So watching The Mighty Boosh and 'Cars' by Gary Numan reminded me how much I love proper 80s electro. Recommend me some. It doesn't have to be specifically from the 80s, but obviously that's the kind of sound I want.

Ultravox - "Dancing With Tears In My Eyes", "Lebanon" and "Don't You Want Me Baby?" by The Human League. As for more recent but still fairly great and cheesy electro, try "Industry" by The Modern.

"Are Friends Electric" is probably better than Cars.

It is, definitely, but I wouldn't say it comes close as far as tackiness goes. If I were just recommending Numan, I'd go with pretty much anything off Telekon.

Also Jona Lewie's "In The Kitchen At Parties" is groovy, Check 'em both out on youtube but for Are Friends Electric make sure you watch the Old Grey Whistle Test performance.

Thomas Dolby

I have Thomas Dolby's Best of and it's brilliant. Hyperactive is one of my favourite songs ever. Ever. Although that might have something to do with Channel 4 using it for an NFL highlights video in the 90s, it was so perfectly set to the music.

Anywho, if you're after single tracks, Gary Numan's Change your Mind is great, as is Gun Law by Kane Gang (good look finding it though). And go see Music and Lyrics, Hugh Grant's 80s band has a quality song (and video) called Pop Goes My Heart. Cheesy as all hell.
