WWF 2002 - The Draft

This is really good guys. The fact that you both write in different styles only adds to the diary as it helps solidfy the two brands as seperate entities.

It's also good to see that while some similar storylines have been used (eg. Austin), some very different ones have ben used (eg. Test) and likewise on SmackDown.

You have put together a good draft here, and only time will tell as to whether this goes on from strength, or fails like so many split diaries have. I hope it is the former, and this diary goes on for a long time, and as it does, I will keep reading.

RAW - April 15th, 2002

[ Opening Montage ]

Following the trademark WWF Entertainment montage, we're taken to a shot of a clear-colored Steve Austin standing between a red-colored Ric Flair and a blue-colored Vince McMahon. Austin is shown picking up the RAW contract and his form turns to a light red before he places it back on the table and then picks up the Smackdown contract as his body turns blue. We then see Austin hitting Flair with the Stunner as his body goes completely blue, only to stand and hit McMahon with one as well. We're shown Stone Cold signing the RAW contract as his form turns red and then getting right into McMahon's unconcious face and berating him. From there, we open upon the rampway where multi-colored colors explode in a spetacular showing of pyrotechnics. The camera's circle around the MGM Grand to show the sold-out arena with nearly 8,000 fans screaming at the top of their lungs. We hear Jim Ross and Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler greeting us to the show but before we can even get to the commentary booth, the glass shatters and the crowd once again explodes as Stone Cold swaggers out onto the rampway.

Ross: “Stone Cold is here! Stone Cold is here, King! And by gawd, the crowd is going wild as the Rattlesnake makes his way to the ring.”

King: “Ahh! RAW's newest signee is making his arrival and the fans love it.”

Appearing on the rampway in his traditional attire of blue jean shorts and an Austin tee-shirt, Stone Cold swaggered down the rampway quickly as the crowd went nuts. Reaching the ring, Austin ascended the steel steps quickly and stepped in through the middle ropes. From there, the Rattlesnake climbed the ring ropes of every corner and raised his arms before finally stopping in the middle of the squared circle where he called for the microphone. Upon retreaving it, Austin paused as he music cut off before speaking.

Austin: “Allow me to introduce myself. (WHAT?!) My name is Stone Cold Steve Austin (WHAT?!) and this is my damn show. (WHAT?!) It isn't Ric Flair's. (WHAT?!) It isn't Vince McMahon's. (WHAT?!) It isn't Linda McMahon's. (WHAT?!) It's Stone Cold Steve Austin's. (WHAT?!) And you know, (WHAT?!) there's alot of son uva' bitches running around (WHAT?!) who seem to think they can do whatever they want. (WHAT?!) Well, Steve Austin just ain't gonna have that! (WHAT?!) Because Ric Flair may not do nothing, but I sure as hell will. (WHAT?!) And you little gutless bastard's in the back (WHAT?!) better be listening (WHAT?!) because the Rattlesnake ain't in no damn moods (WHAT?!) to play. (WHAT?!) So let me tell you something, (WHAT?!) if you give me trouble, (WHAT?!) I'm gonna stomp the living hell out of you. (WHAT?!) And that's the bottom li---…”

But before Austin could continue, he was interrupted by the sounds of Booker T's music who made his way past the curtains with an angry look upon his face. Dressed in street clothes, Booker ignored the jeers and taunts of the crowd as he started down to the ring with his eyes locked on the Rattlesnake. Climbing up the steel steps, Booker scaled the apron and then entered through the middle ropes where he brought himself up in the corner and raised his arms into the air only to be met with boo's. Dropping off, he retreaved a microphone from an attendant and stepped up to Austin before speaking.

Booker: “Stone Cold Steve Austin, who the hell do you think you are comin' out here and running your damn mouth like that!? 'Cause, see sucka, I got something to tell YOU, Stone Cold. You ain't the man around here.. Booker T is. See, Austin, this ain't your show either. It's Booker T's! But you know what, Austin? I don't even want to be on this damn show. I had a huge deal with Vince McMahon and Smackdown lined up.. and then Ric Flair goes and drafts me to 'YOUR SHOW.' So sucka, get it straight. This is Booker T's show.”

Austin smirked and almost laughed, rubbing at his chin before speaking.

