10.29.05 Results from iMPACT!

The show opens with a video package showing Rhino winning the NWA World Title from Jeff Jarrett at Bound for Glory, followed up with a montage of tonight’s mainevent!

Rhino defeated Eric Young after hitting two Gores for good measure. Young didn’t stand too much of a chance as he tried assaulting Rhino as soon as he entered the ring, only to be thrown into the opposite turnbuckle and hit with a hard Clothesline. Young stumbled to the outside as Rhino nailed a Gore! Rhino didn’t stop there as he picked up Young and whipped him into the ropes only to hit another Gore for the win!

Backstage, Shane Douglas is standing with America’s Most Wanted and Jeff Jarrett. He asks Jarrett what happened at Bound for Glory, which angers Jarrett. He tells Douglas that it was a fluke and nothing more. Jarrett says that tonight is a preview of what’s going to happen to Team 3D at Genesis and that once Genesis is over, he’s coming to take back what’s rightfully his…the NWA World Title.

Kip James defeated A1 after Team Canada interfered on behalf of A1 causing the referee to declare a disqualification! Roode and A1 held Kip James while Coach D’Amore picked up the Canadian Flag and clocked it over the head of Kip James! 3LK came running down the ramp and cleared the ring as Team Canada escaped up the ramp, the damage done.

Larry Zybyszko is backstage with a microphone. He says he is sick of these ambush schemes and that if Team Canada wants a fight, then he’s going to give them a fight. He announces that at ‘Genesis’, it’s going to be 3LK and Kip James taking on A1, Bobby Roode, Eric Young, and Johnny Devine!

The X-Division is highlighted in a quick video montage of both the Ultimate X match as well as the 30-Minute Iron Man Match, both from Bound for Glory. It ends with an assembled image of Petey Williams staring down AJ Styles.

Petey Williams and Christopher Daniels defeated AJ Styles and Sonjay Dutt after an excellent, although short match. Styles was on his game tonight as he nailed numerous moves, including a fluid dive to the outside as well as an excellent Hurricanrana from the apron onto Daniels on the outside. The end sequence came as Daniels and Williams argued over who is the better #1 Contender allowing Styles to take Williams to the outside! Dutt climbed to the top and tried to hit a Sunset Flip on Daniels, but Daniels rolled through and picked up Dutt for the Angel’s Wings! 1…2…3!

Petey Williams picked up a microphone as he and Daniels argued over the title. Williams says that, unlike Christopher Daniels, he doesn’t need 30 Minutes with AJ Styles and that he can do it in 10 Minutes. The crowd boos, but Christopher Daniels grabs the microphone and says that if Williams wants to prove himself, then he should face AJ Styles in a Six Sides of Steel Match! Williams thinks for a second before accepting!

Samoa Joe defeated David Young in a quick squash match after hitting a running knee to the face of Young followed up with a Musclebuster and Rear Naked Choke Hold! Joe celebrated in the ring, but Simon Diamond and Elix Skipper hit the ring and assaulted him! Joe managed to fight off Skipper and threw him to the outside onto Young! Diamond rolled to the outside before Joe could deal the damage.

Shane Douglas is backstage with Monty Brown. Douglas asks him what his plans are after tonight. Brown tells Douglas that he is the most dominant man in the business and he will do whatever he wants. He says that is was a disgrace that he didn’t have a main match at Bound for Glory and that at Genesis, it’s all going to change. Douglas asks him what he means by that, and Brown responds by grabbing the nearby Larry Zybyszko. Brown tells Zybyszko to give him a title shot at Rhino. Zybyszko says he can have one if, at Genesis, he manages to shut Raven up once and for all. Brown laughs and says he can do that, before walking off.

Team 3D, Jeff Hardy, and Sabu defeated AMW, Monty Brown, and Abyss after a grueling, but spot filled match. The match saw many tags as well as interferences from the opposing team for both sides. The end of the match came after Sabu threw chairs at AMW before flying to the outside and taking both of them down! Inside the ring, Monty Brown went for The Pounce, but Jeff Hardy moved and Brown nailed Abyss! Monty Brown turned around and got nailed with The 3D! Jeff Hardy climbed to the top rope and nailed the Swanton Bomb for the win!

Afterwards, Monty Brown could not believe what happened as Team 3D celebrated with Sabu and Jeff Hardy!

