Todays Main Event theme was Bull Powers/TanaMura Versus Bull Powers/TanaMura match, and it was a titanic battle, lasting well ovr twenty minutes, all four men gave it their all, with no clear advantage to either one of them. Tanahashi was able to use his superior speed and agility to run and gun his opponents, Kojima used his power and lariats, Nakamura used his strikes and suplexes and Nakanishi used his matwork against their opposition. The match was warmly recieved by the crowd, and the same will be expected tomorrow when partners swap and we get the full Bull Powers versus TanaMura face-off. Nakanishi and Kojima started off, renewing their power fight from the G1 tournament, where Nakanishi was victorious. Nakanishi was able to take control for a moment with a German Suplex, but Kojima was able to tag out to Tanahashi, who flew at the challenger for his IWGP title, Nakanishi having no answer to Tanahashi's high flying offence. That then brought Nakamura in, bringing about the generation rivals first confrontation since Nakamura's return, Tanahashi extended his hand to his old partner and the two shook hands as a sign of respect, then they began fighting, Nakamura gaining the upper hand and forcing Tanahashi down with brutal kicks and chops, Nakamura then dropped Tanahashi with a Dragon Suplex Hold for a nearfall and loud 'Tanahashi!' calls rang out. This bouyed Tanahashi on, who made his comeback, the champion now having a clear speed advantage since Nakamura's weight gain. The match was even from their on in with neither team getting an upper hand, till Nakanishi stepped into the ring and tackled Kojima, then took it to Tanahashi on the outside, leaving Kojima easy picking for Nakamura to once again demonstrate his high flying finisher, the 'Springsteen' for a hard fought victory. All four men said they are looking forward to tomorrow's match, to decide which generation's premier tag team is the greatest.

Milano again faced one of the 'pillars' of the Junior division today in openweight tag competition, but was unable to avoid defeat, Akebono crushing him with the 64. It was Milano's second confrontation with Tiger Mask recently, having facing and losing to him in WRESTLELAND. The match was fairly split in two with the two juniors going at it, Tiger Mask gaining a slight advantage, and the two heavyweights clashing, though the wily Chono using all his ring experience to stay one step ahead of the giant sumo, freely breaking the rules as he went, however, he was unable to help Milano avoid being squashed by Akebono, Tiger Mask hitting him with the 619 around the corner post as he attempted to enter the ring to break the fall.

Choshu continued his war with Bernard and Tomko today, but also dragging his problems with Chono in aswell, adding Tenzan to the mix. Maybe BR and Bernard and Tomko have found a common enemy, so an alliance may still be on the cards. It proved to be a costly mistake to Choshu, as for the second show running, he was forced to tap out by a BR member, this time falling to Tenzan's Anaconda Vice. This defeat went against the run of the match, which by in large was dominated by Yano and Ishii's fluid teamwork, the duo looking to have put their upset loss to Koshinaka and Choshu behind them as they prepare to face ChoTen in little over a weeks time.

Yujiro's trial series entered chapter five today, the Young Lion phase as he faced his former dojo mate, Naofumi Yamamoto, unfortunately for Yujiro, Yamamoto's experience amongst the heavyweights and Nagata's intensive training was evident for all to see. With Nagata watching from ringside, it appeared Nagata's pre-breakfast training paid dividends as Yamamoto gave an assured performance and was rarely in trouble, though, once again, Yujiro showed immense fire by refusing to stay down for the three count, twice kicking out of Yamamoto's Backdrop Suplex Hold, much to Yamamoto's display as Nagata stared a hole through him from outside. Yamamoto then hit Yujiro with a flurry of offence, a German Suplex, neckbreaker, powerbomb, and finally a third Backdrop Suplex Hold, to which Yujiro had no answer. After the bell rung, Yamamoto helped Yujiro to his feet and Nagata entered the ring upon seeing this, clipping Yamamoto round the ear and then giving words of encouragement to Yujiro. Yamamoto then left the ring and asked an audience member if he could have their ramen, as he was hungry, much to Nagata's disdain.

Koji Kanemoto and Minoru clashed early on on the card, as both men looked to gain a last minute advantage ahead of tomorrow IWGP Junior Heavyweight title clash, it was Kanemoto who will be carrying the momentum into the match, as he submitted Minoru's CTU partner, Black Tiger to an Ankle Hold. Kanemoto and Minoru spent much of the match on the outside, obviously wanting to conserve energy and not risk injury before tomorrow. Wataru was in good form today, dominating the former IWGP and NWA Junior double-champion for much of the match, and could have won it himself, had it not being for Minoru breaking the falls and the interference from Jado and Gedo, seconding their CTU counterparts for the match. As the bell rung, Minoru, Jado and Gedo all jumped Kanemoto, stomping him to the mat, but the attack was quickly cut off by Wataru heroically coming to his partners aid and the quick action by the ring boys, escorting the CTU trio to the back before any lasting damage could be inflicted.

In the opener, Devitt once again demonstrated his dominance over the young lions, gaining his seventh straight submission victory, making Naito tap to a Half Crab, surely it is only a matter of time before he is promoted into the Junior division.

1. Takashi Uwano and Prince Devitt defeated Mitsuhide Hirasawa and Tetsuya Naito (8:42) when Devitt defeated Naito with a Half Crab Hold.

2. Koji Kanemoto and Wataru Inoue defeated Minoru and Black Tiger (12:32) when Kanemoto defeated Black Tiger with an Ankle Hold.

3. Yujiro Seven Match Trial Series #5 - Naofumi Yamamoto defeated Yujiro (12:34) with a Backdrop Suplex Hold.

4. Giant Bernard, Travis Tomko and Hiroyoshi Tenzan defeated Riki Choshu, Toru Yano and Tomohiro Ishii (11:22) when Tenzan defeated Choshu with an Anaconda Vice.

5. Akebono and Tiger Mask defeated Masahiro Chono and Milano Collection AT (12:38) when Akebono defeated Milano with the 64.

6. Shinsuke Nakamura and Manabu Nakanishi defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi and Satoshi Kojima (23:53) when Nakamura defeated Kojima with the Springsteen.

The long awaited battle between the two current standouts of the Junior division took place today as IWGP champion Koji Kanemoto defended his title against CTU's 'Black Prince' Minoru. Both men entered the ring without seconds, signifying both men wanted to win this match alone, especially Minoru, who could have called on the resources of CTU if needed. It was an intensely paced match lasting over half an hour. The two put on an exceptional contest, one of New Japan's best matches of the year so far, the two trading strikes, submissions, suplexes and aerial attacks, both mens desire and will to win transferred to the crowd, who were red hot by the finish, with duelling 'Aniki' and 'Minoru' calls throughout the arena.

