  1. Wow, that just seemed so.. odd to be hearing from a reporter. It's like he's incapable of realizing he's being a dick.

Reading an Ulmer blog on the Leafs' site (Here if anyone's interested) I came across this gem that litterly made me laugh out loud.

In 2000, the Islanders were gifted with the number one pick after finishing 25th. They rejected prolific goal scorers Dany Heatley and Marian Gaborik (second and third respectively) in favour of goalie Rick DiPietro.

They must kick themselves everytime they think about that.

  2. This game gives me the worst case of 'One-more-turn' syndrome. :shifty:

I've been playing as the London Knights to start. Near the end of January in my first year, we're ranked 2nd in the OHL right behind the Ice Dogs (fucking Strome & Agozzino <_< ), prepping to most likely meet them in the finals for an all out war between the OHL's top 2 teams.

Just witnessed an entire line brawl between London and Kitchener in the 2nd game of a Home & Home. Everyone on the ice, including the goalies, burst out in a brawl. Both goalies ended up with game misconducts and are thrown out of the game (with a few skaters as well I believe). We ended up with 52 and 40 PIMs each after it all. At least we're up 2-0 before that broke out :shifty:

  3. That was a hell of a game, too bad we couldn't get out with the 2 points, or 1 at least.

If Chara ends up getting a phone-meeting for that hit, I can pretty much predict how it would go.

"Yeah well, he slightly turned before I hit him and, uh.. I'm kind of 7 feet tall, it's hard to get any lower than I did." :shifty:

  4. Pretty good game so far between Toronto and Boston, physicality and fighting (Y)

Armstrong just got his nose blooded up good by Seidenburg, Rosehill bloodied up Thorton earlier as well.

EDIT: I gotta give props to Chara on that 4th Boston goal. Blast a heavy slapped just wide of the net to make everyone aware of it, gets the puck back and heads down the slot, winds up like he's about to blast another and instead makes a soft pass to Caron waiting on the doorstep for the easy goal. That slapper he has can be used as a gameplan of it's own.

  5. All I gotta say is that it is much more of a bitch to get a submission online than in career (unless the guy your facing is complete shit), even with my submission machine. :(

  6. God damn, what a finish by (spoiler'd incase someone cares about Kampmann vs Alvez)

    Martin Kampmann over Thiago Alvez.

Final minute of the third round, fight definitely looks like it's going to the judges. Alvez gets Kampmann stumbling with a shot and goes to finish him. Alvez tackles him into the cage before going for the takedown off the cage, looking for sure like he was about to finish it but Kampmann manages to lock in a guillotine on his way to the mat and ends up in mount with it locked in, forcing Alvez to tap soon after. Good fight with a great surprise ending.

  7. Well I know how to block and reverse transitions.

But for me the problem is that during a fight, I just dont pick up on the signs of the other guy doing submissions. And when I do, it's already too late. Add to that being very impatient when my fighter is on his back I just spam small transitions in the hope to get back standing.

Spamming transitions = loss of stamina/energy = easier to be submitted and harder to defend against them. Even having two transitions blocked by the CPU can put you at a big disadvantage if they slap a submission on and they're decent with subs.

But really, I barely spot any transition attempts. Because they hardly try them unless I try them and then they block/reverse them. Even when they are in closed guard they rather just wail on me than actually get to dominant positions.

The only time they get further is when I start to freak out and try to get them away.

I guess the only tip I can really give is if you're not transitioning, block them. Only let go of the transition block to attempt a transition. Eventually, you'll pick up what movements they do as they start their transition attempt, and you can try working in reversals.

Also, I've found that when making the transition motion with the right stick, if you try doing it slower at times it'll help. You can even start to make the motion, pause halfway for a split-second and then finish the motion, and I find that works good as well.

Of course, if you just repeatedly attempt to transition, they're most likely going to block and/or reverse them, or sub you, so you need to mix it up with blocking transitions and moving around on your back before sneaking in a transition.