Writer's Note: I'm still getting a feel for a good flowing presentation with the color scheme and all (since it's red rather than red and blue), so bare with me. Also, please feel free to be as harsh as possible for possible feedback as I'd like to improve my knowledge of TNA.

Afterwards, Raven’s music hit as he appeared atop the entrance ramp, microphone in hand! Raven asks Brown if their ‘friendship’ is worth being tested just for a title shot at Genesis. Raven tells Brown that since he’s a mere stepping stool on Brown’s way to the NWA World Title, Raven should have a little choice in the match. Brown looks confused, but Raven clears things up saying that at Genesis, it’s going to be Brown vs Raven in a Raven’s Rules Match!

Backstage, Matt Bentley and Traci Brooks are hanging out. Traci tells Matt that he’ll get the X-Division Title soon, but she has a match right now against Gail Kim. Bentley tells her to be careful and that she should watch out for Jeff Hardy who might try to pull a move on her. An advertisement for Genesis is aired, promoting the 6-Man Mainevent as Team 3D will team up with Rhino to take on Jeff Jarrett and America’s Most Wanted.

Kip James and Konan def. Bobby Roode and Johnny Devine after Team Canada made a botched attempt at interfering on behalf of Roode and Devine. Kip James was the center of attention here, clearing out both Roode and Devine one after another. Inside the ring, James finished off Devine with the Fame-Ass-Er!

Back in the backstage area, James Mitchell is standing alongside Abyss. He tells the fans that at Genesis, Sabu will have his last match, because Abyss is going to finish him off once and for all. He tells Sabu that he should enjoy his time until Genesis, because Abyss is going to end his career once and for all.

He looks upset as he tells us that it is disgraceful that he and Roderick Strong are on the free pre-Genesis show, when they should be in the mainevent. He throws down the microphone and leaves with Roderick Strong.

Petey Williams steps in and asks Douglas is he remembers what happened last Thursday on iMPACT and that he destroyed the X-Division Champion, AJ Styles. Jeff Jarrett tried interfering in the middle, but Team 3D came down to make the save. This brought out James Storm who received a Gore for his efforts as well! Team 3D and Rhino left the ring as Jeff Jarrett and AMW stared them down.

A video airs of Samoa Joe looking at the camera and telling The Diamonds in the Rough that their actions are inexcusable. Bentley goes for an early cover, but Jeff Hardy gets a shoulder up. Bentley gets upset as he picks up Jeff and throws him into the turnbuckle. The two brawled around for a while until Jeff Hardy got the upper hand. He goes for the Twist of Fate and nails it! Jeff climbs to the top and goes for the Swanton Bomb, but Bentley moves at the last second…

Bentley took control after Jeff missed the Swanton and took Jeff down with a quick Superkick! Bentley made the cover, but Jeff got his shoulder up! Bentley looked enraged as he began arguing with the referee. What the hell! Some snuck in from the audience and nailed Jeff Hardy with a Corkscrew 450 Splash! The man escaped as Bentley turned around, blind to what just happened, and pinned Jeff Hardy! 1…2…3! Matt Bentley def. Jeff Hardy.

Austin Aries…Man of Not So Many Words

Austin Aries is backstage with Shane Douglas. Douglas asks Aries what are his thoughts going into the match tonight. Aries tells Douglas that tonight, he is here for one thing and that is to become the #1 Contender to the X-Division Title. He says he respects Christopher Daniels and Sonjay Dutt, but this is above friendship. This is about making a lasting impact and tonight at Genesis, that’s exactly what he plans to do. He walks off as Douglas sends the camera back to the ring.

----

#1 Contender’s X-Division Match

Christopher Daniels –vs- Austin Aries –vs- Sonjay Dutt

This was easily the match of the night as all three men were on their A-Game. Aries and Dutt tried foiling Daniels who tried isolating his opponents, much to no avail. Dutt and Aries managed to throw Daniels to the outside, but then turned on one another as the two exchanged blows back and forth! Aries managed to block a kick from Dutt and whip him into the ropes. Dutt returned with a Satellite Armdrag, which got a quick two count. Daniels entered the fray once again and hit a DDT on Dutt, but Aries broke up the pin…

…The end of the match was intense as Daniels nailed The Angel’s Wings on Aries and went for the pin. Dutt nailed a Hindu Press to break up the pin at the last second which got the crowd heated up even more. Dutt picked up Daniels and went for a Sunset Flip, but Daniels reversed it and tried grabbing Dutt’s legs for the pin! Aries prevented this with a Dropkick to the face of Daniels! Daniels got up and went for the Angel’s Wings on Aries! Aries blocked and bent over backwards for the bridge! 1…2…3! Aries rolls to the outside as Daniels cannot believe it!