The match started on the mat, as both men used solid counter wrestling against each other, neither man gaining a clear advantage, both men then reset back to their feet. Kanemoto provoking Minoru into a striking battle, where he was able to take control. Kanemoto tried to finish the match early, hitting the Falcon Arrow, which has served him well recently, but not today as Minoru kicked out at 1! This seemed to bouy Minoru, who fought his way back into the match, forcing Kanemoto to the outside and nailing the champion with a Suicide Plancha to the arena floor. Minoru then pulled Kanemoto back into the ring and levelled him with a fearsome right kick directly to Koji's face. Minoru then appealed to the crowd, let out a primeval roar and went to the top for a moonsault...

but found nothing but canvas as Kanemoto rolled away. Kanemoto then seized on the switch in momentum by striking Minoru repeatedly to the canvas and into the ropes, where he began choking Minoru with his boot, Kanemoto returning to his arrogant punk roots and refusing to acknowledge the referee's count. This received loud boos from the crowd, turning their favour towards the challenger.

The match then increased in pace, with both men breaking out their high flying arsenals, Kanemoto especially, punishing Minoru with a beatifully executed Avalanche Butterfly Suplex for an extremely near fall. Kanemoto then went for a Tiger Suplex Hold, the move that won him his first IWGP Junior title, over a decade ago, but again Minoru showed his resiliance, kicking out of what the crowd thought was a sure pinfall. Kanemoto then perched Minoru on the top turnbuckle and went for what appeared to be an Avanlanche Frankensteiner, but the crafty Minoru held onto the ropes, sending Kanemoto crashing to the mat. Minoru then hopped off the turnbuckle and stalked Kanemoto, looking to deliver a finishing right kick...

that Kanemoto caught and turned it into an Ankle Hold, however, Minoru fought through the pain and rolled through the Hold, catching Kanemoto's arm and locking in the Minoru Special! Minoru then transistioned into a Ankle Hold of his own, attempting to defeat Kanemoto with his own move. Kanemoto had this well scouted though, and did unto Minoru what he had done to him, reversing the Ankle Hold into his own Minoru Special, throwing the insult back in the CTU ace's face. Kanemoto himself, then quickly switched to the Ankle Hold and grapevined Minoru's leg with his own. Minoru fought the pain for nearly a minute, but realising he had no where to go, tapped out! giving Kanemoto a extremely hard fought V1 defence. After the match, Kanemoto offered his hand to Minoru, who took it! echoing their 3/28/04 match, when Tanaka, as HEAT, finally beat Kanemoto for the first time.

In the semi main event, two estranged teams reformed, currently, for one night only as two former IWGP Tag Team championship winning teams, the Bull Powers (Manabu Nakanishi and Satoshi Kojima) took on Hiroshi Tanahashi and Shinsuke Nakamura, in what was also a generation battle between two of the 'golden' teams of their respective generations. It was the 'veteran' team that took the honours tonight though, as Nakanishi and Kojima rolled back the years, showing that despite not tagging in nearly a decade, neither man had lost the understanding of the other. Nakanishi and Kojima used their superior understanding to isolate Tanahashi and punish him accordingly, something I'm sure Nakanishi will be happy about, less than a week before his IWGP title challenge. Tanahashi was eventally able to tag out, ducking a Kojima lariat attempt. Nakamura then took control of Kojima, battering the All Japan star. It was not to be though, as shortly after tagging Tanahashi back in, Kojima found a second wind and surprised Tanahashi as he went for the Sling Blade with an absolutely thunderous lariat, that even had the crowd wincing in pain, then pinning the IWGP champion for the victory! putting Kojima right in contention for a future IWGP shot, if he remains with the company.

Choshu finally got some revenge on Giant Bernard and Travis Tomko, after two sucessive submission losses and being beaten with his own move by Bernard, Choshu called on current New Japan ace, Nagata, in his war with the gaijin. It was Nagata who made all the difference, as he was on fire today and was rarely troubled, eventually spiking Tomko with his Thunder Death Driver for an academic pinfall.

Yano and Ishii continued to build momentum towards their IWGP Tag Team title shot, defeating Chono loyalists, Tenzan and Milano in a furiously paced match. In the end, once again, Milano found the heavyweight division tough going, as Yano dropped him with the Oni Koroshi. It could have been much worse for Milano, as Yano and Ishii had him set up for the Y2k6, but Tenzan knocked Ishii off the tope turnbuckle. That didn't faze Yano, who delivered the Oni Koroshi powerbomb anyway for the win.

Yujiro's trial series is going from bad to worse as today he was simply overwhelmed and crushed by the former Yokozuna, Akebono, going down in seventy-three seconds, Bono swamping Yujiro with a huge vertical splash, Yujiro barely visible under the giant. Yujiro attacked at the bell, knowing he was up against it, but his attacks made no impression on Bono, who simply threw him back across the ring, and from thereon in, it was all Akebono.

1. Mitsuhide Hirasawa defeated Tetsuya Naito (5:38) with a Dropkick.

2. Yujiro Seven Match Trial Series #6 - Akebono defeated Yujiro (1:13) with a Splash.

3. Toru Yano and Tomohiro Ishii defeated Hiroyoshi Tenzan and Milano Collection AT (12:03) when Yano defeated Milano with an Oni Koroshi.

4. Riki Choshu and Yuji Nagata defeated Giant Bernard and Travis Tomko (8:36) when Nagata defeated Tomko with a Thunder Death Driver.

5. Manabu Nakanishi and Satoshi Kojima defeated Shinsuke Nakamura and Hiroshi Tanahashi (19:46) when Kojima defeated Tanahashi with a Lariat.

6. IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title - Koji Kanemoto © defeated Minoru (34:14) with an Ankle Hold (1st defence).

KOJI KANEMOTO (fifth reign as IWGP Jr. Heavyweight champion - 5/3/06 to present - 1 defence)

- (5/3/06 @ Fukuoka International Center) Koji Kanemoto beat Tiger Mask (19:27) with a Falcon Arrow to become the 50th champion.

1 (9/18/06 @ Sagamihara City Gymnasium) Koji Kanemoto defeated Minoru (34:14) with an Ankle Hold (1st defence).

Attendance 2400 Super No Vacancy

The final stop before Osaka took place today and the six men participating in the two headlining title matches were in six man tag action, with a challenger/champions versus challengers/champion theme, and it was the challenger for the IWGP Heavyweight title, Manabu Nakanishi who got the final word, pinning Tomohiro Ishii, but sending a message to Tanahashi in the process, using Brock Lesnar's Verdict finisher to pick up the win. If you remember, Nakanishi is so confident of victory he has temporarily sealed his three signature finishers, the Argentine Backbreaker, the Hercules Cutter and the Mana Bauer. It was a match controlled by the senior generation, as Nakanishi's and ChoTen's experience and former partnerships. They were able to isolate their opponent, usually Ishii for long streches of the match and keep themselves fresh, there was a brief comeback when Tanahashi and Yano interjected, showing great fire against their foes, but Chono's heel tactics allowed his team to regain control of the match, which they then never lost.

