Impact Wrestling
January 2016 - Week One
Bethlehem Pennsylvania

Live for the first time on POP TV, TNA Impact emanated from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania where Josh Mathews and “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero stood at ringside, (quite the upgrade from that cramped closet they’ve been shoved in on previous Impact broadcasts) both dressed to the nines in pricey suits. Mathews welcomed everyone to the special hour and a half debut episode of Impact Wrestling, hammering the new tagline of, "What real fans watch." Mathews stated that tonight The Knockouts would be in action as The Beautiful People take on The Doll House and the much anticipated culmination of the World Title Series happens as a new TNA World Heavyweight Champion will be crowned. “And it all starts now, daddy" yelled The Pope as Bobby Lashley’s music hit and “The Destroyer” made his way to the ring.

World Title Tournament Semi-Finals Match: "The Destroyer" Bobby Lashley versus Ethan Carter III w/ Tyrus

As the former TNA World Champion headed to the ring, embracing hands with the fans, Dinero put over Lashley’s intimidating physical presence and his favorable mixed martial arts record, asking Josh “how great would it be for Lashley to walk out in his next fight with that TNA World Heavyweight Championship over his shoulder, daddy?” As Lashley tested the ropes inside the ring, it was time for his opponent to make his entrance.

Ethan Carter III and Tryus

As Ethan Carter III and Tyrus made their entrance in the arena, a picture in picture promo pushed into view, showing EC3 and his right hand man standing against the Impact Wrestling logo. Carter stated that fans were up in arms when he threatened legal action against Matt Hardy and Impact Wrestling with his legal injunction - but the fact was that they should be thanking him! After all, it was his actions that had lead way to the TNA World Title Series. But that’s not all. They should be thanking him, because after tonight - Impact Wrestling would once again have the champion they need - and his name is Ethan Carter III.

Despite Carter’s claims that his path to championship glory once again was a sure thing, Lashley looked quickly dispel such thinking as “The Dominator” did just that and man handled the arrogant “One Percenter.” With the end seemingly near as Lashley scooped him up for a running powerslam, EC3 delivered a few well placed elbows to the former champion’s face and then raked Lashley’s eyes on the way down. A TKO from Carter looked to steal the bout, but Lashley powered out after two. Frustrated, EC3’s demeanor became more and more erratic as he looked to put his larger opponent down for the count, and with that approach he left himself open for Lashley to nearly decapitate Carter as he bounced out of the corner - EC3 on the wrong side of a Bobby Lashley telegraph. The big man then looked to punish Carter even further as he military pressed him over his head, but Tyrus proved his worth as he tripped up Lashley. Ethan Carter landed on top of his opponent in pinning position, while Tyrus kept hold of Lashley’s foot - forcing him unable to kick out for the three count. (60%)

Winner: Ethan Carter III

With Lashley in disbelief and pleading his case to the referee, EC3 and Tyrus celebrated on the entrance way as Josh Mathews and The Pope reminded everyone that in a short amount of time, one of the most successful and legendary careers in all of professional wrestling would be coming to an end as Kurt Angle hangs up his boots for the final time - it’s Kurt Angle’s Farewell Tour.

Kurt Angle

In a pre-taped promo, Kurt Angle was shown standing against the new Impact Wrestling on POP logo. The former multi time World Champion put over his long career, saying he’s wrestled in some of the greatest places on earth against many legendary opponents - the likes of The Undertaker, The Rock, Chris Jericho, Sting, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and many more. And while it’s true, he’s set to retire - he’s going to go out the only way he knows how: by putting on some of the best matches in his career. Angle says that when he looks around the Impact Wrestling locker room he sees a lot of young and hungry guys ready to step up. Guys like Eddie Edwards, Davey Richards, and others show a lot of promise. But, Angle says there is one guy in his mind that is set to lead Impact into the future, and that’s none other than Drew Galloway. So next week, the former Olympic Champion announces, the Kurt Angle farewell tour kicks off with Kurt Angle vs. Drew Galloway right here on POP TV. (49%)

Before commercial break, a shot in the crowd shows Smashing Pumpkins lead man, and Impact Wrestling executive Billy Corgan watching the show at ringside as Mathews and Pope put over that "all of the biggest stars in entertainment are no doubt watching Impact Wrestling right here on POP TV!"