Aries celebrated as Sonjay Dutt walked up beside him and raised Aries’ hand in victory! Christopher Daniels could not believe what happened to him! Austin Aries def. Sonjay Dutt and Christopher Daniels.

Promotional Video for Turning Point

A video is shown promoting the next major event, which will be ‘Turning Point’ on December 11th!

Raven’s Rules Match

Raven –vs- Monty Brown

This was a good, hardcore match, which pleased the crowd. Raven came down to a good pop as he strolled down with his trademark-shopping cart, which was filled with various goodies including a rake. Brown wasted no time starting the match as he assaulted Raven as soon as the Lonely One slid into the ring. Brown dominated in the early goings, tossing Raven around the ring, yet avoiding using any weapons. Raven changed the tide for a short amount of time as picked up a nearby cooking pan and slammed it into Brown’s head! Brown stumbled backward before walking into a Drop Toe Hold onto a Steel Chair!

Raven held onto the match, throwing all his weapons at Brown and even cutting him open with a few chair shots to the head! Brown did not fall, however, as he withstood the chair shots before grabbing Raven and slamming him down onto the steel chair! Brown decided to finish off the match as he picked up Raven and nailed an Alpha Bomb onto an open chair! 1…2…No! Raven gets a shoulder up!

Brown looked around in disbelief before picking up Raven and whipping him into the turnbuckle. Raven stumbled out as Brown went for the Pounce! Raven fell down and avoided the move! Brown recovered and turned around into an Evenflow DDT onto the chair! 1…2…3! Raven def. Monty Brown.

----

Greatest X-Divison Champion In History

AJ Styles is walking backstage, taping his wrists, when Shane Douglas walks up to him. Douglas asks AJ what the chances are of him retaining his X-Division Championship. AJ tells Douglas that he will retain his title, because he is destined to be the greatest X-Division champion in the history of this business. He says that Williams might know his moves, but AJ knows his moves as well. Douglas thanks Styles and leaves as Styles continues walking towards the ring.

----

X-Divison Championship Match

AJ Styles© -vs- Petey Williams

Another possible MOTN contender, but did not live fully up to expectations. It appeared that Petey Williams suffered a minor sprain on his ankle earlier in the day, limiting his movement and abilities in the ring. The match still went off without any major setbacks, although there was a botched attempt at a plancha to the outside, when AJ Styles caught his foot in the rope and slammed his head into the apron. The actual match itself was fast-paced with both men countering each other’s moves and counters, including a slick Styles Clash counter into an odd looking Powerbomb from Petey Williams!

The end of the match came to a close as AJ Styles went for the Styles Clash, only to have Williams roll under and go for the Canadian Destroyer! He finished the spinning sequence, but Styles avoided the ground and picked up Williams for the Styles Clash! 1…2…3! It’s over! AJ Styles© def. Petey Williams.

----

Interview with a Rhino

Rhino is standing backstage with Shane Douglas who asks him about the NWA World Title. Rhino tells him that he might not be defending the title tonight, but he will guarantee one thing and that at Turning Point, he will be putting the title on the line. He says he doesn’t know whom he’ll be facing, but he knows it won’t be Jarrett. Douglas asks him how come it won’t be Jarrett and Rhino responds, “…because tonight he’s gonna feel the Gore!” before walking off.

----

No Disqualifications Match

Sabu –vs- Abyss

This was easily one of the bloodiest matches in TNA history as Sabu brought out the barbed wire at the beginning of the match…around his arms and hands! He scared off James Mitchell, which allowed Abyss to assault him from the back! Abyss attacked Sabu and whipped him into the ropes, but Sabu bounced back with a barbwire forearm to the face of the monster! Abyss stumbled backward as Sabu bounced off the ropes once again and hit a Cross body Clothesline, taking both of them over the top rope!

Abyss gained control from here as he picked up Sabu and threw him into the guardrail before producing a barbwire stick from beneath the ring! He cracked it across the back of Sabu, cutting open the most homicidal and genocidal man in wrestling!

