So, does anyone else read the Necroscope books by Brian Lumley?

If you don't, it's basically this - it revolves chiefly around a guy named Harry Keogh who learns at a young age that he can speak to the dead. His mother was ESP-endowed and passed on that power to him. Once he matures he's contacted by this British government branch called E-Branch that deals chiefly in the paranormal - members of the branch have their own unique talents, being ESPers - some can see the future, others are telepaths, others are as simple as "locators" that can use their power to locate other ESP endowed people. Anyway, Harry's recruited (in the first book) to fight a Russian named Dragosani who is a necromancer that learned his talent from a vampire long dead and buried in the earth. Vampires in the book are nothing like the traditional vampire; they are called "Wamphyri" (vam-pheer-ee) and come from a different world all together. They're basically leech-like creatures that feed off of their host and grant them strength and night-on immortality. Dragosani, the necromancer, eventually becomes infected by a vampire and becomes a force to be reckoned with, forcing Harry to go to Russia to deal with Dragosani and the Soviet E-Branch that Dragosani controls.

Anyway, longwinded crap over - I think it's a really good series of books. I just finished Necroscope III: The Source and it's awesome. (Y)

Oh and this may be easier than reading my explanation

If you do find the books don't even bother with the books after Book 5. There's 14 books in the series but they take a sharp plunge downhill after the fifth. It doesn't even involve Harry Keogh or any of the original characters, save for the Vampire World trilogy. The rest are about his kids and his kid's kids and shit like that. Suck.