Akebono and Kojima teamed again today in a direct rematch from 9/15, again facing teacher-pupil team, Nagata and Yamamoto, with the exact same results, Kojima again proving too much for the young Yamamoto, beating him decisively with a Lariat, maybe giving Akebono the upper hand in the lead-in to his clash with Nagata. Post Match, Nagata again chastised Yamamoto, telling him he that this tour is lost, and with the G2 U30 Climax, on the next tour, he expects Yamamoto to be nothing less than victorious, or face expulsion from the Nagata LOCK office already!

Yujiro's seven match trial series came to an end, the Young Lion enduring a torrid time, losing all seven matches decisively, including todays against the legendary Riki Choshi, tapping to the Scorpion Deathlock. Yujiro, did however, push Choshu all the way, absorbing tremendous amounts of punishment, Yujiro's willingness to come back from a beating has greatly increased his popularity with the crowd and there were 'Yujiro' calls today as they willed him to fight back. Choshu himself was suitably impressed and told Yujiro to go the tailors and to get that new haircut, because he has just sucessfully graduated from Young Lionhood! this reduced Yujiro to tears in the ring and he attempted to thank the fans but was too overcome with emotion to get his words out.

What looked to be a quiet night for the juniors erupted into all out war between the regular army and CTU, both Junior six man matches breaking down into fierce brawls after the bell, the two armies shared the spoils going 1-1 on the night, so the Junior war shows no signs of abating.

Prince Devitt absolutely sublime form continued again today, Devitt showing his wide range of submissions, submitting a former IWGP and NWA Junior champion in Black Tiger with a Fujiwara armbar. After the match, Devitt called for either a continuation of his team with Tiger Mask and a IWGP Junior Tag Team title shot, or a shot against Tiger for his NWA Junior Heavyweight title. Tiger Mask was graciously open to either idea and said he looked forward to meeting Devitt in the ring on the next tour, be it as partner or opponent.

1. Tiger Mask and Prince Devitt defeated Black Tiger and Takashi Uwano (11:00) when Devitt defeated Black Tiger with a Fujiwara Armbar.

2. Jushin Thunder Liger and Gedo defeated Koji Kanemoto and Ryusuke Taguchi (12:13) when Liger defeated Taguchi with a CTB.

3. Minoru and Jado defeated Wataru Inoue and El Samurai (11:45) when Minoru defeated Samurai with the California Maki.

4. Yujiro Seven Match Trial Series #7 - Riki Choshu defeated Yujiro in (8:47) with a Scorpion Deathlock.

5. Akebono and Satoshi Kojima defeated Yugi Nagata and Naofumi Yamamoto (15:51) when Kojima defeated Yamamoto with a Lariat.

6. Manabu Nakanishi, Masahiro Chono and Hiroyoshi Tenzan defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi, Toru Yano and Tomohiro Ishii (14:50) when Nakanishi defeated Ishii with the Verdict.

I'm happy to see another puroresu diary that has more than one or two pages, and looks to go even further. I'm a fan of NJPW, so thats good too. I'll give you my thoughts on your diary so far, for what they're worth.

Intially, I didn't like Yamamoto going over Nagata, even if it was a fluke win and Nagata did wind up in the finals. I think that Yamamoto has been pushed too hard as it is by NJPW, and putting him over someone like Nagata, who I see as being one of the strongest New Japan fighters, is just a bit much for me. Although, I did like seeing Nagata going over Tenzan. Besides that, I enjoyed how strong Nakanishi was throughout the G1, and I would have loved to have seen a Nagata/Nakanishi final.

I don't think much of Nakamura's move names, but these things happen. I suppose that they aren't really unrealistic.

I don't like this business of the third match in the card sometimes being longer than the main event of the evening. Its nice to promote the junior matches by giving them such a length, but I think a better idea would be to initially indicate their worth by having the matches at a good length higher up the card; amongst big heavyweight bouts.

I don't like Kojima returning either, but that's probably becuase I just don't like Kojima at all. Nor do I like to see him go over your champ, even if it is Tanahashi. I probably would have rather seen Nakamura or Tanahashi going over Kojima, or Nakanishi going over Tanahashi. That to me, could heat things up for their title match, where I'd also like to see Nakanishi going over; whereas a loss to an outsider like Kojima just made him look weak to me.

I love that you're bringing back the WMG Heavyweight Title, and I want it to be Choshu's. That guy has so much energy and intensity left in him, that he often shames younger wrestlers.

Beyond that, I really like the layout, its simple and effective. I do think though, that some more photos and maybe some coloured writing (maybe red titles?) could help brighten things up a little.

I hope this is helpful to you; we need more strong puro diary writers!

I am feeling a lack of build to big matches. Your tour shows are very interesting though, and your rebuilding tag team wrestling well (which is what NJPW are currently trying to do). I'll always be here reading ;)

And just for those people who even glanced over my DDT Diary. I stopped doing it for important reasons. I can say no more, but it will all be revealed in a couple of months... I think...

;)

And expect an awesome update, with heaps of indy promotions in my Moeru Toukon 07 stat update!

Tanahashi gives thoughts on Nakanishi, Nakamura, Nicknames and more

IWGP champion Hiroshi Tanahashi today called a press conference at the New Japan offices today, just days away from his V1 defence of his title. Tanahashi praised his opponent on Sunday, Nakanishi, called him a 'global level power fighter' but Tanahashi's superior speed, agility and intelligence, along with Nakanishi's overconfidence will see Tanahashi through. Tanahashi also mentioned that he was thinking of upgrading the Sling Blade, as he feels the move lacks the impact of a champion, but would not scrap it entirely as it has served him well, referencing that the move actually won him the IWGp title in the first place, but he as has being working on various modifications to it in the New Japan Dojo.

Tanahashi also made mention of the continuation of his 'Sunday Hiroshi' winning streak, which he gained by defeating Nakamura, Yamamoto and Nagata on consectutive Sunday's back in February. Tanahashi said that Sunday's is his favourite day and he was fully confident of continuing his good form on in big matches held on that particular day, joking that he hopes all his IWGP defences are held on a Sunday.Tanahashi also then spoke about reviving another of his old nicknames, 'the child of the sun', accept for he no longer feels that this is valid, and after Sunday, will be looking to change it 'the champion of the sun'

Hiroshi then was asked about whether he was open to the idea of recieving a challenge from generation rival Shinsuke Nakamura, despite Nakamura seemingly distancing himself from any talk of a IWGP title match. Tanahashi said he would be open to receiving any challenges from anyone deemed worthy enough by the New Japan directors. Tanahashi said he would especially look forward to facing Nakamura, dismissing him as just another 'power fighter' now, and his disadvantage in strength no longer holds fear for him, and that also he would not feel a 'complete champion' till he has beaten all of New Japan's top heavyweights, starting with Nakanishi on Sunday.