Austin: “Okay, Booker. (WHAT?!) I got you. (WHAT?!) But I got a question for you, too. (WHAT?!) Who in the hell do you think YOU are? (WHAT?!) Booker T, you're lucky I'm sober right now or I'd beat the hell out of you. (WHAT?!) I mean, you come out here in your little Rock-wannabe get up (WHAT?!) and try to act like you're a damn somebody. (WHAT?!) But you're just a nobody. (WHAT?!) A loser. (WHAT?!) A piece of trash. (WHAT?!) A stupid son ova' bitch. (WHAT?!) Booker T, you want to go be on Smackdown so bad? (WHAT?!) You want to be a star (WHAT?!) The main man? (WHAT?!) The American Idol? (WHAT?!) Well then get the hell off my show. (WHAT?!) Because no one but Ric Flair (WHAT?!) is keeping you here and I'm sure he won't care (WHAT?!) if you go.”

Booker bit his lower lip and it was obvious that tempers were about to boil over as he spoke again.

Booker: “Sucka, shut the hell up! You know I'm a bigger star than you'll ever be and you're just jealous. Jealous of Booker T.. the five time, five time, five time, five time, five time... WCW World Champion. Now can you dig that, sucka? But Austin, I think I like it right here just fine because when I'm on RAW, it ain't no problem beating the hell out of sucka's like you!”

With that, Booker threw a fist as he tossed the microphone aside but Austin came back with a right of his own and soon the two were involved in a few on scuffle. Officials quickly hit the ring to seperate the two, but not before Austin floored Booker and then leaped on him where the two began to roll around exchanging blows. From there, the two men were held apart as they attempted to get loose and get to one another again. The crowd went nuts but the WWF officials finally managed to get the two men calmed down and to the back so that RAW could officially start.

(89)

Ross: “Dear lord, what a way to start RAW off. Booker T obviously has no business being on RAW because he doesn't want to be. He'd rather be on Smackdown with Mr. McMahon and as Austin said, he should strike a trail!”

King: “Please, JR. Stone Cold is just jealous of Booker's success wherever he goes. Austin thought he had the biggest deal in the WWF, until he saw what Vince McMahon offered Booker T before the draft. He's just jealous.. simple as that.”

Ross: “Oh yeah, King. Stone Cold is jealous of Booker T. That'll be the day! But in any case, ladies and gentlemen welcome to RAW and it appears that we're about to get into our opening match.”

Match One - Al Snow vs 'Hardcore' Bob Holly

Snow entered first and was soon followed by Holly, who was attired in a pair of black thigh-level tights. JR pointed out that this was a battle of the Tough Enough trainers and it was certainly a battle as neither man let up the entire way through. Holly worked his usual stiff style and drilled Snow with a combo of chops and power moves. But Snow risked life and limb, going through the middle ropes to hit a suicide dive to turn the tide. Bakc inside, Snow hit a huge Superplex off the middle ropes for the rollup but Holly's foot had flopped onto the ropes and the referee noticed it at two. Snow whipped Holly into the ropes for a clothesline, but Hardcore was able to duck on the return and instead locked Snow in a chokehold. Snow went down, but as the referee raised his arm twice, he shot it back up and managed to drop Holly with a back suplex. Snow went to the top for a Moonsault, but Holly moved before Snow could connect and the Alabama Slam ended things at 7:38.

Winner: 'Hardcore' Bob Holly, (64/61/67, *)

[ Commercial Break ]

Once the previous competitors had made their way to the back, the sounds of Test's music filled the air and the crowd immediately shot to their feet in boo's. Making his way out past the curtains in a pair of leather pants with his immunity papers in hand, Test smirked as the crowd jeered him loudly. Strolling down the rampway, Test made his way up the steel steps and entered the ring where he again held his immunity papers up before retreaving a microphone. Pointing out a random person in the front row, Test began to jaw off at them as his music died down before finally speaking into the mike.

Test: “Shut up and listen to me! Now, in less than a week, I will face Kane at Backlash and I intend to do everything I can to make sure he never returns to the WWF after that. Why, you ask? Haha, well it's simple. Because I can! You see, these papers that I hold in my hand, give me the power to do anything I want. And come this Sunday, I'm going to do anything I want to make sure Kane cannot even walk! Haha. Because, you see, I am out to make sure everyone knows that Test is for real. And in reality, these immunity papers are a true blessing to me because now, I can show off what I can truly do without worrying about being punished by people like Ric Flair who view my actions as immoral and wrong. Well, Ric, you'll just have to put up with it for another year. Haha, but let me get to my point. Kane, I know you're probably watching this from wherever you are.. I assume you have cable in your hospital room .. so I want to give you a preview of what's going to occur come Backlash. Bring him out!”

