Yuffie was one of my favorites for combat, I regret not learning how fantastic Doppleganger was until late in the game. My favs were Cloud, Yuffie and Tifa. Red and Barret were alright. Aerith and Cait I did not enjoy.

I really enjoyed Cait Sith for him being so different at first but got quickly bored. He’s meant to be hugely powered by his luck stat which is cool.

Using Radiant Ward I think alongside the double magic made Aerith a lock in my party as she was really powerful.

But I suppose that shows the strength of the games system that we had different experiences with who was good to use.

I just got to a point where I was losing to Wedge and I don't really enjoy Fort Condor all that much - but from what I understand, as long as I do stuff before the point of no return in Chapter 2 I should be fine. And I saw there's a tactic that can even cheese Chadley on Hard that amounts to "spam guard dog and any log cost unit over and over again" that I might try next time I get in.

Yuffie is an absolute blast. Character wise, movement wise, attack wise - using her weapon to operate switches and running on walls instead of waiting for Red XIII to get in the right fucking spot animation wise is so much more satisfying.

Yuffie's combat is almost like a preview of FF7 Rebirth Combat, I feel like they expanded on everyone so much more to actually fulfil specific roles and it's so much more fun.

I finished Remake finally! It kind of picked up in the middle, and then took a massive dive near the ending with more "walk and then fight two enemies" in one location for far too long, but I went straight into INTERmission and I was wondering...

Since I am a completionist for this stuff, do I have to do the Fort Condor stuff as I go before I run out of areas or can I play through it and if I want to finish off the Condor stuff later, can I chapter select with all the pieces I've gathered?

Honestly Fort Condor is an absolute pain in the ass, I just cheesed it with magic. I’m guessing it’s the lab you’re talking about?

I will die on the hill that ME:A was NOT a bad game.

Was it a great game that lived up to the legacy of the first 3 games?  No.  But it was a solid foundation to build on for the future, and I'm kind of disappointed we'll be abandoning Ryder and going back to Shepard

I'll maybe finally attempt it again after I do the Trilogy. I think it sort of suffered from the whole blank slate it went for, coming in to that universe with new characters might have worked better.

Also maybe a bit Dragon Age 2 in that it wasn't what most people expected going in.

The sequel to Mass Effect: Andromeda might actually be out by then!

(ME2 is the best game of the original trilogy.)

I've completed twice before, just want to play it portable this time. One of my favourite ever series.

Fantastic game. If anyone is still playing, rush the story. It should be experienced with minimal breaks. The rewards for the side quests ain't worth it.

    Spoiler

There's two theories I've heard that I really like, Aerith does exist in a parallel universe except only Cloud can see her as he's the one that's been in different universes.

You passed a full Holy material to this universes Aerith during all over the place scene, that is also with original lifestream Aerith which is why Sephiroth says 'this is where you've been hiding'.

There's also the theory that the Aerith that Cloud is seeing is completely in his imagination with him breaking down and refusing to accept her death.

I've just got a Steam Deck so can see me replaying Remake soon and then keeping my fingers crossed Rebirth can play on it at release at its lowest settings. 😂

    Super near end game spoiler?

I just got the Cloud/Zack back to back team up before I had to go do chores. I think I'm at the end?

    1. I was like "Fuck no!" when Sephiroth showed up to stab Aerith

    2. I cheered when Cloud broke free of the Whispers and smacked him away

    3. THen I was VERY confused that she's still laid out and sorta bleeding? I think the worlds are combining into one??

    4. They did my favorite trope of fighting with every party member to take down the boss, and then the cutscene where they are all fucking up JENOVA... fuck I LIVE for that shit.

    5. Why they gotta do Biggs dirty like that?!

    Spoiler

Yeah you’re at the final boss.

There’s loads of different theories that make sense on how everything ends.

The Biggs one theory is seemingly to do with will to continue, whereas Zack won’t give up no matter what, Biggs gives up the first sign of a problem. Although they’re always chasing Zack so perhaps it’s fate chasing him down as it’s always the Shinra soldiers. I think the Avalanche stuff was wrapped up with the date/show. Although I was hoping for more of all three.

Just finished chapter 13, this game, holy shit.

It did a great job of making me start to hate Cloud with his snappiess and impatience towards everyone who just had to relive all of their trauma. It made me almost cry with Cait sacrificing himself, even though I KNEW he was coming back two seconds later. The fucking Whispers coming back! Cloud acting like a fucking serial killer chasing down Aerith.

Such a high end to the chapter. I feel like if I ever replay this game I am going to skip all the side content. Going hours/days in between the story beats does this game a disservice. The story is just so damn good.

And now Cloud and Aerith are in the alternate dimension. What is going on?!

    Spoiler

This is basically how I feel about the game, side stuff fun but tiresome. Story hits absolutely everything I could have ever wanted/imagined from a remake/retelling/'sequel'.

I can't wait to hear what you think of the ending!

    More chapter 13 stuff

I was going to be PISSED if Cloud killed Elana! Even though they are bad guys, I LOVE the Turks (I can't remember if they had a redemption arc in the original, but they deserve one here I think). Elana with her sparkly, pink uzi is a hilarious sight.

Love that we got a Tseng battle in there too!

Yeah, I did most of them. Not doing the pirate treasure (because the reward seems meh), I'm skipping a Gongaga one (because Gongaga), and the last Kyrie mission.

But I ended up watching the Tifa cutscene on youtube. Gonna watch the rest later I think!

It gives you the option to load up whichever one you want at the end game. For Chapter 8 also.

  11. Have completed other games this year but didn't use this so I'll just start with this one.

    1. FFVII Rebirth

Really enjoyed it, albeit got a little frustrated from time to times. FF7 OG was such a huge part of my growing up I'm probably biased in thinking it's phenomenal though.