Tanahashi then went on to say that he will hitting the dojo hard in preparation for the explosion tour and will be looking to work on his submissions and matwork, as he feels this is an area he needs to work on to continue his reign as IWGP champion, Tanahashi then mentioned his record 11 defences of the IWGP u-30 title and Nagata's record of 10 defences as IWGP champion, saying he is looking to break both these records, as any champion should. Is Tanahashi becoming a little overconfident?

Akebono's special 'Nagata' diet / Looks to IWGP

There was a article in today's Nikkan Sports featuring Akebono ahead of his match with Yugi Nagata, Akebono mentioned how it was such an honour to face a competitor like Nagata, but would not be showing him any respect once they are in the ring. Akebono stated that he has been bulking up! for Nagata, his weight now surpassing 450lbs, as to negate Nagata's suplex based offence. Akebono was confident of victory and said he would be looking to challenge for IWGP heavyweight gold again after Sunday, as he looks to fully erase the memory of his quick loss to Brock Lesnar in March 2006.

Nakanishi interview highlights - Tanahashi, RWC versus ChoTen, Kojima for IWGP?

Nakanishi today visited a school in Osaka as part of his promotional duties for the show on Sunday. Nakanishi demonstrated his Amaresu training to the school wrestling club and threatened to give the wrestling coach the Mana Bauer, much to the delight of the children, when the coach chastised Nakanishi's technique.

Nakanishi appeared in a relaxed, jovial mood ahead of the IWGP challenge and fielded some questions from the youngsters and from the gathered press ranks. One youngster asked him what would happen to Real Wild Child if Nakanishi won the IWGP title, Nakanishi replied that he and Omori would continue their team and would then look to unifying the two IWGP Tag Team titles in a match against whoever won on Sunday, Nakanishi mentioning that since their two tag title wins (IWGP Provisional and NWA Intercontinental) he has developed a taste for gold, a taste that can only be satisfied with IWGP Heavyweight gold.

One of the journalists then seized on this, asking Manabu's prediction for the IWGP tag match on Sunday, Nakanishi, predictably sided with former mentor Chono, saying that Chono and Tenzan simply have too much experience and fire power for the young Yano and Ishii, but thought that the young team have progressed quickly and will give ChoTen a tough fight.

Nakanishi then changed the subject back to his title challenge, stating that he is sure of complete victory, as Tanahashi has not shown anything on this tour that worries him, especially since old friend Kojima pinned Tanahashi cleanly on 9/18. Nakanishi then mentioned that Kojima now has a legitimate claim to an IWGP title shot and would be willing to make Kojima his V1 defence if Kojima, the New Japan and All Japan offices were open to the idea.

A child then asked Nakanishi how long he thought that the match on Sunday would last before Tanahashi beat him, this enraged Nakanishi, who angrily stated that he would defeat Tanahashi easily in under ten minutes then promptly called an end to the demonstration.

Milano speaks on entering the Junior division

Milano Collection AT spoke ahead of his first full foray into New Japan's Junior division on Sunday. Milano was full of praise for his fellow juniors, saying that this was a new challenge in his career and he was looking forward to establishing himself as a force in the division, Milano requested matches against the four 'peaks' of the New Japan Juniors as he put it, Kanemoto, Tiger Mask, Minoru and Liger. When asked which side of the Junior war he would be siding with, Milano stated that he was on the side of BLACK REBORN and would be looking to bring an 'Black Italian Revolution' to New Japan.

Tiger Mask and Prince Devitt public demonstration

Tiger Mask and the in-form Prince Devitt gave a public demonstration today at the New Japan dojo today, Tiger Mask showing Devitt some of his moves, maybe a mistake by Tiger, as Devitt may be a dangerous opponent of his in the near future. Tiger Mask then told the gathered press that he was open to the idea of teaming with Devitt and a possible IWGP Junior Tag Team title challenge, as no Tiger Mask or European wrestler have held those belts in its history, and it would be a great honour for both to be the first.

NJPW, 9/24/06 (SXW)

Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium

6000 fans Super No Vacancy

The CIRCUIT 2006 IGNITION tour came to a close today with a big show in Osaka featuring two important title matches. In the main event it was Hiroshi Tanahahsi, defending his IWGP title for the first time, versus the G1 Climax winner, Manabu Nakanishi. Leading into the match, both men were confident of victory, but as they made their entrance, Nakanishi being seconded by old friend Kojima, both looked understandably nervous. The two never took their eyes off each other as the introductions were read and when the bell rung, both men started out tentatively, neither wanting to give up any early advantage. The two had a feeling out process then exchanged mat holds, Tanahashi surprisingly keeping pace with the former Amaresu star, Nakanishi. With neither man gaining a clear advantage, both then returned to their feet, laying into each other viciously with repeated forearms, much to the delight of the crowd, this proved to be a mistake of the champions behalf though, as Nakanishi superior strenght shone through and he was able to gain the advantage, sending Tanahashi to the outside at the four minute mark. Nakanishi then sent Tanahashi into the guard rail, then bundled him over it into the crowd, goading the champion to re-enter the ring as he got back to his feet.

Nakanishi went to charge Tanahashi as he climbed back into the ring, but Tanahashi was able to move and Nakanishi crashed and burned through the ropes, Tanahashi then launched himself from the apron onto the prone challenger with a diving body press. Tanahashi then softened Nakanishi with a few quick kicks and rolled him back into the ring. Tanahashi climbed the top turnbuckle and hit a splash, but only for a one count! Nakanishi climbed to his feet, only to be met with a dropkick from the champion, Tanahashi then took it to Nakanishi, backing him into the corner with clubbing blows and whipping him off the ropes into another dropkick. Tanahashi managed to keep on top of Nakanishi for several minutes, utilising a smash and grab offence, not allowing Nakanishi to take him down or use him power arsenal. The match turned however, when Tanahashi looked to finish the match early, going for a Sling Blade just as ten minutes passed. Tanahashi went for his finishing move but found only air as Nakanishi ducked the attempt, grabbing Tanahashi out of mid air almost and dropping him heavily with a German Suplex Hold that scored a near fall. Nakanishi then picked the champion up, Tanahashi looking dazed and confused from the previous move, completely at Nakanishi's mercy. Nakanishi showed little though, locking in a Cobra Twist, wearing the champion down. Tanahashi began to claw for the ropes to break the hold was close to passing out when he managed to find one last spurt of energy and grab the bottom rope, Nakanishi held onto the hold as long as referee Tayama would allow. Nakanishi then began to dominate the champion, leading to resounding 'Tanahashi' calls as the crowd begged for a comeback. Nakanishi backed Tanahashi into the corner and punished the champion with brutal slaps to the face and vicious shoulder thrusts.

