  1. It looks like I am the only happy person in the EWB Baseball Thread. :D

If I'm honest, I never thought I would see this day where I'd get to watch the Mets get to the World Series. I was only 2 in 1986, and probably had no clue what was going on.

.. so you were 16 in 2000 when they also made the WS?

Maybe I should have made myself clearer. Clearly I did not expect them to get back anytime soon.

    Better? Yes? Good.

  3. This was the tough game for the Mets, IMO. If they stole this one from Arrieta, I felt they could possibly sweep against weaker Cubs SP at Wrigley. deGrom in Game 3, and Matz in Game 4 for a potential clincher. I like my chances.

    LET'S GO METS!!! :D

  4. Just when you think the Mets are sunk, you get a grind-it-out kind of performance from Jacob deGrom, and Daniel Murphy carrying the team on his back. I was at Game 4 of the NLDS at Citi Field, crowd was AMAZING even if the result wasn't. The NLCS crowds in Flushing will be off the charts.

    Mets in 6 :D

  5. In my latest Manchester United game, despite bringing in some of the best young players, we've failed to mesh as a team, leading to a shock 5-1 beatdown by of all teams, Aston Villa. The board blamed me for the defeat instead of looking at the players for their failure to play up to my standards, so I told the Glazers to go fuck themselves and resigned.

    ...Louis van Gaal?

Darn, you found out my secret identity. :(

Meanwhile, I've made a fine start at Blackpool. Gotten them out of the relegation zone, and got Sabri Sarioglu coming in January for 185k from Galatasaray :D

Wanting to get a team promoted to the Premier League so I could get my revenge, I applied at Blackpool. I made two mistakes here...

    1. Applying for the Blackpool job
    2. Not waiting for something better (anything)

In spite of myself, I ended up getting the Blackpool job anyway. Karl Oyston must really be desperate. Welp, time to perform a minor miracle without the aid of funding. :P

  7. Khan destroyed Collazo, Broner cruised against Molina, and Mayweather stole a majority decision from Maidana. Personally had that fight 115-114 for Maidana, but I'd love to know what those two judges who had it 117-111 and 116-112 for Mayweather were smoking. I expect a rematch there.

  8. The thing that always bugged me about OOTP was that a guy immediately turned to shit as soon as he hit 30. The game was fun, but that always turned me off. I haven't played any of the recent versions, though.

I think you'll have to mess around with the aging sliders. I've had guys on OOTP 14 stay really good into their late 30's. Matt Harvey for one stayed good until he was 40, and then he broke his everything and his career was over. :(

As for OOTP 15, I'll be getting this in a few weeks. :D

  9. FINALLY got my first FIFA Ultimate Team win (PS3)!

Then EA gives me the "Sorry, there was a problem connecting to the server" bullcrap and kicks me back to main menu. I go back into FUT, and what do I see? I've been saddled with the loss for supposedly disconnecting!

*sigh* I'll never beat anyone. :crying:

  10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtelgRzc3IU

I want to be excited about this, but I'm playing Link Between Worlds right now and it is just so freaking good and this is just. Eh.

If at some point we don't get a cameo by Lu Bu as he carves Link to tiny little Hyrulian pieces, I riot. :D:P

  11. Well at least we won't have to hear American Conference fans (lol) crying foul at the end of the year now.

There should never have been any illusions of an AAC team going to the National Title game. Even if Louisville ran the table, there'd be no chance in hell they'd leap over a 1-loss SEC team or any team in a bigger conference.

Maybe this starts a few more hiccups for Louisville, allowing Rutgers to win the conference and finally go to a BCS game (and inevitably get destroyed because our QB sucks)

  12. I'da liked Hitman tbh.

PS+ has totally got me playing the PS way more than my Xbox. Only game I play on X now is Fifa. I was playing Battlefield, then it got Plus'd so I traded it in and I installed it on the Playstation.

My ps3 collection is entirely digital too. Which I really like.

I installed and updated The Heist game today. Is that worth playing? Premise sounds very fun.

Most of my collection is digital too, except for GT5, Skyrim, and for some ridiculous reason, Test Drive Unlimited 2. I have no idea what the hell I saw in that game :bang:

Heist wasn't too bad. I played it for a bit at a friend's house and enjoyed it.

  13. PS+ additions this month for North America are rather underwhelming.

    Hitman Absolution (PS3)

Bit.Trip Presents Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien (PS3)

Zen Pinball 2: Star Wars Pinball (PS3 – PS Vita Cross Buy)

Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower & Machinarium are free for the Vita crowd.

    Rayman series discounted

Europe's been kicking the shit out of North America with their free stuff lately. That trend will probably continue for the forseeable future. :-\

  14. Lost in the Gold Cup discussion is the fact that Aron Johannsson of AZ Alkmaar has filed his one-time switch and will be playing for the US national team. The quote below is from his Facebook page.

    Announcement:
I have decided to make myself eligible for the USA national football team. I was fortunate in that I could choose between playing for Iceland or the USA since I have dual citizenship. It was neither an easy nor hasty decision, because I was faced with two good national teams. I thank the coaches of Iceland for their interest in me and wish the Iceland national team all the best in the future.
    Sincerely
    Aron Johannsson
    AZ Alkmaar
