with 8 different race winners and a title battle between Nando and Vettel.

But yeah, a lot of these dominant seasons have been ROUGH, whether it's Red Bull, Merc, Red Bull, or Ferrari dominance. There's gems in between, though.

  7. I was wondering who the hell Tim Boyle is, because surely this guy can't have been THAT bad if he gotten himself onto NFL rosters for the past six years.

It's worse, it's much much worse. The dude has a career QBR of 60.3 in the NCAA, and that is with a rating system that isn't limited and structured for respectable QBs to hit up to 100, and I am pretty sure there's no other QB in the NFL right now that had less than 150QBR across their college careers.

College level Tim Boyle was a generational talent, generationally poor.

He must have the best agents in the fucking universe to have gotten six years worth of NFL minimums in the bank.

    Interesting, handy 20 minute summary.

Squirrel, the guy who made the Python stuff has now published the first version of the application, which features all the 84 roles, and a quick tutorial on how to export it from game to app.

  9. So i don't know if Tommy DeVito is any good long term, but Giants eed to lock him down long term because he's practically New Jersey's football spirit animal.

Love that he went 3-0 in his first start, I have zero interest in the Giants, but I am rooting for Tommy.

  10. On another note, what do people here use for NFL news and recaps. Right now I basically check NFL.com for news and ESPN for stats and boxscores, but I feel like I am missing a lot of context, especially about dtd.

Also looking for some light recap content that doesn't make me want to give myself brain damage like every article on espn.

Speaking of season ending injuries - Deshaun Watson is out for the rest of the year due to needing surgery on a fractured shoulder

At least there's one good thing coming out of the Ravens losing.

I know it's fucked up to wish injury on people, and I really shouldn't do it. But he shouldn't have raped about 20+ massage therapists, so it doesn't come close to evening out the karma.

Also the fucker's going to making bank whilst sitting at home (hopefully not sexually abusing the next massage therapist)

Brutal Ravens loss. 2nd time this year they've just completely coughed up a divisional game win.

Frustrating loss, Easily Lamar's worst game of the season passing, but also the defense just never clicked and gave Watson a chance to get back in it.

The Panthers are so bad.  I know NFL media is super reactionary to small sample sizes and all that but it’s feeling kinda hard not be that way about Bryce Young.  There are plenty of examples in recent NFL history of the team drafting the new QB and seeing instant results.  Maybe not a playoff contender, but clear as day that the QB makes everyone around him better and that he’s the right guy for the future.

And when you take a QB at #1, let alone give up all you did to move up to get him, that’s what you’re expecting.  And I can’t said it’s an unfair expectation given how often it’s happened, and how the NFL structures all its rules to allow QBs to exceed.  Nothing more important than that position.

The jokes about Young’s size have been plentiful but like, really, he does have multiple throws a game that are so wildly inaccurate you wonder if he just couldn’t see where he was even throwing.  There are very few positive signs at all.  And he’s got tons of pressure on him because of the trade, if he busts it’s basically gonna go down as one of the worst moves in history.

I hope the guy figures it out but I can see why Panthers fans would be despondent.

It's honestly even more damning that the coaching staff wanted to draft Stroud, who now is in Houston looking like a bonafide superstar in the making. But the front office went against it and went with Bryce Young instead, who simply up to this point has been struggling heavily.

They could've had the guy, it's not a case of people being taken by surprise by some form of sleeper pick because Stroud was always going to be that top 3 guy. But despite having literally all the options to pick the right one, they have picked the wrong one.

I feel it's way too early to call bust, but if he does, then the Panthers are going to suck for a loooooooooong time.

  14. Ravens walking away with it against the Seahawks. If they can keep things together, maybe just maybe we can do some magic in the playoffs. I am honestly too afraid to hope at this point.

Also undrafted RB in his first start getting over 140 yards rushing, also Odell getting his first TD in years on his birthday.

  15. Honestly for as shocking the twist was at the end of Infinity War, they really didn't do anything interesting with it other than pretty much doing a backflip over the shark with the timetravel plot to effectively undo (except Natasha's death, because contrivances) all the things that made it shocking in the first place.

MCU has always been tame by a few degrees, with most major plot points being wrapped up within a film, maybe two in rare cases. And honestly the lack of really sticking with the major shocks has caused the franchise to sputter, because status quo was king.

You had HYDRA taking over SHIELD and the world government's, but that got wrapped up neatly and the loose ends never mentioned again. There was the registration stuff and the civil war, but the former was never really mentioned again and never became a point of interest, and the latter also ended on a whimper because the film afterwards you had Thanos show up to snap the universe in two.

Then you had the whole snap thing, but again, that got cleaned up the next film, and the whole culture shock of half the universe showing back up unchanged 5 years later hasn't been delved into other than cursory glances in the series, which historically have never really been treated as part of actual continuity unless in the rare cases it is deemed interesting enough.

But the issue with returning to the status quo every time is that things just get stale, and the franchise is extremely stale right now. And the departure of Downey Jr. and Evans have left a vacuum that Marvel hasn't found an alternative to. Thor and Ant-Man seem to exist in their own bubbles, as were the Guardians which may or may not be done. Semi-Major characters like Sam Wilson, Bucky, Cpt. Marvel, and others just haven´t gotten the chances to really be those centering posts either.

After four years, The Marvels is the first post-Endgame film that highlights a major character, but it doesn't seem to be a film that will truly put Cpt. Marvel in the center like Iron Man or Captain America were. So again it'll probably still keeps struggling.

It honestly is very reminiscent of pro-wrestling to me, with everything always coming back to a handful of names, and the moment they are no longer there it becomes painfully obvious they never bothered to put anybody in a position to replace them, when they had all the talent and opportunities to do that earlier.

Part of me feels Boseman would've been a huge part of the post-endgame Avenger dynamic, and his death took everyone by surprise. But it's honestly just been too little narrative/world growth as a whole, and the cracks are clear as day now that the momentum has clearly evaporated.