With that, Test lowered the microphone as Tommy Dreamer's music hit and the crowd cheered the former ECW alumni who was making his entrance. Making his way down to the ring, Dreamer eyed Test suspiciously as Test just smirked before handing the microphone to an attendant and awaiting his opponent's entrance.

(58)

Match Two - Tommy Dreamer vs Test

As Dreamer climbed through the ring ropes, Test immediately bumrushed him and sent several knee's into Dreamer's ribcage. Pulling him into the ring, Test tossed Dreamer to the canvas where he began to lay into him with more boots. Finally, Test pulled Dreamer up and whipped him into ropes where he connected with a Big Boot as he returned. Turning towards the crowd, Test began to taunt some of the fans in the front row but was suddenly floored from behind by Dreamer! Pulling him up, Dreamer went for a Double-Arm DDT, but Test managed to lift him up and over the ropes and dropped him to the outside. Climbing out of the ring, Test threw Dreamer into the steps several times before rolling him back into the ring. From there, Test hit a Clothesline off the top rope before ending things at 5:19 with a Pump Handle Slam. Afterwards, Test rolled to the outside to retreave a chair and then climbed back in where he began to tease nailing Dreamer. But suddenly, the lights dimmed and the organ of Kane's music filled the arena. Test looked around in fear as the fire exploded from the ring posts and rampway but no one came out. Shaking his head as the lights returned to normal and Kane's music cut off, Test turned around right into Kane! Test had time to look at the Big Red Machine in shock, before being lifted into the air and dropped with a huge Chokeslam! Test quickly rolled out of the ring and began to crawl up the rampway as Kane tightened his glove and pointed at him.

Winner: Test, (71/61/81, **½)

Ross: “Kane is back! Kane is back! The Big Red Machine is back and by gawd, come Sunday it's going to be nothing but hell, fire, and brimstone for Test! Did you see the look in his eyes, King? Test is scared and he knows he'll have no chance come Backlash.”

King: “Please, JR. Kane had to sneak into the ring behind Test just to get the upperhand. If anyone is scared, it's Kane! JR, at Backlash, Test will show us who the real monster is and there will be no chance for Kane. Haha!”

As JR and King continued to argue, we were taken to Ric Flair's locker room where the General Manager was talking with Arn Anderson about The Undertaker and his opponent. Arn continued to beg Flair to tell him whom Undertaker's opponent would be, but Flair simply said he couldn't tell him. The two continued to talk, but suddenly the door flew open and in stepped The Undertaker with Eddie Guerrero right behind him. Flair jumped to his feet as did Arn, but the Red Devil held his hands up to show that there was no problems.

Undertaker: “Whoa, there. I don't want no trouble, Ric. We're pals, right? Of course we are. But really, we just stopped in to see who my opponent for this Sunday is. I mean, I should know as I did lay out the open challenge and from what I've heard, you've already signed the match. So Ric, who am I going to be facing this Sunday?”

Flair: “'Taker, you've got a lot of nerve coming in here and asking me that. But as a matter of fact, I have signed the match and I do know who your opponent is. But, you're not going to find out until later tonight. Who knows, he might even show up and tell you himself. You never know.”

Undertaker looked back at Eddie, who shrugged his shoulders, before eyeing Flair again.

Undertaker: “Okay, Flair. I got you. Yeah, I can see where you're coming from. And I hope my opponent does show up tonight so I can show him what's going to happen come this Sunday. Let's go, Eddie.”

'Taker and Eddie exited Flair's office as Flair and Arn eyed each other, both smirking. From there, the camera followed Eddie and Undertaker out of the room where they ran into the Big Show.

(71)

As Undertaker and Eddie exited Flair's office, they walked right into The Big Show who appeared to be angry as always. Eddie smirked and stepped up to Big Show before looking back at 'Taker and speaking.

Eddie: “Well, look who it is. The Big Show. Ooh, how's it going essa? You feeling alright after that beating Test gave you? Coming by to check up on Mr. Flair? Hey, I ain't got no problem with that essa. Go on and check on your buddy, Big Show. Hahaha!”

