Mix CD's

Ok, I'm of to Newquay for a holiday with a load of mates on thursday, and we need some music to take for driving and for general background music when we're there.

Now I have like 40gb of music on my hard drive, but everytime i make a CD they moan at me cuz I've put obscure bands on that nobody's heard of. So I'm looking for suggestions from you lot for songs (classic or modern, as long as they're fairly well known) that they'll know so they don't whinge. I'm looking to make 3 CD's really, one for driving, one for partying and one for chilling. So if you could reccomend me one (or more) song(s) for them three purposes t'would be awesome.
