Vince Carter Traded

God, don't remind me about that.... I nearly swallowed my tongue during the final seconds of that game against Philly.

I will say one thing... Vince Carter was the best thing to happen to the Raptors thus far in the frachise's history. I'm not saying he made the team single handedly, but it he played a huge part in making the Raps something special in Southern Ontario. It was his influence that made guys like Jerome Willaims, Mo Pete, and Alvin Williams household names in Toronto. There was a time were Toronto loved Vince and Vince loved Toronto. Funny how quickly the fans can turn on you when you are constantly in the public's eye.

It was Vince Carter that made me get into basketball. I'm sure I'm not the only person who can say that. And it pisses me off when people say that Vince didn't care about the Raptors during his finals years... Hell, if I would have done so much for a team as well as a city, only to have the fans who once cheered me rip off my head and shit down my neck just because I made a few iffy public moves and had a bad season, I'd be a little pissed off and unmotivated too.

I'm sorry, I just got a little caught up in the moment.

Regardless, I salute him.... Good bye, Vince, and thank you.

If it was warm here we'd still have T-Mac <_<

I think we have seen Carter's best days here and now that those are declining mangement traded him although i think we got ripped off :( I heard something about getting some more if we traded Rose too.

The Knicks offered the Raptors Tim Thomas and Penny (I'm not sure if or how many draft picks were involved) to take Carter's contract and Rose's off of us. I doubt we would have had 2 first rounders from them though. The Raptors wanted Tim Thomas, Kurt Thomas, JYD and one more person.

I think they made the right move also. Seeing the team as it is, the team is still competitive. Aaron and Eric Williams can provide solid minutes off the bench, Zo is doing good and with the right amount of people around him, he can be really good. Plus, the younbg big guys like Bosh can learn a thing or two from Zo. If they keep Rose and Marshall, who have been on trade rumors, the team still has a shot to bounce back. Remember that they played better without Vince.

As for Carter, I like the guy, but I think that the injuries have hurt him too much and he wont recover to be a markee player again, a good player yes, but not an amazing one. He will be 10 times better if he works with Jefferson and Kidd and they click as an unit. The Nets can be really dangerous if this works out and hopefully Kidd will stay since the Nets have shown him that they are willing to move people and try to be a winning team again.

Personally, I think the Raps got ripped off. The raps could have gotten so much more (in my opinion). However, I can still see the positive in it. The two Williams can produce off the bench, which is a plus. The draft picks could produce other Bosh-like players (even though they are first round there are no guarentees).

The thing that can go either way is Alonzo. He could show up and end up playing for the rest of the season (which is unlikely) which would give us a vetren presense in the centre spot. What is most likely is for him to ride the injured list for the rest of the season, which could still be a benefit. He could teach our young centres so much.

Are you fucking kidding me?

Vince Carter may have got his wish and escaped the NBA's Canadian franchise, but is there more to Raptor's GM Rob Babcock's decision to pull the trigger than meets the eye?

According to Tacoma News Tribune writer Frank Hughes the Carter trade came less than 48 hours after Babcock was interviewed for a story about Carter’s actions against the Seattle SuperSonics Nov. 19.

Three Sonics players have alleged that Carter intentionally tipped off a play during the final minute of the Raptors’ 101-94 loss to the Sonics in Toronto.

With 29 seconds remaining in that game and the Sonics leading 97-90, the Raptors called a timeout. After returning to the court, Carter lined up along the edge of the key. He was facing the Sonics’ bench with his hands on his knees.

According to a member of the Sonics, before the play began, Carter said directly to the Seattle bench, “It’s a flare. It’s a flare.” Two other members of the Sonics confirmed that Carter told the Sonics bench that the Raptors were running the flare play.

Inbounding the ball above the Sonics bench, the Raptors then immediately ran a flare play for Carter.

According to one member of the Sonics, the bench reacted immediately to what Carter said, with Sonics players saying, “Did you hear that? Did you see that? That’s (expletive) up.”

Another member of the Sonics said he discussed the play with a coach after the game, and the coach said, “If you ever do that, I’ll run you out of the league.”

Allen, who was guarding Carter, said: “I didn’t hear it, but that’s what those other guys were saying (after the game), Reggie (Evans) and those other guys. But all I said was, ‘Why would he do that?’ I don’t know why he would do that.”

According to Hughes, when asked to detail the incident Evans chose not to discuss specifics.

“I don’t want to get involved in that stuff, man,” Evans said. “That stuff is deep. I ain’t scared of Vince or nothing like that, but that is between him and his conscience. I ain’t saying it did happen or it didn’t happen. I’ll leave that for Ray. I’ll let Ray do all that type of talking, man.”

“For real. I’ll let Ray open his mouth, he is the one ... who got into it with Kobe (Bryant), so I will just leave that alone. I don’t want to get into no beef with nobody.”

Carter, reached through Raptors spokesman Jim LaBumbard, responded, “I’m not going to comment on something as ridiculous as that.”

Babcock was reached on Wednesday evening and said: “I hadn’t heard that. I would hope that would not be the case, but I am not aware of that. If he did do that, I would be quite upset with that. But I don’t know anything about that. It is nothing I heard.”

“That’s the type of thing that, if I was aware of it, we would deal with it internally, and we certainly would deal

with it. But I am not aware of that.”

“If something comes up to me like that, and it is solid, and it is obvious that it did happen, we would take care of it internally.”

I heard that this morning and from what was said that little shit move by Carter kept him from going to a team that he wanted to go to. He wanted to go to New York or Minnesota. New York had offered Tim Thomas and Penny Hardaway and Minnesota had offered Sprewell and the rights to Rick Rickert. Instead they sent Carter to the Nets, getting the draft picks (which should help) and garbage players in return just to spite Carter. Good job Vinsanity, that's what you get for being an asshole.
