This is why we love Scottish football.

He’s such a strange guy, but he’s not entirely wrong. The way teams play up here is abysmal, and that’s shown in Europe by some of the sides year in year out.

Rangers down another player after a shocking tackle. Ref tried to give a yellow at first, player busy high fiveing his team mates for taking someone out.

Back when I played the original 25 years ago or so the crafting system was fascinating. Curious how they tailored it for a modern era when every single game has a crafting system seemingly.

The game itself I would not be surprised if it has not held up. It was full of big ideas for a PS1 RPG, but in the end was limited. Not sure what you build off of that to make a better game with so many years of new gaming innovations.

I think it's worth remembering a lot of these games came out in Japan at a time when Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest were at their creative peaks, and the response to that was to constantly try to reinvent the wheel and see what magic you could capture with your own game. Some of the fresh ideas (Suikoden) really worked at the time and still hold up, others (maybe Star Ocean) were fun at the time because they felt fresh but certainly may not have aged well.

I’ve been playing it as normal, it’s been given some QOL upgrades to the crafting, fast travel and also tells you when PA’s are available and where. Also way easier to get Job Points etc.

I think it’s held up really well but then again it was one of my PS1 favourites.

I never played the original, so I'm not sure! I'm level 40ish now and not even off the first island.

It’s obviously much easier now with the chain battles and getting job points easier etc.

PA’s before you’d just have to walk all over the world map constantly to every town just in case there was a new PA. Also I’m sure if you hit a certain level the final dungeon is a lot harder.

@Colly is now just two wins away from victory, but can secure the title next week if he wins and @gunnar hendershow fails to pick up 3pts.

@Captain Kirk is the only other player with an outside chance.

I remember a rumour that if you got to level 99 before leaving Midgar that either Zack would join your party or Cloud would become Zack.

I actually tried the challenge over a summer holiday and got to about level 56 before becoming utterly bored by the grind. I think I did the maths on it too shortly before the point of quitting and realized it was going to take an insane amount of time.

Another memory I have is completely boning myself the first time I played FFVII because, for some reason, I felt like using magic was cheating. So I didn't ever equip materia. I got to the prison in the Golden Saucer before the game became too difficult. A friend clued me in that I should be using materia so I just started again.

For some reason I used to alwaysun away from most battles, unknowingly doing a low level run. I remember getting stuck on the Cargo Ship Jenova for about two weeks as her laser could one shot kill me. Also not realised I could destroy the pyramid/bubbles in a couple of boss fights making them exponentially harder too. 😂

My game became spamming summons and Comet2.

I suspect it's down to my management, but have people had issues with throwing away leads constantly? 3 times in my first season I was 3-0 up at half time and drew 3-3, a fourth time this happened but I did manage to nick a late winner. This season I've had it happen once and also lost a game 5-4 after leading 4-0 at half time. I find regularly though I'm good first half and terrible in second half's. Is that likely a fitness issue, or are AI managers just better at reacting to things on the go whilst I should be more proactive in changing things?

Think the game just decides you’re not winning. I’ve found that shutting up shop usually results in conceding, when I go more attacking than I was I tend to keep my leads.

Hey I know for a fact that a guy on one of the predecessor message boards to this one was able to revive Aerith in the Japanese version of the game, but they removed it for the western audience. A fact!

The amount of rumours that used to be around games all the time as a kid was crazy. There was always one kid who had every game but could never tell you anything about them.

I remember a PS Magazine ran an article telling how the story of FF8 was going to be a direct sequel of FF7.