Guerrero smirked, but was surprised when a right hand came right into his jaw from Big Show! The two immediately began to trade fists until Show won out and tossed Eddie head first into the wall, before being attacked from behind by Undertaker. Officials hit the scene in a hurry as Flair and Arn rushed out to see what was going on. Finally, officials managed to seperate the two as Show attempted to get at Eddie, while Guerrero tried to get away.

Flair: “Damnit, what's going on here!? You two can't even stay out of trouble for five minutes, can you. You know what Eddie, someone needs to teach you right from wrong and I know the perfect man to do that. Hell, we've got an open spot on Backlash and think you two would be perfect for it. I tell you what, Eddie. Sunday night, WWF Backlash, it's going to be The Big Show taking on Eddie Guerrero. Now get the hell out of here and get ready for your match tonight!”

Eddie, upon hearing this, went wide-eyed as The Big Show smirked and laughed. Finally, Undertaker was able to pull Eddie away as we were taken to a commercial break.

(84)

[ Commercial Break ]

Ross: “Did you hear that, King?! It's gonna be The Big Show versus Eddie Guerrero at Backlash!”

King: “Ahh! Yes I heard it! Come on Eddie, you're smarter than that.. you should've just keep quiet. JR, even I have to question Eddie's chances against The Big Show!”

Ross: “You're right, King. Eddie's chances against The Big Show are small, especially against an angry Big Show! He should've kept his mouth shut.”

King: “Come on, JR. Eddie will find a way to get through it. He always does. Haha!”

Ross: “I doubt that very much, King. But right now, Jonathan Coachman is standing by with The Rock!”

We were then taken to the RAW interview area, where Jonathan Coachman was standing beside The Rock who was already in his ring attire. Flexing his pecs and staring off camera, The Rock smirked as Coachman brought the microphone to his lips and spoke.

Coachman: “Thank you, JR. I'm here with The Rock, who later tonight will team with Triple H to take on The Undertaker and Eddie Guerrero! Now Rock, last week Y2J Chris Jericho attacked you and some people are saying it was because you had defeated him just a week earlier. What are your thoughts?”

The Rock paused and looked at Coach, before snatching the microphone out of his hand and speaking.

Rock: “FINNNAAALLLYYYY...... THE ROCK HAS COME BACK.... TO LAS VEGAS, NE--VA--DA! Coach, you want to know why Y2J attacked The Rock? Because it's very simple. Chris Jericho is jealous of The Rock. You see, The Rock is a former multi-time Champion, The Rock is a marketing dream, and The Rock is a superstar. Three things that Chris Jericho will NEEVVEERRRRR, EVVEEEEERRRRR be. And he knows it to. So yes, Chris Jericho is jealous of The Rock. But he has a right to be. And for that, The Rock forgives Y2J for what he did last week.”

The Rock lowered the mic and smirked as Coach's eyes went wide and he gave Rock a look as if to say 'really?'

Rock: “PSYCHE! Haha, Chris Jericho, you're a total assclown to think you can just beat the hell out of The Rock and get away with it. Because come Sunday, at Backlash? The Rock will hold nothing back on your candy ass. And it's going to be bad, Jericho. Oh yeah, it's going to be REAL bad. It's gonna be the Thrilla in Manilla. The Rumble in the Jungle. The beatdown of an assclown. The beating of a lifetime, Chris Jericho. And it's gonna be The Rock who's dishing it out. And as for The Undertaker and Eddie Guerrero, I've got just three words for them: JUST BRING IT. IF YAAA SMEELLLLLLLLLLLLLL.... WHAT THE ROCK.... IS COOKIN'.”

With that, The Rock tossed the microphone to Coach and then stormed off screen as Coachman stared at the camera and we were quickly taken back to the arena.

