Why are most official movie games awful ?

Well, I actually liked the King Kong game (loved to control Kong) and LOTR: The Third Age (maybe because it's similar to Final Fantasy).

But yeah, most of the other official movie games I played are shit.

EDIT: And I spent too much time trying to beat Scar at the Lion King game...

Thiiiirded.

Lion King was quite good, but not as good as Aladdin. I find it amusing to play now just because of "3D" (but not actually 3D) running-from-the-wilderbeast-rampage level. Oh, bless its little cotton socks.

Actually, my main memory of the Lion King Mega Drive game is the 'Can't Wait To Be King' level, because it usually went like this:

*music starts up, midi of course, so not actually with lyrics*

"I'm gonna be a mighty king, so -"

*splosh, the sound of a lion cub dropping unceremoniously into water*

*music restarts*

*repeat*

:shifty:

Movie Games can be bad for a variety of reasons.

Mostly because the movie has no business being a game.

The game does not follow the storyline of the movie.

It is cheaply done to cash in quick on the popularity of the film.

Or all of the above.

Movie games suck because companies know they'll sell anyways so why bother making a quality product when they're gonna make the money no matter what? Why do you think Britney Spears and boy bands were so successful? Kids' parents' money talks.

BTW, Enter The Matrix was nothing but a third-rate Max Payne ripoff with lesbo FMVs. Luckily, I had the PC version so I had more fun playing with the DOS emulator than the actual game.