  8. Blocking transitions is definitely key for your ground game. After you get blocking them down, then focus on reversing them. I assume you know how to block them, but if not, it's as easy as holding the right stick straight left or straight right. If you attempt a transition, you can also quickly go back to holding it to the right or left to block them again.

I've found that it's easier to complete transitions right after your opponent attempts one, though it does sometimes get blocked as well. It does feel like a slightly cheap tactic, but it's how the computer treats you so why not ;)

  9. It's been done a lot.

God damn, I really didn't even realize just how much it's been done. I was in amazement as to how many pic's there were when I just google'd 'goalie beachball'. Seems every goalie's had a beachball pic made of them. Luongo, Theodore, Khabibulin, Huet, Raycroft, Boucher, Lundqvist, and that's all on the first screen.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and I was referencing the new movie Goon. Funny scene in it where these two Swedish guys are making fun of their goalie team-mate, and pull out a picture of him not stopping a beachball. *insert shitty reference meme here*

EDIT 2: Also, let it be known that I was just poking fun at Reimer for the 2 goals of the first 2 shots. He's played decent despite the team playing crap in front of him at times.

  10. Just won a PRIDE fight, the first time I've KO'd someone with the north/south knee's to the head. God damn, it looked (and I felt) like I killed him. In the heat of the moment, I followed up with 3 or 4 more knee's to the head once he already went out, and they just looked brutally sickening.

EDIT: So after a Knockout of Lyoto Machida at 4:50 of the 2nd round, Nobu 'The Asian Sensation' Yakubitskaya has gone on to win his retirement match. Not the most fitting way for a submission specialist to be remembered in his final match, but ya can't change a flash KO so what's done is done.

I managed to post a great record of 45-3, with my only losses coming from Tito Ortiz twice by TKO early in my UFC career, and my third coming more recently from being on the receiving end of Rampage's fist, where I lost my LHW Title after defending it 7 times. During my career, I put together a stunning 23 fight win streak, and never lost more than once in a row. I also won my one and only PRIDE Gran Prix that I was offered.

My fastest win was a mere :42 seconds into the 1st round, against Wes Turner, where I won by submission. I believe that may have been my WFA title match where I walked in, pulled to guard and got an Omoplata sub victory right off the bat. Fastest loss was to Tito Ortiz, a respectable (:shifty:) TKO loss 2:46 into the 3rd round. I came away with 15 Submission of the Night awards, 6 Submission of the Year awards, 3 Fighter of the Year awards, and also made the UFC HoF.

Came out of the career rated 92 OVR, 91 Submission OFF and DEF, somehow ended up with 100 GTG Offense and 97 GTG Defense without even focusing on that. I also traned my move-levels up pretty well (Put in spoilers for length; Level/Lv 1 = Learned, Lv 3 = Perfected):

Left High Front Kick [Anderson] (Lv 3)

Direct Catch to Armbar from the Bottom [from clinch] (Lv 3)

Strike Catch to Omoplata (Lv 3)

Direct Catch to Kimura from Half Guard (Lv 2)

Submission Switch to Armbar from the Bottom (Lv 2)

Submission Switch to Triangle (Lv 2)

One Step Left Head Kick (Lv 2)

Pull Guard to Open Guard Clinch (Lv 2)

Sweep Transition to Back Side Control [from rubber guard] (Lv 2)

Direct Catch to Gogoplata from the bottom (Lv 2)

Right High Front Kick [Anderson] (Lv 1)

    Lyoto's Stepping Straight (Lv 1)

Jumping Left Front Head Kick (Lv 1)

Direct Catch to Gogoplata from the Top [from mount] (Lv 1)

Sweep Transition to Open Guard Clinch [from mounted] (Lv 1)

Direct Catch to Peruvian Neck Tie [from back side control] (Lv 1)

Trip Over Takedown to Half Guard Clinch (Lv 1)

Looking forward to bringing this guy online and twisting people into pretzels. I also look forward to the hate messages I'll be recieving soon due to this.
