  1. Easiest way to do it is get in close and hit elbows, or do leg kicks, maybe some clinch striking.

You don't have to do the move to learn it a lot of the time.

Also, here's an easy "How to" learn submissions in Career mode:

    0. ALWAYS SAVE BEFORE TRAINING SUBS, so if you struggle you can quit out to main menu and reload your career.

    1. Learn the suplex to side control, salaverry, and salaverry elbow.

    2. Train the salaverry armbar first.

    3. When you start submission training, suplex, salaverry, elbow the partner until he's rocked, click R3 and shine. If you have 50+ sub offense, you SHOULD make him tap.

    4. Repeat 3 until your session is up.

  2. It's omoplata. Easy way to remember it is to think of Moe from the Simpsons applying it. "Oh, Moe, you can't lock in that omoplata".

Not really... though I do remember Gogoplata by thinking "Go go gadget plata".

No, I'm not on drugs. But people think I am all the time...

  3. Actually, in my first run I made a pretty good HW who ended up with very high striking abilities (all 100 in the standup skills, 95 in ground striking offense) and respectable ground and takedown defense.

The key is to specialize. That, and do use focused sparring only when you have stats in the 80s or 90s where it's actually more effective. You might get 20 points in regular sparring, whichcan bring a 90 to a 95, but with a good focused run you can get 10 bonus points which can get you from 90 to 100.

Also, don't worry about resting to maintain your attributes.

The best way I find to keep conditioning up pre-fight is to do a camp invite with 2 weeks left, then rest. You'll almost always end up with 80 conditioning and 40 stamina which is actually pretty good for a fight.

I find the micromanagement aspect pretty challenging in a good way actually.

EDIT- Though I think it'd be better and more accessible if the break levels were 30, 45, 60, 75, then 90.

  4. I wish Herb Dean was unlockable as a fighter so i could kick his ass for ruining my match. Playing through title defense mode using Anderson Silva. Tore through D,C,B,and part of A block. next up I face Chris Leben come out and instantly get the Muay Thai clinch. I start pounding Leben's face with my knees. One more knee should have rocked him but Dean pulls us apart. I go to jab Leben and get plastered with a hook ko'ing me. talk about pissed.

Which makes me wonder if referees have different logic to them when it comes to standups...

  5. The omoplata is another move I bet lots of people will use online too. Not because it's a particularly effective submission, but because there's one of three outcomes with it:

    1. You win by submission

    2. Opponent is standing and you're still down, making it easier for you to stand back up.

    3. Opponent has you in side control, which you can use to transition to standing easier.

Submissions are still a pain in the ass to do on CPU opponents in any difficulty except beginner which irks me. It means you pretty much HAVE to make a submission specialist in Beginner if you go to career mode unless you copy a retired fighter to create mode (which they might put a nix on via patching...)

  6. Do TKOs count? Because I've gotten several in under a minuite by suplex to side control, salvaverry then elbow to oblivion.

Won't work all the time of course but it's a strategy that I've found works wonders against the CPU. Online not so much.

  7. 2022.

By the way, if you guys haven't noticed yet, you can unlock more stuff for your edits by doing the title mode (and then title defense mode, which gives you a LOT more of the games currency) then go to game progress and select the unlock shop. There's extra nicknames (including Last Emperor!), new taunts, new fighter intro animations, and new win animations. Also lots of new patterns for custom shirts.

Sadly, no ability to have an American Flag banner for my Kenny Sasaki...

Also it's a bit lame that you can't have custom banners in exhibition mode. Granted the banners themselves aren't really much to write home about, but come on...

    EDIT-

I noticied when i didn't call out Karo Paryisan the fights seemed easier than when i called him out, probably cause i disrespected his honour and wanted to kill me.

It's because he needs to prove that his judo throws are the best, best throws in the world, and that all the other throws are done by little girls.

  8. If it were possible, this game makes me hate Boring Jay Penn even more... took me like four tries to beat him in career mode...

Oh, and I think I have the unofficial record for fastest sub in online play. 30 seconds with an omoplata with my main edit, against someone playing as Arlovski.

The fight was literally Arlovski shoots, gets the takedown, I go for the Omoplata, submission.

  9. 44-8 in my entire career.

Never got Fighter of the Year, or any of the year awards. Despite 43 of my 44 wins being (T)KOs, I got ONE KO of the night.

And despite learning mostly kicks, knees and elbows, they still call me a boxer

  10. Still having problems with submitting people, but otherwise, won the title in Career mode.

Interesting that unlike in 2009 you actually have to win a contender match to get a title shot, and there's a weigh-in cutscene too.

Unlocking stuff is also really easy in Title Defense mode, just keep winning and you get tons of points.

  11. I forgot to ask in my last post, but has anyone figured out how to unlock one of the fight camps as a sponsor?

For no other reason than it'd make sense for my CAF to be with ATT...

  12. So, after having a trilogy with Cro Cop (and another one with Arlovski), I got my character really rolling now, next opponent being #3 ranked Brock Lesnar.

Funny moment, I get a message saying a legend is coming out of retirement and wants to face "one of the new guys".

    That legend... Mirko Cro Cop.

Long story short, I G&Ped Mirko into oblivion and now I'm 3-1 against him.

Also, doing title mode to unlock stuffs.... fuck Anderson Silva.

  13. Yes, well to be fair I don't think anyone outside of the production crew know the details of the simulator used in the show and how it works. I think the weapon data is put into numbers which is collected in a spreadsheet, and then probably plays out in some kind of RPG fight system. But that's just a theory.

So the reason why they probably don't put those into consideration... is because the windmills do not work that way in the program.

  14. Nah, if Spartan fought again, I'm sure they'll find a way to fudge the data so the LOL BRONZE SHEILD!!! guys win...

No surprise with this weeks ep, though I'm pretty surprised only the whip-sword was tested against the sheild.

Pirates vs Cartel next? Hell no wonder they didn't announce it post-credits... still, maybe we might see something new that ends up being cool.

  15. On tonight's episode:

So that's how the Nazis would win- tactics and terrain mean jack fucking shit.

I kind of figured as such with the Spartan eps (Would a Ninja REALLY go one-on-one with a Spartan?), but this fight pretty much confirms it.

Fight scene was arguably as contrived, or possibly even more contrived, than the James/Capone one. While James gang had the dumbest luck ever in their scene by getting their weapons... with the rifle fully loaded... from a fucking museum exhibit, the Nazi's didn't go balls out with their flamethrower (either meaning the truck that the flamethrower was found in was abandoned and the remaining SS lucked out in finding it, or they didn't think a flamethrower wouldn't be useful in a jungle enviroment, both are questionable IMO) they also somehow managed to get the drop on the Vietcong (HUH?!) and the SS POW apparently didn't put the VC on edge (HUH?!) as there was no lookout, AND the POW was uninjured and unbounded (HUH?!). At least they bothered to explain how the POW got a pistol.

Which leads me to think the fight scene was the luckiest SS squad ever vs the stupidest VC squad ever...
