Pakistan in Australia

I fucking knew symonds would fall short of his century, no matter how much i willed it, unlucky. I agree about the LBWs, there must have been at least three that should have gone pakistans way, then again, they did drop three catches in the field (maybe more?). I'm glad Clarke got out for a low score, maybe that'll take some pressure off, since he'd been going insanely well lately, combined with his Alan Border Medal victory, everyone had huge expectations for him, maybe now people will realise the guys' human. Who got man of the match? I didnt see the end, i hope it was symonds, he played really well, Inzy is in killer form too, he's probably been the most consistent batter in the tournament.

I wasnt hating on Shoaib, chill :P I was merely making an observation, that as a team, pakistan have been playing alot better since he left, it seems as if the rest of the bowlers, rana in particular, have really stepped up to fill the void his departure left in the bowling attack, and i never mentioned sami ;)

I wasn't just saying you.....but I'm talking Cricket analysis in general. Given the right captain (i.e Moin Khan or Younis Khan) those two would be just fine.

See my edited post up above yours,

He's played VERY well in the VB series, and more than deserves his spot in the current side, on CURRENT form. Take a look at the stats i referenced, there's no way pakistan could justify dropping him.

You say he had an ordinary series with the ball, in a team context he perfomed well.

5th best bowling averages in his team

3rd higest wicket taker in his team

1st (best) economy rate in his team

And he's not even a specialist bowler, far from it, and he's out performed specialist bowlers in the team, when coupled with his excellent form with the bat (avg. 43.5, SR of 170!), there's tonnes of players they need to drop before him, and NO ONE better than him that is not already in the side.

5th best bowler in his team by average - in an ODI you should really only be using 5 bowlers, which means he's got the worst average of his starting team, around 38.

3rd highest wicket taker - he's got 8 wickets in 7 games. That's by far impressive, but maybe it reflects the weakness of the Pakistan attack?

ECON rate - Ok, I'll give you that one, 4.62 is a good rate.

My problem is still Afridi's inconsistancy. From what you've said Afridi is a batting all rounder, and a 40+ average is great justification for that. However, in his last 191 ODIs he's averaging under 25.

My point - I agree he should be picked on his form for the next tour, but I wouldn't have picked him on this tour to begin with.

I'm seriously confused as to what Pakistan was doing out there today. Why put Mahmood in the lineup if they weren't planning on bowling him? I'd much rather have Hameed in there instead (or even Butt). Yeah, so the umps screw us over yet again but I'm confident here but we CAN NOT lose any wickets early.

VB Series 2004-05

Pakistan call for two neutral umpires

The Pakistan board has asked the ICC to stand two neutral umpires in one-day internationals and review all the decisions from the VB Series in Australia, Reuters has reported.

Pakistan had a handful of lbw decisions go against them during the two finals losses against Australia, where one neutral umpire was employed alongside a home official in line with ICC regulations. Rudi Koertzen gave Adam Gilchrist a reprieve in the first over yesterday while Andrew Symonds survived a couple of close shouts at Melbourne. Michael Clarke was trapped in front by Rana Naved-ul-Hasan at the MCG and three Pakistan batsmen were given out lbw in the two matches.

The news agency reported a source close to the board saying a letter had been sent to Malcolm Speed, the ICC chief executive, asking for a review of all decisions because of "inconsistent" umpiring. Abbas Zaidi, the PCB director of media, said it was a "confidential document".

Inzamam-ul-Haq said he did not have a problem with the one-day umpiring. "But I think it's good for the game to have neutral umpires," he said. "There is a lot of pressure and umpires are human too."