Tanahsahi began to show life though at the seventeen minute mark, and was able to once again swing the match in his favour, Nakanishi shouting 'Verdict' to the crowd, but Tanahashi caught Nakanishi's set up kick and turned it into a dragon screw legwhip, then trapping Naka!nishi in the figure four leg lock, a move Tanahashi learnt from his mentor, Tatsumi Fujinami. Nakanishi cried out in pain as Tanahashi tightened the hold, but was able to drag himself to the ropes, breaking the submission attempt. Tanahashi then hit a enziguri, sending Nakanishi to the mat, and a standing senton. Tanahashi then went for a cross armbreaker, but was unable to prise Nakanishi's hands apart, so transitioned into a grounded sleeper, once again though, the champion was foiled as Nakanishi was able to escape as the match passed twenty minutes, both men beginning to show the signs of tremendous physical exertion.

Both men reset back to their feet and began to trade blows, it seemed as though Tanahashi was the fresher man though as he looked to be gaining the upperhand in the exchange, but out of nowhere, Nakanishi rallied and caught Tanahashi with a mid to the midsection, doubling him over, Nakanishi then scooped Tanahashi onto his shoulders, span around, and dropped Tanahashi with the Verdict, just as Nakanishi had promised. Nakanishi crawled over to Tanahashi and went for the pin...which Tanahashi kicked out of at 2.9!!! Furious, Nakanishi picked the fallen champion back up and scooped him onto his shoulders again. Nakanishi then charged Tanahashi into the corner, the back of his head hitting the top turnbuckle before dumping Tanahashi on his head in a heap in the corner. Nakanishi then again picked Tanahashi up and carried him to the centre of the ring and delivered another Verdict, except this time, Tanahashi landed on his feet, he then caught a surprised Nakanishi with an Enziguri, then shot off the ropes and hit a Sling Blade...except Tanahashi held on and landed on one knee, Nakanishi now in the Dragon Sleeper! Nakanishi fought against the hold for nearly half a minute before he was left with no choice but to tap out, handing Tanahashi a victory in an extremely hard fought V1 defence.

An emotional Tanahashi broke down as he was handed his trophies and the championship ceremony took place. Tanahashi then took the house microphone and thanked the fans for their support and Nakanishi for a superb match, Tanahashi then extended his hand to Nakanishi, who took it and congratulated Tanahashi on a excellent performance. Nakanishi's friend though, Satoshi Kojima, crashed the party, taking the microphone from his old teammate. Kojima addressed thr champion, sensationally stating that Kojima has returned to New Japan full time and is now a fully affiliated wrestler once again, and that, in his first act as New Japan's newest fighter, he formally challenges Tanahashi to an IWGP Heavyweight title match on 10/9 at the Tokyo Ryogoku Kokugikan. Tanahashi then looked to the crowd, who were cheering him on, and said that he accepts Kojima's challenge and will complete a Bull Powers one-two in Tokyo.

Youth and experience collided for the IWGP Tag Team titles as ChoTen looked to make their fourth defence of their titles against the young upstart team of Toru Yano and Tomohiro Ishii, who have impressed of late with their quick growth as a pairing. Leader Chono sent henchman Tenzan in to start the match against Ishii and the four time IWGP champion quickly made the gulf in class between himself and Ishii obvious, controlling the youngster at will. Tenzan battered Ishii, then went to tag in Chono, but Chono refused, telling Tenzan to continue the beating. This distracted Tenzan and he was blindsided by the recovering Ishii, who then made a tag to a fired up Yano, who showed little respect for his peers and really took it to Tenzan, hitting a powerslam for a two count. Yano then dragged Tenzan to his corner and the two youngsters began working over Tenzan, as Chono looked on from his corner.

Tenzan was almost completely beaten as the ten minute mark passed and it looked as though we may have been in for an upset, but Yano and Ishii's inexperience told as they mis-communicated on a double team move attempt and hit each other, Tenzan then used this opportunity to tag to Chono, who now accepted it and began dominating his opponents, bloodying both Yano and Ishii with the help of the ringpost on the outside. Chono then isolated the legal man Ishii and levelled him with a Yakuza Kick, Chono then paitently waited for Ishii to get to one knee, before unleashing a vicious Shining Yakuza Kick, he then ensured a complete victory by applying the FTS, Ishii submitting quickly. After the ceremonial duties were out of the way, Chono took the microphone and praised Yano and Ishii for the beating they gave Tenzan, and Tenzan for taking it. He then offered the spot of 'tag assassins' in BLACK REBORN to Yano and Ishii, who, after mulling over the decision for a minute, accepted, meaning BR grows to five members. How this will go down with Ishii's World Japan and RikiPro mentor and Chono's mortal enemy, Riki Choshu, remains to seen.

Yugi Nagata's request to face New Japan's 'biggest wall' came to fruition today, and it was Nagata who played bulldozer, knocking down the wall, Akebono, easily, in under ten minutes. Nagata was rarely troubled by the former sumo, and was able to keep him at bay with strikes and control the match on the mat. Nagata again went for his exploder suplex, and it appeared as though he may do it, as he momentarily had Akebono's feet off the floor, however Nagata's leg gave way and the giant landed on top of Nagata, almost winning the match with very little offence. Nagata was able to recover though and repeatedly kicked at Akebono's leg, forcing him onto one knee, from where Nagata delivered an absolutely brutal looking Thunder Death Kick, right into Akebono's face, knocking him senseless and leaving him open for an easy pinfall, Nagata saluting the crowd as he pinned the former yokozuna.

In a direct rematch of Shinsuke Nakamura's return match at the beginning of the tour, he once again teamed with Riki Choshu against the gaijin power team of Bernard and Tomko, however, after Nakamura's resounding dominance in that match,in this one he was reduced to a bit part player as the two foreigners showed previously unseen tag chemistry in isolating Choshu, this was partly Choshu's fault though, as he had ample opportunities to tag out, but his boiling rage at Bernard for his recent disrespect got the better of him and he kept attacking. In the end, Choshu simply began to run out of steam, allowing Bernard to retake control of the match and in the end, pin 'Power Hall' following a Bernard Bomb. After the match, Bernard grabbed a microphone and provoked Nakamura, who had done next to nothing in the match, telling him that he should face Bernard on 10/9 if he wants to see real strength and power. Nakamura then told Bernard that he would be happy to accept Bernard's challenge, but warned him he will feel the full force of pure pro wrestling and will be completely defeated.

Minoru and Kanemoto met for the first time since their titanic IWGP Junior title match today, will Minoru gaining a small measure of revenge, leading his team to victory against Kanemoto, Wataru and Samurai, Gedo pinning Wataru with the superfly splash. Minoru provoked Kanemoto throughout the match, so it appears that Minoru's grudge against the champion is continuing, although Minoru will have to wait a fair while before he will be considered for another title challenge.

In the other junior six man tag match, BR member Milano Collection AT made his debut in the New Japan Junior division and was impressive, however, we was unable to help his team avoid defeat as Tiger Mask pinned his nemesis, Black Tiger

with a Tiger Suplex Hold. Milano was given the brunt of the work to do by his teammates Black Tiger and CTU boss, Jushin Thunder Liger, he easily overcame the challenges of Prince Devitt and Ryusuke Taguchi, sending them both packing before coming face to face with Tiger Mask, much to the crowds delight. Tiger Mask was able to use home soil advantage and the backing of the crowd though and took it to Milano, the former 'Italian Revolution' leader though was quick to fire back at Tiger, and it looks like the two have already forged a competitive rivalry.

