Wrestling Society X Episode #5

September 2nd, 2006

Taped In Los Angeles, California

CM Punk vs. Kenny King

The show opens with Kenny King stretching in the ring as Fairplay and Punk hype the show before “Miseria Cantare (The Beginning)” by AFI blasts out, heralding the arrival of CM Punk. He is wearing his usual wrestling trunks and jacket as he does his cross arm pose at the top of the ramp. The fans cheer a little, but he ignores them and slides into the ring, nearly taking off Kenny King’s head with a lariat.

King is dazed as Punk immediately stomps away at his opponent’s arm, bending it with a few submissions before lifting King up and nailing a Hammerlock DDT. He slaps around King some more, hitting chops and kicks before twisting King’s arm and doing a ropewalk. He pauses than leaps off, hitting a legdrop onto the limb before slapping on the Anaconda Vice for a quick tap out.

King rolls around in pain as Punk gets up, shoving referee Brian Hebner away as he leaves the ring and snatches the microphone of Todd Grisham away.

Straight Edge Messiah?

Punk says that this match was a joke, and that he is a former world champion. He declares that he is above facing off with nobodies like Kenny King, and he should just be handed the WSX world title. He goes on to tell a few drinking fans in the front row that they don’t need to be drunk to appreciate his work, unlike the rest of the WSX roster. He says that he plans to start stealing shows after tonight, and that WSX better provide him with some real competition. He finishes by saying that he is a wrestling messiah, and he is willing to take on anyone in WSX, claming he can easily defeat anybody on the roster. Fairplay says he likes Punk’s attitude, as Kloss doesn’t agree, but notes that Punk is definitely one of the best wrestlers if this match is any indication.

Teddy Hart w/ Jack Evans vs. Delirious w/ Matt Sydal & Lizzy Valentine

Hart and Evans emerge to booing as Teddy removes his silk shirt, tossing it at Grisham as Evans gets in his face. Sydal and Delirious than come out, Delirious looking around the ring and than sliding in as Hart stomps him early!

Hart follows up with more stomping, kicking away at Delirious with hard boots before dropping a knee across his back and slapping on a half boston crab. Hart keeps Delirious grounded for most of the match, working him over and showing his technical talents as he tries to keep the mysterious Delirious out of the air. Lizzy and Sydal try to shout support at him, but it isn’t too effective as Jack Evans intervenes, choking Delirious behind the officials back and generally being a little bastard at ringside. Delirious eventually fight’s back, hitting a few flying moves and calling for his Chemical Imbalance, but Jack Evans is on the ring apron. He goes for a springboard move, but Delirious ducks as Evans lands on his feet. Matt Sydal than nails Evans with a missile dropkick that send him out of the ring as Hart clubs his back and lifts him up for a backdrop, but Delirious manages to roll behind him and manages a victory roll with a bridge for the three!

Sydal drags Delirious out of the ring and both men celebrate with Lizzy as Evans crawls towards Hart, both men yelling towards Sydal & Delirious as they vow revenge.

Result: Delirious via pinfall

World Title Brackets.

Jonny leaves the announce position, the WSX title hanging over his shoulder as he steps through the ropes and enters the ring. Todd Grisham hands him the microphone as Fairplay says he has set up the brackets since the roster he has amassed is so great he couldn’t possibly hand someone a title. He says he certainly has favourites, but he also has to take into account what the fans want, even if they don’t know any better yet. He points towards the big screen and reads off the names as we see the 16 men in the tournament.

Too much?

We come back from commercials to see Maven standing backstage with Slyk Wagner Brown as Matt Morgan stares into the camera behind them. Maven says he is ready to turn things around tonight, and build some momentum towards his eventual WSX title win. Slyk says to not go so fast, as he plans on winning the title himself, and hopes to crush JD Michaels in the 2nd round after beating that nobody Sonny Siaki. Maven says he would be honoured to face a man like Slyk, who he says is just “misunderstood” like Matt. Morgan nods a little as the promo ends with both men claiming they are going to be a team tonight, and that Waltman, Siaki & Michaels is too much ego for one team to take.

Rating: 69

Slyk Wagner Brown gained overness from this segment.

Maven, Matt Morgan & Slyk Wagner Brown vs. Sonny Siaki, Sean Waltman & JD Michaels w/ April Hunter

We cut to ringside as Fairplay says any of those three men, including Matt Morgan, would make a fine champion for his company. Waltman, Siaki and Michaels all make separate entrances, as Kloss says that maybe Maven was right about this team. All three opponents arrive together, but get a triple slingshot body splash to start the match!

Sadly for Michaels, Matt Morgan catches him and drops the young man throat first across the steel guardrail before grabbing Waltman from behind and driving him face first into the steel post. All three heels beat Siaki around the ring and roll him in as Slyk immediately goes to work with some power moves. Siaki is isolated as all three heels take turns pummelling him with hard shots while Siaki and Michaels try to rally the crowd along with April Hunter at ringside. The fans start up a “Let’s Go Sonny” chant as Siaki almost gets free with a few elbows, but after running off the ropes he eats Matt Morgan’s big boot to jeers. The heels make a few tags and dominate some more until Siaki ducks a Maven lariat and nails a nice spinning wheel kick as both men are down. Crowd rallies behind the faces as Siaki crawls to his corner, making the hot tag to Michaels as the CROWD GOES MILD!~ Michaels uses some basic moves to knock out the heels, sweeping out Morgan’s legs as he tags out to Waltman, who gets a great pop. Waltman hits a series of Karate kicks to get control, but the heels try to beat on him. All hell breaks loose, and at some point Maven and Morgan leave the ring, heading up the ramp and abandoning their partner! Slyk yells at them, but turns into an X-Factor as Waltman pin shim for the three!

The fans cheer, as Slyk lies motionless. Maven yells at them from the entrance as Kloss says the World Title tournament starts next week!