(100)

Match Three - WWF European Title: William Regal © vs Matt Hardy

Accompanied by Lita, Hardy hit the ring last and the two quickly locked up. Regal managed to win out and spun around behind Hardy into a waistlock before dropping him onto the canvas. From there, Regal pulled Hardy into a headlock and then held on tight but Hardy managed to grab the ropes which forced Regal to release the hold. Rising, Regal pulled Hardy up and hit him with a few chops against the ropes before sending him into the corner with an irish whip. Regal rushed in for a splash but Hardy got his feet up and he stumbled back. Hardy then rushed out for a clothesline but Regal ducked and dropped him with a stiff uppercut. Pulling Hardy up, Regal whipped him into the ropes and went for the DDT upon his return but Matt managed to counter by running the European Champion into the ropes. Matt then backed up and rushed in for a Leap of Faith, but Regal caught him and then simply dropped him onto the outside. The crowd groaned as Matt hit the outside, but surprisingly, he got up favoring his head and reentered the ring. Regal looked surprised, but quickly went for Hardy with a few blows to the head. Hardy came back with a shot of his own and then whipped Regal into the ropes, connecting with a dropkick as he returned. Pulling him up, Hardy went for the Twist of Fate but Regal countered by pulling Hardy's legs out from under him and locking him into the STF! Hardy yelled in pain, but refused to give up. He inched to the ropes and was within a foot of them but Regal quickly yanked him back into the center of the ring and he had no choice but to submit. Afterwards, Regal celebrated his victory with the title in hand as Lita checked on Matt.

Winner: And Still Champion, William Regal, (75/76/75, **¼)

Ross: “Damnit, William Regal picks up the victory but I've got to hand it to him! He was able to counter Matt Hardy's Twist of Fate into that painful STF for the submission win.”

King: “Come on, JR. Regal had this one in the bag so give him some credit. He didn't even have to use the Power of the Punch. Haha!”

Ross: “I did give him some credit, but I believe Matt Hardy deserves just as much for lasting as long as he did while being locked in the STF.”

King: “Please. Losers never deserve any credit.”

Ross: “I'll have to disagree with that one King, but by the sound of that music, it's time for the main event!”

King: “I can't wait.”

Match Four: The Undertaker & Eddie Guerrero vs The Rock & Triple H

Undertaker and Guerrero were the first to enter, followed by The Rock who rushed right into a two-on-one attack. But suddenly, The Game's music roared to life and Triple H rushed to his partner's aid. To begin with, the match was a huge brawl between the four men with 'Taker and Triple H going at it while Rock and Guerrero slugged it out as well. Helmsley and Undertaker fought to the outside, while Rock won out the slugfest with Eddie and hit a huge Rockbottom! The People's Elbow attempt followed, but Rock ran right into a Chokeslam from The Undertaker. The Game rushed back inside as well and went for the Pedigree, which connected, but at two, Eddie was up to break the pinfall! The two then began to doubleteam on Triple H until The Rock got back into things, taking Eddie down with a huge spinebuster. Helmsley hit the Kneesmash on Undertaker and went for another Pedigree, but this time Undertaker lifted Helmsley up and over and then began to slug it out with The Rock. Rolling to the outside, Eddie retreaved a steel chair and went to hit Rock, but Triple H yanked it away and hit a Pedigree instead! Triple H then began to stomp away at Undertaker in the corner but when we went for an irish whip, 'Taker reversed it and sent Helmsley into the referee! With the referee down, Undertaker retreaved the steel chair and drilled The Rock before driving the end of it into Triple H's sternum and then hitting a Chokeslam. The Last Ride followed, right onto the chair! Kicking the chair out, 'Taker made the pin as Eddie awoke the referee who made the slow count and awarded the match to Eddie and Undertaker at 9:59. But it wasn't over yet. Pulling Helmsley up, Undertaker threw him into the corner and began to go at him with shots but suddenly, the crowd exploded in cheers as unfamiliar music, at least to RAW, blarded over the speakers.

When it comes crashing down, and it hurts inside,

ya' gotta take a stand, it don't help to hide,

Well, you hurt my friends, and you hurt my pride,

I gotta be a man; I can't let it slide,

I am a real American, Fight for the rights of every man,

I am a real American, fight for what's right, fight for your life!

The camera zoomed in on the looks of both Undertaker and Triple H, who were looking at the entrance way. Suddenly, the curtains parted and out came Ric Flair in suit-and-tie carrying a microphone. But behind him came a flash of red and yellow, though seemingly less bulkier, pale, and younger. As he entered the ring, the camera zoomed in to reveal... Steven Richards? Indeed and both Undertaker and Triple H eyed each other in surprise but were soon, 'Taker was on the receiving end of a fist from Richards. The Rock and Triple H quickly joined in and layed both Eddie and Undertaker out as Richards stood by posing for the crowd. Turning his attention back to the action, Richards came off the ropes and hit a leg drop on both Eddie and 'Taker before standing and posing for the crowd; everyone having no clue as to what was going on.