In the opener, Mitsuhide Hirasawa showed his own growth as a Young Lion, surpassing the much older Uwano, beating him with a Crab Hold. Uwano is really struggling of late and is beginning to lose sight of people like Yujiro, Devitt and Hirasawa, and with Naito beginning to show progress, he may have to begin watching his back if he performs poorly in the G2 U30 tournament.

1. Mitsuhide Hirasawa defeated Takashi Uwano (7:46) with a Crab Hold.

2. Tiger Mask, Prince Devitt and Ryusuke Taguchi defeated Jushin Thunder Liger, Black Tiger and Milano Collection AT (16:54) when Tiger Mask defeated Black Tiger with a Tiger Suplex Hold.

3. Minoru and Jado and Gedo defeated Koji Kanemoto, Wataru Inoue and El Samurai (18:57) when Gedo defeated Wataru with a Superfly Splash.

4. Giant Bernard and Travis Tomko defeated Shinsuke Nakamura and Riki Choshu (13:35) when Bernard defeated Choshu with a Bernard Bomb.

Tanahashi Victory Press Conference / Kojima's contract

Hiroshi Tanahashi held a victory press conference, chaired by Vice-President Sugehayashi, today after his sucessful V1 defence against Manabu Nakanishi. Tanahsahi was understandably in high spirits, though looking a little battered and bruised. Tanahashi was proud to proclaim that he had proved his critics wrong and shown that speed, agility and intelligence were an able match for brute strength. Tanahashi said that he was impressed by Nakanishi's perserverence, but he expected nothing less from an 'elite level' wrestler such as Nakanishi. Tanahashi then said that his extra submission training had paid dividends yesterday and he was looking to further that progress even more before 10/9 and would be entering the dojo of a Japanese Mixed Martial Arts traiing camp, whose name he refused to disclose.

Tanahashi then turned his attentions towards his next challenge, former four-crown champion and newly affiliated New Japan wrestler, Satoshi Kojima. Tanahashi said that he is happy Kojima is challenging him for the belt, as he has been on the lookout for revenge since 9/18, where Kojima cleanly pinned Tanahashi following a Lariat. Tanahashi said there would be no greater revenge then beating Kojima in his first match back as a full New Japan wrestler, though he berated Kojima for ever turning his back of New Japan in the first place.

A journalist then asked V-P Sugehayashi how long negotiations had been ongoing with Kojima, he replied that they had been very short, as it was Kojima who approached them, saying he was coming to the end of his All Japan contract and was enjoying his time in New Japan. He also felt that he had achieved all he could in All Japan and was looking for a fresh challenge among New Japan's top heavyweights. President Sugehayashi also stressed that President Simon Inoki played a large part in the deal, smoothing things over with All Japan by promising them participation in future events from New Japan wrestlers.

LOCK UP, 9/29/06

Niigata Phase

Attendance 300

LOCK UP has its first (or second?) heavyweight champion, who was crowned today, and the man holding the title is none other than Togi Makabe, winning his first ever singles title in Japan. Makabe fought hard to claim his prize, defeating two respected veterans on his way to victory in the VOLCANO tournament. He met 'King of the Independents' Kintaro Kanemura in the tournament final, Kanemura earlier defeating Koshinaka (more of that later) and Makabe gained revenge for his partners defeat, spearing Kanemura for the win after a bloody, but clean fought battle, which was surprising given Kanemura's deathmatch background. The fact that Makabe was even in the final was much of a surprise, as few expected him to able to defeat LOCK UP foreman, Choshu in the semi finals. Choshu is struggling for form now in both New Japan and LoCK UP, he was never able to control Makabe as many would have thought and in the end Makabe was powerbombed Choshu for the win.

As already mentioned, in the other semi, Kanemura was able to defeat Koshinaka in a match where both men were liberal with their use of weapons such as chairs and tables, Kanemura in the end delivering his Blast Yama Special diving senton through a table to Koshinaka, after the match, Kanemura and Koshinaka were verbally chastised by Choshu for the use of weapons during the match, saying that LOCK UP represented pure pro wrestling, so maybe this is why Kanemura wrestled 'cleanly' in the final, probably to his detriment.

In the other non-tournament matches, new BR 'tag assassins' Yano and Ishii recovered from their 9/24 defeat by ChoTen, defeating the Apache Army combo of Sasaki and Kuroda, Ishii pinning Kuroda with a German Suplex Hold after his team dominated most of the match, much is expected of this team and their attitude today, after such a demoralising defeat will do much to show that the faith being shown in them in justified.

The young generation battle between Naofumi Yamamoto and Ryuoji Sai continued today, and as before, a direct win for Yamamoto against his rival eluded him, Yamamoto having to be content with backdropping Yaguchi for the win. Yamamoto teamed for the first time with former dojo mate Yujiro today, and the two were said to have shown good chemistry in the ring. Maybe this will have pleased Yamamoto's mentor, Yugi Nagata, who congratulated the two as they returned to the back after the match, much to the small crowds delight.

CTU tandem Jado and Gedo continued their own dominance of the Apache Army, as they downed BADBOY Hido and GENTARO, this was BADBOY's first appearence against CTU since his beating at the hands of Kishin Liger, and again, he tasted defeat, though not directly as it was GENTARO would took the fall, being Superfly Splashed by Gedo.

The opening two matches had a RikiPro versus New Japan theme, and in the end, the series was tied 1-1, with Mitsuhide Hirasawa picking up an important victory in his growth, submitting Daisaku Shimoda with a Crab Hold and in the opening match, former World Japan and current Big Japan star Daisuke Sekimoto made short work of Tetsuya Naito, who has yet to pick up a victory since his debut, but has shown plenty of potential, potential he will need to build on if he is to have any impact on the upcoming G2 U30 Climax tournament.

1. Daisuke Sekimoto defeated Tetsuya Naito (4:38) with a High-Angle German Suplex.

2. Mitsuhide Hirasawa defeated Daisaku Shimoda (5:35) with a Crab Hold.

3. VOLCANO TOURNAMENT - Semi Final: Kintaro Kanemura defeated Shiro Koshinaka (9:53) with a Blast Yama Special.

4. VOLCANO TOURNAMENT - Semi Final: Togi Makabe defeated Riki Choshu (8:49) with a Powerbomb.

5. Jado and Gedo defeated BADBOY Hido and GENTARO (9:34) when Gedo defeated GENTARO with a Superfly Splash.

6. Naofumi Yamamoto and Yujiro defeated Ryuoji Sai and Ichiro Yaguchi (10:32) when Yamamoto defeated Yaguchi with a Backdrop Suplex.