Britani Tyler and Matt Hardy

In the ring, the former Devin Taylor of NXT fame, now going by the name Britani Tyler stood in the ring and announced her special guest for the evening, Matt Hardy. After posing for the fans, Matt stepped into the ring and Britani asked him for his thoughts on his upcoming match with Eric Young and how it felt to be so close to once again holding the Impact Wrestling World Championship. Hardy said that he was feeling great, and that he was on a roll in the World Title Series as he hasn’t lost a match since the start. He put over the fact that he did what he felt might not have been the best for himself, but was no doubt the best for everyone watching at home and Impact Wrestling when he vacated the championship to prevent it from being held up in a legal mess at the threat of EC3. And now that he was so close to once again living his dream of becoming World Champion - nothing was going to stop him from that goal. Matt claimed he has something EC3 will never have, and that’s morals. Hardy then said he wasn’t one to take shortcuts, he was going to win the title the right way - - (34%)

However, before Matt could finish, Eric Young slid into the ring and completely blindsided him from behind, his maniacal demeanor enough to send Britani fleeing from the ring. Hardy attempted to fight off, but Young’s aggression got the best of the Cameron, North Carolina native as EY dumped Matt to the outside and sent him head first into the steel ring steps. Josh Mathews condemned Young’s actions as Impact went to commercial break with officials running out to help Hardy. (33%)

World Title Tournament Semi-Finals Match: Matt Hardy versus Eric Young

Back from commercial break, the scene was chaotic as officials both checked on Hardy; who was now in the ring standing on his own accord, and tried to keep Eric Young at bay. Josh Mathews pondered that Eric Young's intentions very well could have been to take Hardy out so that he couldn't compete here tonight, and give Eric an easy route to the finals of the World Title Series.

Eric Young

As Hardy regained his composure, a picture in picture promo appeared with Eric young standing against the Impact Wrestling logo. “EY” boasted that he’s not only a former World Champion, he’s held every title there is in Impact Wrestling! Oh, and he just happens to be the most ruthless man in the company. “So if you think you’re getting past me tonight Matt, I guess you’ve got another thing coming! Ha haha ha!” (47%)

Back in the ring, Hardy has finally waved off officials, before leaping into Young with a hard right hand. One official stayed back and called for the bell, officially starting the semi-final bout. Pretty much a back and forth brawl to start, Eric Young eventually gained the upper hand with a low boot to the groin as Hardy charge him in the corner. From there, Eric dominated Hardy with a series of suplexes and back breaker variations. Hardy though, live up to his “Will Not Die” moniker and kicked out of each pin attempt by the crazy-eyed former World Champion. With Young pulling on his beard and asking what he had to do to keep Hardy down, he climbed to the top rope and leaped off - inadvertently leading to his own downfall as Matt jumped up and nailed Young with a mid air Twist of Fate! The three count was academic after that. (50%)

Winner: Matt Hardy

With the stage now set for tonight’s championship main event pitting Matt Hardy against EC3, Impact Wrestling went to break with Hardy posing in the corner. After a few words from the sponsors, Impact Wrestling returned with The Doll House, Marti Bell, Jade and Rebel in the ring. Soon later, The Beautiful People, Velvet Sky and Madison Rayne came out from the back. Seeing the clear three on two advantage, The Doll House were all smiles - but those smiles were quickly distinguished when Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion Gail Kim joined Madison and Velvet to even the odds.

With the numbers even, the fan favorites rushed the ring and took it straight to their less tenured opponents.

I love the Lashley sig, again except for the diagonal lines. I'd prefer the border to be just a basic 1px one but the rest of it is awesome.

I don't like the Orton one, the background is too messy and gritty for my liking. The logo's not bad, I'd perhaps have cut Orton's body off a bit sooner, or faded it away.
