WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Richard Jeni, a standup comedian who played to sold-out crowds, was a regular on the Tonight Show and appeared in movies, died of a gunshot wound in an apparent suicide, police said Sunday.

Police found the 45-year-old comedian alive but gravely injured in a West Hollywood home when they responded to a call Saturday morning from Jeni's girlfriend, Los Angeles Police Officer Norma Eisenman said.

Eisenman said the caller told police: "My boyfriend shot himself in the face."

Jeni died at a nearby hospital.

Eisenman said suicide had not been officially confirmed and the investigation was continuing.

such a shame to see the show go, if it ended after last season I wouldn't mind so much, but they really pulled things together and was the best it had been since the first season IMO. I thought it was a good finale, better than many others. Taylor getting put on the Terrorist Alert list had me rolling. The fast forward at the end was nice, gave the series some good closure.

only letdown of the ep was the call to the secret service, when he asked for the lead agent I was hoping to hear Pierce's voice

good ep, the zombie stuff was great, especially Summer telling Taylor to go 187 on that zombie ass, heh

can't believe no posts after this week's ep. Probably the best of the season thus far. Still can't believe the ending.

Paramount Pictures has set Thursday, May 22, 2008 for the release of the next

Indiana Jones movie, which the studio is now officially referring to as the

'Fourth Installment of the Indiana Jones Adventures.' The picture maintains the

Memorial Day weekend release strategy of the last two Indiana Jones movies, and

it mirrors the last two 'Star Wars' movies and 'The Matrix Reloaded' with its

Thursday launch.

Also currently scheduled for Memorial Day weekend 2008 is Warner Bros.' 'Speed

Racer.' Two other event-style pictures have previously staked out May 2008

releases dates: Paramount's 'Iron Man' (May 2) and Buena Vista's 'The Chronicles

of Narnia: Prince Caspian' (May 16)