7. Toru Yano and Tomohiro Ishii defeated Mammoth Sasaki and Tetsuhiro Kuroda (10:51) when Ishii defeated Sasaki with a German Suplex Hold.

8. VOLCANO TOURNAMENT - Final - WMG Heavyweight Title: Togi Makabe defeated Kintaro Kanemura (12:19) with a Spear to become the 2nd champion.

OOC Note - Mid way through writing this up, I decide to check SSS for 9/24 results, and what do I find, Togi Makabe winning his first singles title, beating... you guessed it Kintaro Kanemura. Eh, great minds think alike, me and the Apache bookers :P

'Shinya' Makabe Speaks on title win

New WMG Heavyweight champion Makabe today gave a press conference with LOCK UP foreman Riki Choshu at the New Japan offices. His first announcement was to correct a journalist who addressed him as 'Togi', Makabe scolded the reporter and said that, now, as champion, he will be going by his birth name of Shinya Makabe once again, in LOCK UP at least. He said it is now up to him to show the true spirit and behaviour of a champion and the use of an untrue name would not reflect this.

Makabe then spoke about his victories, claiming he had beaten the best of the big leagues in Choshu and the best of the independents in Kanemura, making him a complete champion. He the stated he would be happy to face however is chosen, but suggested his friend and tag partner, Shiro Koshinaka for his V1 Defence.

Choshu then interjected that he had heard that Kensuke Sasaki may be looking to reclaim the title he never lost, on this note, Makabe promptly called a halt to the press conference and left immediately.

Choshu continued anyway in the absence of the champion, stating that he is extremely proud so far of LOCK UP despite the poor attendance of the last show, saying that if LOCK Up continues to show wrestling in its purest form, then the fans will eventually flock to their shows. He especially praised his young proteges from RikiPro and the efforts of the Apache Army wrestlers on the previous shows and was looking for more of the same in the future.

Kanemura blasts Choshu

Speaking from Apache Army headquarters, 'King of the Independents' Kintaro Kanemura verbally berated LOCK UP foreman Choshu, Kanemura was furious that Choshu threatened him with dismissal if he used weapons in the WMG title match versus Makabe. Kanemura understood that Choshu wants to present pure pro wrestling, but Kanemura what is more pure then simple violence and bloodlust. Kanemura vowed to confront Choshu in the ring and present 'Power Hall' with Kanemura brand pure pro wrestling.

BLACK REBORN send a message - Chono aims high!

After a weeks well earned rest after the IGNITION tour, the newly expanded BLACK REBORN faction gathered today at Chono's private dojo in front of some assembled press, and sent a strong and clear message to the rest of New Japan.

Chono began by introducing his new 'tag assassins' as he puts it, Toru Yano and Tomohiro Ishii. Chono said he was greatly impressed wiht the young teams chemistry and their individual spirit and vigour in the face of adversity, in which he means himself and Tenzan. Chono said the first part of their plan was to turn the 'tag team division black' and that is why he is despatching Yano and Ishii to hunt down Real Wild Child after they have both competed in the G2 U30 Climax and capture the IWGP Provisional Tag Team titles from them.

Chono then continued that 'Junior Assassin' Milano Collection AT would now be fully focussing on the Junior division, he has instructed Milano to challenge the four 'pillars' of the Junior division, mentioning Koji Kanemoto, Tiger Mask, Minoru and Jushin Thunder Liger by name, and bringing both Junior singles titles into BLACK REBORN. Chono then hinted that when this is complete he will recruit another junior member to partner Milano in the quest for IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team gold, thus completing the 'Black Italian Revolution' of the New Japan Junior division.

Chono then went on to day that himself and Tenzan (who was markedly quiet today and seemed angry with Chono, possibly due to the little help he received in Osaka) will be firstly looking to break their own defence record, currently at seven during their fourth reign as champions, then either himself or Tenzan, possibly both will be looking to challenge for the IWGP Heavyweight title, whomever the champion maybe.

Chono said that when all of New Japan's recognised titles are in the hands of BLACK REBORN, he will set about dismantling the power structure around enemies Simon Inoki and Riki Choshu, driving them from New Japan before starting his own 'Black revival' of New Japan with himself as President!

When Chono had finished his diatribe, Tomohiro Ishii was asked by a journalist why he had turned his back on Choshu to join BR. Ishii squirmed uncomfortably before answering that he felt that there was a 'wind of change' about to blow through New Japan and he wanted to be part of something historical. He thanked Choshu for all his guidance in his career so far, but felt that Chono could take him to the next level, as demonstrated by Chono's wish for him and Yano to challenge Real Wild Child and co-rule the tag division with ChoTen.

WRESTLE LAND 10/8 Card Released

The card for the upcoming Chapter five of WRESTLE LAND has been released, and with New Japan persisting at Korakuen Hall, they are putting on some intriguing matchups, not least the main event, where 'high flying star' Tanahashi takes on a fierce rival from his past, in the shape of Makai #4! Makai #4 was of course unmasked as Katsuyori Shibata and with Shibata's recent departure from BIG MOUTH LOUD, it remains to be seen if this is the real Makai #4 or an imposter.

After unsucessfully challenging Tiger Mask at the last show, Makai Milano gets another bit opportunity as he takes on Tanaka in singles competition, whether this match will have any bearing of the New Japan junior division remains to be seen, as a victory for Milano here could capapult right into title contention back on the main brand.

TAKU Michinoku returns to WRESTLELAND after missing the last show, and he has thrown out a special challenge to the junior WRESTLE LAND 'ace' Tiger Mask, this is a big opportunity for TAKU, who is trying to show great courage to the fans, and he will be looking to impress against the junior superstar though few expect Tiger to have much trouble despatching his young opponent, but TAKU is persisting nonetheless.

After the debacle on the last show, which saw Toru Yano collaspe in a drunken stupor and get pinned, Yano has sworn revenge on the team that defeated him, in his first attempt at revenge, he has challenged Taichi Ishikari to a 'Sake on a pole' match. It is believed the object of this match is too retrieve a bottle of sake hanging off a pole and then the bottle becomes a legal weapon to be used however the holder sees fit. This will be a new experience for both men and will be interesting to see how they fare.

Jado and Gedo enter the WRESTLE LAND versus Makai Club war as they take on the former persona of their CTU brother, Minoru and a as yet unnamed partner in tag action. Hoshino has promised an entirely new Makai assassin for the match, someone from Jado and Gedo's past, someone who knows all their tactics and will send them to complete defeat.

Makai will be battling on two fronts during the show, as they send four of their members into a tag team war with the obnoxoiusly long-named 'Crazy Blond Outlaw Dogs'and an unknown partner. Makai will be introducing another two new members, Makai #24 and Makai BADBOY, so no prizes for guessing how that one will be, though #24 remains a mystery.

