    NFL Thread

^^ Wow you are one sad individual.
  2. How does that make Culpepper cheap? Sure it's stupid to give someone something and then ask for it back, but I still don't see him being cheap.
  3. Damn I can't believe all of you boys are sleep on T.I.P. That boy is the real deal. You should hear some of his Lil Flip disses. What about 8 Ball and MJG? No one likes them either?
  4. Like the few before me have said, LT has to be the best overall player in the NFL. Ray Lewis would be 2nd on my list, followed by Priest Holmes. It's just unreal that LT performs so well for such a terrible team. You'd figure an opposing team would just key on him but from the looks of things he still finds his way to get invovled. BTW, despite the riskyness Michael Vick reminded us all how good he can be when he uses his true weapons. Sure it'll be better in the long run for him to be able to drop back in the pocket and deliver the ball to his recievers with ease, but until that day comes he's going to have to use his legs. He was simply sensational against the Rams today.
  5. Gameplay indeed is the most important part of the game, and while I've not played this year's Madden I can for one say that ESPN NFL 2K5 is a fantastic game. The presentation is unreal, after going through a week of games in Franchise Mode the little Sportscenter show that is available for you is a great touch. I also find the gameplay to have been upgraded from the last version. While I've yet to play Madden, I defintely would recommend 2K5 to any football fanatic. I couldn't pass it up because of the price tag.
  6. No one cares about Amatuer Wrestlers. USA will win Gold. There is no way that team can leave Athens with anything less. They are motivated now especially after Italy embarassed em.
  7. I also thought that would be the perfect fit for Fisher. A 3 man nucleus of T-Mac/Yao/Fisher would be fun to watch. Especially if Fisher is knocking down the trey like he is expected to do.
  8. Well the last two Championship teams haven't had two stars. You could argue that in 03 San Antonio had Robinson/Duncan, but Robinson was past his prime and Duncan carried that team. I don't think you need two superstars to win a title, as long as you have great chemistry and solid players it can work wonders.
  9. Saying Dallas won't play defense with Shaq has to be one of the most insane comments I've heard in this thread. Adding Shaq to your team gives you an inside presence like none other. Although Shaq barely plays any D nowadays, at least you won't have to worry about guys driving straight to the hoop on Dallas without getting smacked around. And who is this idiot that keeps saying Nash is a SG? Nash is a great PG, one of the top 5 in the league, and if he comes to Denver you'd put him at the 2? You must be nuts. T-Mac in Houston is a fantastic move, I'll love to see how he fits in with Yao. Should be a great tandem considering Yao is as unselfish as they get. Today on Around The Horn, Jay Marriotti said something interesting, "You need 2 Superstars in the NBA to win a title." Seeing as how the Pistons just won a title without any bonafide Superstars, do you agree with his statement or not? He also says Houston contends for the championship next season, and I would agree with him if Houston adds Derek Fisher to their sqaud. They need a PG.
  10. Well if Shaq doesn't get his demanded trade, he might retire. He's said he will not play for the Lakers next season, but maybe since it is difficult to trade him that he will have to eat his words and he'll be in the Purple and Gold again. Hopefully he's traded because I want to see if Kobe can carry a basketball team to a championship.
  11. As Syco said, Kobe will remain in the purple and gold. He's gotten Phil out, and Shaq's on his way out too. What more could he want, now LA is his team. No questions about it.
  12. Considering that Boston still leads the NBA with most championships won(16), I wouldn't say there legacy is dead yet. I'd expect that type of comment from a Lakers fan, oh right you are one.
  13. Damn well Jameer is heading to Orlando. That could work out because he'd get to play under a fantastic PG in this league in Steve Francis, or if T-Mac stays which is highly unlikely Jameer might be able to come in and start. Bulls- Gordon, Deng, and Duhon! Great picks by the Bulls, but know that I think about it some of those guys could be getting shipped to Boston! Remember the Bulls and Celtics were supposedly talking in getting Pierece to the Bulls, and Danny Ainge is slowiy killing the legacy of the Celtics. If Pierce comes over, they could send all 3 of these guys and either Chandler or Curry or both of those busts. The Bulls should be kicking themselves for letting Brand get away, a guaranteed 20-10 guy, and they gave him away for an uproven high-schooler, all because of "potiental." Sorry I'm getting off topic, I can't believe I read someone state there won't be any superstars from this draft. Maybe it's just me, but Ben Gordon has superstar written all over him. Nobody really had him going 3, but the Bulls knew that if he was available they had to take him. He reminds me of Dwayne Wade, but a better shooter which brings a great package. Hopefully if he remains with the Bulls, I'll get to see him blossom into a superstar I believe he can be. Also Shaun Livingston brings something to the table that has become a lost art in this game, and that's the ability to make his teammates better. He's a guy I believe in when it becomes to potiental. I expect the top 5 picks to at least be bright starts in 5-8 years in the game, with Okafor/Gordon as All-Stars around that time.
