Don't feel bad Starr, I thought he was referring to Calvin Johnson at first myself.

By the way, if the Lions draft anybody other than Joe Thomas, I'll vomit diarrhea out of my nose. I hear we're considering Gaines Adams, but for the love of god, don't draft him. He may turn out good, but I hear he's undersized, and we don't need another potential "situational pass rusher" ala Kalimba "20 Million for 2 sacks a year" Edwards.

At 6'5 265, I don't see Gaines being made into a linebacker. More than likely, he'll bulk up, add ten or fifteen pounds, and play on the end. Though he reminds me more of Willie Mcginest than anyone, so I'd like to see him drop to 255 and rotate between the end and linebacker spot.

Yeah I heard depending on where he goes Adams may play some linebacker and then on passing downs line up as a DE similar to what Kamerion Wimbley did last year with the Browns and I can tell you that Wimbley was really able to play well as that combo last year so it is a possibility that Adams may do the same thing.

Vomit diarrhoea out of your nose? Have you been watching the Angry Nintendo Nerd?

Possibly. But it's a normal reaction for a Detroit Lions fan of the Millen era to have. And they do call me VerbalPuke for a reason.

Jamal Lewis cut? Interesting, I wouldn't mind seeing the Lions make a pitch for him. Of course he'll probably sign with some team that has a real opportunity of making a run somewhere.

Bly to the Broncos for Bell and Foster.

Great move for the Lions, picking up Tatum Bell (who is a playmaker, even though he's got fumblitis) and Foster (A very good tackle). Both players were in Shanny's doghouse and once you're there, you stay there (See O'neal, Deltha).

For the Broncos, Bly could start depending on whether or not Foxworth beats him out. Makes for an interesting battle and a great nickel package.

So that really happened? Fucking aye, that's a beautiful thing. That covers two glaring holes for the Lions and gives us some much needed flexibility. Denver overpaid for Bly in my opinion. Though, now that he's working next to a real CB, his free lancing skills may help Denver. It was just clear that Bly no longer fit on our team and became a bit of a shell since the first few seasons in Detroit. I had only thought this trade was a rumor. Nice.

And I wasn't aware that Lewis was cut to make his contract more friendly. Not that it matters now.

He's an offensive tackle which was a glaring weakness for the Lions. Surprisingly, we're going to be very good at DT if we keep Redding in the middle.

By the way, the Lions also got a 5th rounder for Bly on top of Foster and Bell.

The Detroit Lions have agreed to send cornerback Dre' Bly to the Denver Broncos in exchange for running back Tatum Bell, tackle George Foster and a draft choice, believed to be a fifth-round pick.

Trades cannot become official until Friday, the first day of the league year.

Bly, a two-time Pro Bowl performer who earned a Super Bowl ring as a member of the 1999 St. Louis Rams, did not fit well in the Tampa 2 defensive scheme employed by second-year head coach Rod Marinelli and new defensive coordinator Joe Barry. Thus the Lions granted Bly and his agent, Kennard McGuire, permission to seek a trade two weeks ago.

The New Orleans Saints, New York Giants and Washington Redskins also were in the running for the 29-year-old Bly.

Neither Bly nor McGuire was available for comment.

In Denver, Bly will join Champ Bailey in forming one of the game's top cornerback tandems. The Broncos needed a replacement for Darrent Williams, who was killed in a drive-by shooting after a New Year's Eve party in Denver.

Bly is considered one of the game's best big-play cornerbacks. In eight seasons he has intercepted 31 passes, forced 17 fumbles, and scored eight touchdowns (five interception returns, two fumble returns, one punt return). Last season Bly tied for the team lead with three interceptions and led the Lions with 18 passes defended and four forced fumbles.

Bly has one year remaining on the $22 million free-agent contract he signed in 2003 and the Broncos are expected to begin working on a long-term agreement with McGuire.

Bell, 25, became a starter for the first time last season, his third, and led the Broncos with 1,025 rushing yards. In three seasons with the Broncos he has rushed for 2,342 yards and 13 touchdowns and owns a career yards-per-carry average of 4.9. The speedy Bell provides depth and insurance for the Lions in the event top back Kevin Jones' foot injury keeps him sidelined into next season.

Foster started 45 out of a possible 48 games the past three seasons at right tackle. The Lions were last in the league in rushing and allowed the second-most sacks (63) last season, so improving the offensive line is one of the team's top offseason priorities.

I appreciate that Bly was committed to winning and seemingly stuck with us through thick and thin. It's just time for him to go. He can be a very exciting player to watch, but don't expect a shut down corner, he's a play maker, but should compliment a guy like Champ Bailey well.

Why would you need Bell? Jones is a very capable back.

Many critcs are saying that Lewis doens't have it anymore, but to his defense, he hand bone spurs in his ankle last year and I don't know if any of you have ever had bone spurs, but they hurt like a bitch and he played the entire season wtih them.

Jones CAN be a very capable back, but he's coming off a surgery that may keep him out for half the year or more. Even if he does play, he spends at least 3-4 games every season injured. If they can teach Bell to hold onto the ball, they might have a good backup.

edit- Of course this means that the Lions kind of need a CB, unless I'm missing something here, they not only have a lack of depth at corner, but a lack of talent as well :P

Even with Jones being a capable back, it seems as if most teams in the NFL are switching to using two backs. Jase pretty much nailed it with Jones being hurt every year as it is. Not to mention our back up and back up back up both had season ending injuries last year.

We would have needed a CB with or without Dre Bly, so I'm not concerned in the sense that we gave away our only CB. We got good value for a guy that was going to be gone one or another.

This is shaping up to be a pretty good FA period and also a pretty good draft, I just hope that the Browns are able to come away with some OL and DL and with hopefully getting Peterson they should be looking better next season. In no way am I saying they will be competing for the playoffs but they should move closer to .500 rather then farther away from it.

I got a massive gut feeling that Jamal Lewis could end up in Denver. He needs a career jumpstart and the Broncos have been playing the RB carousel for a while. So I think Denver would be a good fit for Lewis.

I do think the Pack will get Moss in one way or another, but there's still that chance Oakland could ask for a little too much. But in my mind, the Pack would be better going out and picking up Horn(He already got released I believe) or Stallworth(Released I think as well).

I would love to see Porter go out for the Colts to help with the Defense, but they don't have the money for it, even if Peyton took a paycut. He could end up in Arizona, they got the money and he'll fore sure be a starter.