Edo Samurai and Pegasus Kid continue their fledgling team in WRESTLE LAND, as they face Makai Masked Hurricane and the another new? Makai member, as Makai #2 resurfaces. This match is a masks versus masks No Escape match, with the losers being forced to unmask, and will not be able to escape as Hurricane has done previously as the match will be surrounded by the entire WRESTLE LAND roster, lumberjack style!

Usual openers Tsubo Genjin and Gran Naniwa will have to put their differences aside as they team in the opening match, facing Yano's stable mates, Kashiwa and Ishizaki.

WRESTLE LAND, 10/8/06

Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. Tsubo Genjin and Gran Naniwa vs Daigoro Kashiwa and Teppei Ishizaki

2. Masks versus Masks No Escape - Pegasus Kid and Edo Samurai vs Makai Masked Hurricane and Makai #2

3. Black Strong Machine, Tatsutoshi Goto, Michiyoshi Ohara and X vs Makai #5, Makai #11, Makai #24 and Makai BADBOY

4. Jado and Gedo vs Makai HEAT and X

5. Sake on a Pole Match - Toru Yano vs Taichi Ishikari

6. TAKU Special Challenge - TAKU Michinoku vs Tiger Mask

I really like the idea of Tanahashi vs. Makai #4 who may or may not be Shibata. Absolutely brilliant booking. Plus the 'Sake on a Pole' match idea just rules. Anyways, that's a great looking card. I can't wait for Tanahashi vs. Makai #4, I think that's just an awesome idea.

Big Changes for Yujiro - New Hair, New Attire, New Mentor!

Recent Young Lion graduate Yujiro held his first ever press conference today, with, along with himself, VP Sugehayashi and friend Naofumi Yamamoto in attendence. Yujiro was sporting a new haircut as promised, a complete skinhead! Yujiro, now looking like a mini Kazuyuki Fujita, spoke about how this was a new dawn for himself and was looking to make the most of it. Yujiro spoke about teaming with Yamamoto in LOCK UP and said he would like to carry this team over into New Japan in the forseeable future, stating that they wish to emulate Yano and Ishii in their quick rise up the tag ranks and then prove their dominance over BR's tag assassins.

Yujiro then held up his new ring attire, which is blue trunks, blue kneepads, blue shinguards and blue boots. Yujiro said that this was in honour of his new mentor and teacher...Yugi Nagata! That's right, Yujiro has officially joined the Nagata LOCK office. Yujiro said that he was offered a placement by Nagata at the LOCK UP show after impressing 'Mr Saikyo' during that match and his trial series, despite picking up no wins.

Yujiro then introduced his new teacher, and Nagata made his way to the conference table and sat down next to his new protege's. Nagata spoke about his ambition to form his own office for a long time, as a way to pass on his knowledge of pure professional wrestling. He chose what he believes are New Japan's two brightest young stars, and is aiming to make their stars shine brighter than they ever believed, and that is why he is as hard on Yamamoto as he is, saying it is for Yamamoto's own good, Nagata reiterated that unless Yamamoto has an exceptional showing in the G2 tournament, his place in the office will be in jeopardy.

Yamamoto replied that he has vowed to win the tournament and prove that he is the strongest young wrestler in all of professional wrestling, and to the use that sucess to launch himself into the upper echelons of New Japan. Nagata said that now he would be looking for a good showing from Yujiro too, telling Yujiro to 'be ambitious'

Nagata finished the conference by stating that he is looking to add a fourth member to the office, an old friend who has been struggling of late, but has an important 'birthday' coming up soon, as he feels the threat of the new BLACK REBORN faction to New Japan, saying he will not let the company fall into the hands of Chono, as he knows from history, Chono cannot be trusted.

Well, I've just got through reading the last five or so shows and all the updates and I'm glad to see that this diary is continuing at its high level. I'm really enjoying the Nagata LOCK office being a breeding ground for future stars and the continuing rise of Prince Devitt in the junior division brings a smile to my face.

It was great to see Tanahashi go over strong in his V1 defence and I'm really hoping he doesn't drop the title to Kojima in his next defence. Nice to see Nagata get around the weight disadvantage by kicking Akebono really fucking hard, good work! Interesting dynamic in the Bernard/Tomko Vs. Nakamura/Choshu match as well, can't wait to see where that goes.

Keep up the good work man, I'm really enjoying this diary.

CIRCUIT 2006 EXPLOSION - G2 U30 CLIMAX tour cards released

All ten participants in the G2 tournament gathered today at the New Japan offices today for the official declarations of the blocks and the schedule of the tournament. The ten participants have been split into two blocks of five, following this years G1 format, with one participant getting a day off in each round of matches.

Block A consists of new Nagata LOCK member, Yujiro, BR assassin Tomohiro Ishii, Mitsuhide Hirasawa, Takashi Uwano and ZERO-1 MAX representative, Ryuoji Sai. Block B sees the other Nagata LOCK pupil, Naofumi Yamamototake on Toru Yano, who was defeated in the final of the last tournament to crown an U30 champion by current IWGP champion Hiroshi Tanahashi, newest dojo graduate Tetsuya Naito and the 'outsiders', representing Big Japan, Daisuke Sekimoto and representing Kings Road, Taichi Ishikari.

The very first round of matches sees an interesting battle as Ryuoji Sai continues his grudge with Yamamoto indirectly, taking on his 'classmate' Yujiro, in a match that may go a long way to deciding the winner of Block A. In Block B, it will remian to be seen if Yamamoto's experiences with the heavyweights have helped his progress, though many expect him to progress into the later stages with relative ease, his only real threat may come from Yano, who I am sure Chono will have instructed to win the group from Yamamoto after Nagata's comments towards BLACK REBORN recently, the same going for Block A where Ishii faces off against Yujiro. With the representatives of each factions been split, there is a possibility that we could see Nagata LOCK versus Nagata LOCK in one semi and BLACK REBORN versus BLACK REBORN in the other, with the winners meeting in the final for early bragging rights in this apparent fledgling factional war.

Also on this tour, New Japan veteran and Young Lion 'wall' Takashi Iizuka celebrates his twentieth anniversary as a professional wrestler, having debuted on November 2nd 1986 against Akira Nogami, Iizuka later went on the form the tag team J-J-JACKS with Nogami, before both men went their seperate ways. It will be Nogami that Iizuka faces in his anniversary match, but it will not be the same Nogami that Iizuka faced all those years ago, because Nogami went on to become the IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion and later, the movie star, AKIRA!, who will be making a one off return to the New Japan ring to face his old partner.

Iizuka's anniversary show also sees and Block A versus Block B ten man elimination tag match, as a precursor to the tournament semi finals on the next show.

Predictions:

Block A: Yujiro and Ryouji Sai - Yujiro's new Nagata Lock alliance = push. Sai because he's the outsider that'll reach the Semis. I think at least.

BlocK B: Naofumi Yamamoto and Toru Yano. Yamamoto and Yano are in my opinion the givens. Unless Yamamoto falls flat on his face.