Abyss soon finished off the match in his usual fashion after producing the thumbtacks and spreading them across the ring! He picked up a bloodied and beaten Sabu who tried fighting back and succeeded! Abyss dropped Sabu, who slid to the outside and grabbed some spare barbwire before tossing it into the ring! Abyss stumbled around as Sabu bounced off the top rope for a Springboard Clothesline, but Abyss caught him and spun around before hitting the Blackhole Slam into the thumbtacks and the barbwire! Abyss made the cover and Sabu could not kick out. Abyss def. Sabu.

----

America’s Most Wanted Walk Backstage

The camera shows America’s Most Wanted walking backstage when they pass Alex Shelley and Roderick Strong. Strong and Shelley just look at the tag team titles before going on their way. AMW look at each other and burst out laughing.

----

Team 3D and Rhino –vs- America’s Most Wanted and Jeff Jarrett

A great mainevent with the crowd 100% behind Team 3D and Rhino, cheering their every move and counter. The match consisted of Rhino wanting to get at Jarrett and Team 3D wanting to get at America’s Most Wanted, only to have the heels switch in and out to avoid conflict. All six men put in a good effort with all six of them having decent to good chemistry with one another, not botching a single move.

The middle of the match saw some slight controversy as Jeff Jarrett produced the famous guitar from his corner as America’s Most Wanted distracted the referee! He smashed it over Rhino’s head, but Rhino managed to get a shoulder up at the last millisecond, popping the crowd huge! This brought in Jarrett who began arguing with the referee! Team 3D turned him around and nailed a quick 3D! AMW tried interfering, but Team 3D took them both down with Clotheslines! Rhino set up in the corner and went for the Gore! Jarrett moves and the referee gets taken down!

Jarrett turns Rhino around and nails The Stroke! There is no referee, but he screams for another one who comes down from the back! 1…2…No! Team 3D drags Jarrett off and throw him to the outside! AMW slides back into the ring and receives a Gore and a 3D for their efforts! The crowd is going nuts as Team 3D and Rhino have taken over the place!

Team Canada comes down to the ring and sides with Jarrett and America’s Most Wanted! Both teams slide into the ring as the referee cannot control the action! Team 3D throw out Eric Young and Johnny Devine as Rhino nails a Gore on A1! Bobby Roode tries to attack Rhino from behind, but Rhino picks him up and tosses him over the top! Rhino turns around and receives another Stroke! 1…2…3! Jarrett steals a win from interference! He escapes up the ramp with America’s Most Wanted as Team 3D stare them down from inside the ring! Jeff Jarrett and America’s Most Wanted def. Rhino and Team 3D.

Raven drew Monty Brown after both men nailed each other with steel chairs in plain sight of the referee! The match was going well with some nice exchanges between the two men until Raven nailed the Raven Effect! He couldn’t make the cover, which angered him. He left to get a chair, but returned to feel The Pounce! Brown couldn’t get the pin either, prompting him to get a chair as well! He returned to the ring as both men swung the chair resulting in a Double DQ!

Larry Zybyszko appears atop the ramp and makes his way down to the ring looking determined. He announces that since there was no clear winner, both men will be entered in the Iron Maiden Match! America’s Most Wanted and Jeff Jarrett leave the scene laughing and slapping each other on the back.

Samoa Joe and Sonjay Dutt def. Christopher Daniels and Petey Williams after Joe choked out Williams with the Rear Naked Choke Hold. The match itself was excellent with Joe keeping up with the other men and even nailing an Enzugiri onto Daniels, who was perched on the top rope. There was nice action between Dutt and Williams as well, with Williams nailing the Canadian Destroyer after reversing a Dragonrana attempt from Dutt. The match ended however as Daniels managed to escape the Musclebuster, only to escape up the ramp before Joe could hit the move! He says that he’s been in these situations before and he knows what it takes to win.

Douglas asks them what their game plan is and Shelley tells him to leave.

Christopher Daniels, Austin Aries, and Petey Williams def. Sonjay Dutt, Samoa Joe, and AJ Styles after Christopher Daniels hit The Angel’s Wings on Dutt. Daniels turned around and nailed The Angel’s Wings on Dutt for the win!

He says that Jarrett is too egotistical and that’s his weakness. Rhino calls Abyss and Monty Brown nothing more than monsters that want nothing more than pain. He stops at Raven and shakes his head, walking off the scene.

Jeff Jarrett def. Sabu in a pretty good, although slow match. Towards the beginning of the match, Sabu brought in a chair, which scared Jarrett, sending him to the outside!