Winner: The Undertaker & Eddie Guerrero, (84/89/75, **½)

Back on the rampway, Flair called for a cease to the action and brought the microphone to his lips as Richards continued to pose. Meanwhile, Helmsley had retreaved his title and was also posing as was The Rock. Flair quickly addressed what was going on.

Flair: “Undertaker, you wanted to know who your opponent was for this Sunday and well, there he is! Ladies and gentlemen, at Backlash, it's going to be The Undertaker taking on Hollywood Stevie Hogan!”

Flair then turned and headed for the back as Richards continued to pose alongside The Game and Rock. Meanwhile, the camera zoomed in on The Undertaker who had fallen to the outside and had his eyes rolled into the back of his head as RAW went off the air.

(100)

Ross: “Steven Richards?! Steven Richards is going to be The Undertaker's opponent for this Sunday? Does he even stand a chance?”

King: “No JR, he doesn't. And Richards must've done something really bad to make Ric Flair so angry that he put him in a match with The Undertaker.”

Ross: “Uhm, well, in any case, red and yellow is running wild tonight on RAW and perhaps it will be this Sunday. Ladies and gentlemen, WWF Backlash comes to you live this Sunday only on Pay Per View.”

King: “What a night, JR.”

Taped from the Compaq Centre – Houston, Texas

SmackDown kicked off in typical fashion with the SmackDown owner Vince McMahon making his way to the ring for an announcement. He said that this Sunday at Backlash, Bradshaw would have a match; a match which he will really enjoy because he will be able to get his hands on the group of people who have been making his life a misery for the past couple of weeks. McMahon announces Bradshaw vs.…a member of the nWo to be announced on the night! McMahon laughs his evil laugh before telling Bradshaw that he should train hard for this match, because he won’t know who he’s gonna get.

McMahon moved on from the nWo and Bradshaw to talk about the Backlash main event of Hollywood Hogan vs. Triple H. He talks about how he heard a vicious rumour that Triple H is in cahoots with the nWo, and that they didn’t attack him last week because of their alliance. He asks for the footage to be shown, and we see Hogan, Edge and Bradshaw being beaten down by the nWo and Kurt Angle, while Triple H is nowhere to be seen. He said that Triple H was “knocked out” by a big boot from Kevin Nash and he lay outside the ring while his Backlash opponent was beaten up, or softened up, by the nWo. He asks if that sounds fishy to anyone, and says it certainly seems fishy to him. McMahon then tells Hogan that Triple H can’t be trusted, and says that he has first hand experience of that. He goes on to make a double main-event of Hollywood Hogan vs. nWo member X-Pac as well as Triple H taking on the Olympic Gold medallist Kurt Angle!

Taka Michinoku def. Billy Kidman

Taka was accompanied by his associate/boss/friend Tajiri while Billy Kidman came down with Jeff Hardy, just for back up. During the match, Michael Cole announced that Jeff Hardy and Billy Kidman would team up to take on the team of Tajiri and Taka Michinoku this Sunday at Backlash, as Cole and Tazz talked about how great that match would be and they also discussed that the black mist that Tajiri spewed into the eyes of Torrie Wilson may have blinded her, although it’s unclear at this point how extensive the damage is but they confirmed she would not be in the corner of Kidman and Jeff this Sunday. Taka looked good in his first match on SmackDown for a very long time. Billy Kidman took Taka down with a BK bomb, and as the referee checked on Taka, Tajiri jumped up onto the apron and spewed the green mist into Kidman’s eyes! Jeff Hardy immediately jumped Tajiri, but in the ring Taka managed to get to his feet and deliver the Michinoku driver before covering for the 1…2…3!

Taka didn’t hang around long as Jeff returned to the ring to check on Kidman, who was wiping the mist from his eyes. Taka and Tajiri seemed happy about their actions tonight as they left the arena through the side of the ramp.

Brock Lesnar def. Danny D

‘Danny D’ is Danny Dominion, an independent wrestler. Lesnar got in the ring and opened up to allow Danny D to take some shots at him, which he did to zero effect. A sadistic smile appeared over Lesnar’s face before he flattened Danny D with a vicious clothesline that made the crowd ‘oooo’ before Lesnar hoisted him up and hit his deadly triple-powerbomb before Lesnar pinned him inside a minute.

