X-Box 360/XBL Problem

My brother just got a 360 and created an account, but when he tries to play a game online, it says "Microsoft has an important message" or something similar and gives him two options: Go to account management to read it, or continue offline.

He goes to account management, and there's nothing there except the usual stuff. But whenever he goes back to the game it just gives him the same message. He can play it fine offline.

Any ideas?

Might he a stupid question but he is signed up for an XBOX LIve Gold account right? You need a Gold account to play online.

Another question, is he over 18? You need to be over 18 to play on Live

He has a gold account, yeah. And he's not over 18 for another month yet, but I signed up as his guardian thingy (whixh is a really dumbass system) so no problems with that.

Fixed it, because I'm the greatest brother ever.

All you have to do (in case anyone else under18 has this problem) is go into Family Settings and then Live Settings and allow Original XBox games.

For some reason, Microsoft thought it would be better if they blocked under 18's from playing original XBox games online. :wtf:

There's a load of other shit blocked as well (some of which I can actually see the point in, but most of which is just wrapping your kid in cotton wool while online), so just unblock it all.

It's mainly for kids. It's just parental control to stop your 5-year old from playing some of the more gruesome Xbox/360 games. Imagine a toddler playing Dead Rising? That's scary.

Yeah, but it lets you play 360 games online, just not original xbox ones. Which is what I was calling retarded. As if somehow the original games are more unsuitable.

Well the old games won't have a rating that the 360 can read. So could be anything up to 18. At least that's my theory.