  14. GREAT! As an Illinois native, I'm pleased that the Bulls drafted Gordon and essentially will have Deng also. That's great news. Orlando, such idiots, how can you pass on Okafor for an high-school kid? All this talk about potiental, potiental doesn't win games. Okafor is the real deal, when he's putting up 17 and 10 and getting 2.5 blocks a game and wins rookie of the year Orlando will be kicking themselves. I also like Andre Iguadola(sp?) going to Philly, that dude is a freak of nature and will raise some heads. Now I just need to see where Jameer Nelson is going and I will no longer need to watch the rest of this draft.(Huge Jameer Nelson fan, hope he goes somewhere decent)
  15. For the first time I agree with sydo, with Dixon and Woods on the board you've got to take both of them. I'm sure both will become good NBA pros when given the chance, and they wouldn't get a better chance then playing for a lowly expansion team. Woods was a beast in the Summer League, and I'm a Maryland guy so I've been a Juan Dixon fan for years now.
  16. I also agree that Ben Gordon will be the steal of this draft. I'm shocked that in some of the scouting reports I've read through that people weren't that excited about this guy. The teams who pass on Gordon will get burned just like the teams that passed on Paul Pierce in his draft, and last year with Wade. There was no way Wade should have dropped to 9th last year, but it worked out better for him because he had the longest season out of any of the Top 10 Draft Picks(Excluding Darko, but what the hell did he do?) If Gordon doesn't get drafted in the top 7, something is wrong.
  17. Seeing as I'm from Illinois, I'd love for that Boston-Chicago trade to follow through. Paul Pierce would get Chicago excited about basketball again, and maybe the Bulls could actually be competetive.
  18. He's absolutely right. Charlotte did the right thing by taking lots of young guys, and with given time who will improve as a team and eventually envolve into something great. Just take the Memphis Grizzlies for example. For years and years, they were terrible. Up until last season, they began to be competetive. Then this year they marched all the way into the playoffs. Picking up Chucky Atkins would have been ok, but Charlotte can sign a PG off the free-agent market or trade for one via the draft. You people sound like you expect this team to come in right away and be great. Well it's not going to happen in the NBA. As someone stated before, they want you to enjoy hardships before recieving any success.
  19. Actually Mobley is more of a PG then a SG. If you can remember back to his rookie season in 1999(Lockout Year), he played the point and didn't move to the 2 until Francis was drafted which I believe was the following year. I'm sure if Francis was traded to Seattle Mobley could fill the Point nicely for Orlando. But anyways I don't see why Francis doesn't want to go to Orlando. I sort of don't see why Francis doesn't want to go to Orlando. He has some good things working for him. 1. His buddy Cuttino Mobley will be joining him. 2. Playing in Orlando allows him to be more of a scoring PG, which he is more comfortable with. 3. Orlando has the number one draft pick, they should select Okafor who can come in and make an impact immediately. 4. Playing in the East>Playing In The West(East is more guard dominated while the West is filled with big men.)
  20. Exactly what I thought when I first seen em. They still are tight though. And I guess the rumors weren't off the wall about Dallas shaking the entire team up.
  21. How in the blue hell can any of you justify that T-Mac is a worse team player then Kobe. T-Mac has to be a ballhog in Orlando, because they have no one capable of doing anything big other then T-Mac. And since when did you become a member of the Lakers front office? "I don't want T-Mac." No one cares what you want. I bet if T-Mac came to LA and lead them to a championship you'd be alll over him. And yes these Lakers were a dynasty. These days in professional sports whenever you can manage to win back-to-back championships, let alone 3 in a row and make it to 4 NBA Finals in 5 Years that has to be something special.