Paul Heyman quickly entered the ring and stopped Lesnar from leaving, and pointed at Danny D before telling to “hit the F5”, so Lesnar picked him up in a fallaway slam position before throwing him onto his shoulders and hitting a fireman’s carry slam, which is the F5!

Instead of the music of Brock Lesnar playing, the music of Diamond Dallas Page hit! DDP came onto the stage with his headset-microphone on, but before he could say anything, Paul Heyman grabbed a microphone and told DDP not to interfere in this unless he wants to end up the same way he ended up last week. DDP told Heyman that Brock Lesnar impressed him just not, but beating a “jobber” is nothing special, and said that he thought Lesnar would challenge anyone in the SmackDown locker-room, and reminded Lesnar and Heyman that Danny D isn’t even a WWF superstar.

Heyman responded in kind, and said that next week on SmackDown, Brock Lesnar would step into the ring with an official SmackDown wrestler, but Heyman doesn’t know who he will challenge. Heyman then asked DDP who he would suggest, and DDP said HE would take on Brock Lesnar himself! Paul Heyman was a little shocked at this, but ended up accepting the match. DDP said that this Sunday he would teach Brock Lesnar a lesson, “and that’s not a bad thing, that’s a good thing”!

Chuck w/ Rico and Billy def. D-Von Dudley w/ Bubba Ray and Spike Dudley

Much like last week, the other half of each tag team faced off as a build up to this Sunday’s pay-per-view match. Spike, Rico, Bubba and Billy were brawling almost from the get-go outside the ring, and through all that Chuck was able to low-blow D-Von and nail the jungle kick for the win inside five minutes.

Outside, Spike and Bubba got the upper hand and sent Chuck and Billy scurrying before getting a hold of Rico and tossing him into the ring. Billy and Chuck contemplated returning to the ring to save their stylist, but decided against it as Bubba told Spike to get the tables as the Dudleyz delivered a devastating 3D through it! Spike then grabbed a microphone and then challenged Billy and Chuck to Tag Team titles match on behalf of his half-brothers. Billy and Chuck shook their heads and refused before walking off.

In the back we see Billy and Chuck talking about how despicable the Dudleyz are before they run into Mr. McMahon. McMahon wants to know why they refused the Dudleyz challenge, and they said that they don’t deserve a title shot after what they did to Rico. McMahon thinks about it and agrees, but then says Billy and Chuck must want some revenge. Billy and Chuck didn’t really seem to get it, and McMahon then said that he’s going to give them revenge by making a six-man tag match at Backlash with Rico, Billy and Chuck facing Bubba Ray, Spike and D-Von; the Dudley Boyz! He says that he’s going to add a stipulation that if the Dudley Boyz beat them, they get a WWF Tag Team title match next week on SmackDown. The champions didn’t look happy, but grudgingly accepted the match before McMahon walked off.

Backstage we see Trish Stratus arriving at the arena (she doesn’t have a match, why’s she here?) when out of nowhere, and for no explainable reason, Jazz jumped her! Jazz pounded away at her before slamming her head first into the door before telling her that she’s the Women’s champion, and no matter how much better Trish looks than her, that’s the way it’s always gonna be.

We see Triple H taping his wrists up when the camera shows two big legs in front of him. The camera pans up to reveal Kevin Nash, who has X-Pac and Scott Hall with him! Triple H looks at them all, seemingly expecting to be jumped when Kevin Nash hugs him! Triple H looks a little confused, but smiles as he hugs his friend. X-Pac and Hall join in the group hug before pulling back and Nash apologises for the boot to the face last week, and reminds him it was an accident. Triple H says he understands he was going for Hogan and all. Nash says they’re not doing anything tonight after X-Pac beats up Hogan, but they plan on sticking around for Triple H’s match with Kurt Angle later tonight. Hall tells him that they have his back no matter what happens. Triple H says he appreciates that, but tells the nWo that he’s doing things alone now. Nash says he understands and respects that, but tells him the offer is always open to “friends”. Nash, Hall and X-Pac leave Triple H to continue warming up as Tazz and Michael Cole speculate about whether Mr. McMahon sources were right about the nWo and Triple H being aligned.

