FFVII Question/Help

So, I 'aquired' this for the PC recently, and realised it is the most awesome game of all time.

Problem is, it seems I neglected to pick up the Elemental Materia when I was in the Shinra building.

Is there anywhere else in the game to get it? Or am I going to need to start over?

I'm just in the Gold Saucer for the first time. And please, try to not spoil any plot for me, I've forgotten the majority of it, so it's still got me hooked for it....

I'd look elsewhere for help, but I'm lazy, and this is easier.

Is it do-able, to exist until then without the materia? 'Cause I really don't want to have to do all that again - although I'm pretty sure I've missed picking up a LOT of other stuff too.

Oh, and has anyone got a rough idea of what Levels I should be at now, so I know if I need to do some more levelling up or whatever?

Elemental materia is far from essential to advancing in the game. It's a useful thing to have in certain fights sure, but most of the time there's better options for getting through fights. Like Skumfrog said, you can get it in Nibelheim with Tifa and I'm sure you can get one in Mount Nibel a short walk later too.

Level wise, if you're just at the Gold Saucer you shouldn't need to be much more than about 20-25 or so. As long as you're roughly about there the next few places (Gongaga, Cosmo Canyon, Nibelheim) won't pose too many problems. Just make sure Barret is nearer to level 25 or so thanks to his one on one fight in Corel Prison. The only other fight you'll need to beef up for is the (optional) Lost Number fight in the Shin-Ra Mansion, as that can be a huge bitch if you're not prepared for it.

To be honest I don't ever remember using the Elemental Materia at all realy and I bet I've beaten it now on computer about a dozen times (my copy's legal though, and old realy old). You should be fine without it.