Hollywood Hogan def. X-Pac w/ Kevin Nash and Scott Hall

Hogan came out with a bit of a pissed off look on his face after obviously seeing Triple H and the nWo meeting backstage just a minute ago, but it didn’t stop him from keeping his eye on the match, but the presence of his former team-mates, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash had that sorted out. X-Pac used his speed to his advantage against the much older Hogan, but the Hulkamaniacs just wouldn’t let Hogan lay down and die. X-Pac sent Hogan into the corner and nailed the spinning heel kick, taking Hogan down to the position for a Bronco Buster, but he ran straight into a boot in the groin from Hogan! Hogan got to his feet and knocked and incoming Scott Hall of the apron with a right hand and then went toe-to-toe with X-Pac and put X-Pac back on the defensive before whipping him across the ring for the big boot, but X-Pac ducked it and then nailed the X-Factor! X-Pac was on the verge of the biggest win in his entire career, but Hogan just kicked out and began Hulking up! Hogan fought to his feet, and then had X-Pac on the ropes before nailing the big boot, followed by the leg drop for the 1…2…3!

After the match, Hall and Nash got in the ring and attacked Hogan! The kicked and punched at him until Triple H ran down! Triple H got in Nash’s face and told him to back off, but Nash said this was between the nWo and Hogan and has nothing to do with Triple H. It seemed that Triple H saw Nash’s point, but told them to back off anyway. Nash held his hands up and the nWo left the ring after Nash gave the nWo handshake to Triple H. The champion got a mixed reaction from the crowd for that, but Triple H still made sure to check on Hogan.

We cut to the back where Marc Lloyd was standing by with Edge, and Lloyd asked him his feelings about going into his match with Kurt Angle this Sunday at Backlash, and Edge says he feels great. He says he’s got the Edgeheads behind him and he knows they’ll be backing him 100%, and talks about how Kurt Angle is a great wrestler, but he also has a “great big mouth”, and Edge says that come this Sunday, he’s going to shut it up for him.

Edge goes to walk off when he’s jumped from behind by Kurt Angle! Angle starts punching him in the head on the concrete floor before picking him up on his shoulders and hitting an Angle slam through a nearby table! Angle made sure to tell Edge that he was the best wrestler alive and that he would beat him this Sunday.

Kurt Angle def. Triple H

Angle is out first to a chorus of boos as well as the usual ‘you suck’ chants that go along with his entrance music. Triple H came out to a monstrous pop as the Undisputed champion took on Kurt Angle in a rematch from February’s No Way Out pay-per-view. A great back-and-forth match ensued, which saw Kurt Angle lock in the ankle lock at one point, and even though Triple H was clearly on the verge of tapping out, he managed to reach the ropes and have Angle release the hold. Angle put all his attentions into working on the champion’s ankle from then on. The big ending of the match came as Kurt Angle attempted to hit the Angle slam, but Triple H fell out the back door and then attempted to take Angle’s head off with a clothesline, but Angle ducked and Triple H accidentally knocked out the referee! Angle then took advantage of the champion’s mistake by finally nailing the Angle slam! Angle made the cover, but there was no referee to count, so Angle left the ring and brought a steel chair inside. Before Angle could use the chair, Hollywood Hogan came out to the ring! Hogan got into the ring and Hogan tried to convince Angle to drop the chair, but Angle was having none of it and tried to hit Hogan with it! Hogan ducked and started to punch away at Angle before nailing a big boot! Triple H then got to his feet and got in Hogan’s face and started to yell at him for interfering in his match, but Hogan tried to explain what he was doing out here. Hogan went to leave, but Triple H grabbed him by arm as he was on the apron and would not let him go, so he slapped Hollywood Hogan! Hogan returned the favour with a slap of his own before dropping off the apron, unknowingly assisting in Triple H’s downfall as Kurt Angle had gotten to his feet and low-blowed Triple H before rolling him up with a handful of tights as the referee counted the 1…2…3!

Hogan realised what he had done, and picked up Triple H’s Undisputed title before returning to the ring to hand it to him. Triple H looked utterly furious, but seemed to cool down when Hogan handed him back his title. But just as Hogan went to leave, Triple H spun him around and nailed the Pedigree! Triple H held the title in his hand, and shoved it in Hogan’s face before posing in the ring as SmackDown went off the air.
