I'll ring Sony if for some reason Game were funny about taking it back/stingy about what they want to replace it with. The only reason I'm going to Game first was because I spent £40 to get the PS3 covered for stuff like this when I bought it, so it'd be a waste of money just to phone Sony and ignore the warranty.

So I should have a new, working PS3 tomorrow.

One more question about updates;

Will I be prompted to download each and every update since the build of the PS3 I'm given, or will it just be the latest update I'm directed to download?

My thinking is that if it misses updates, I won't be able to use the XMB Bar/PM's in-game unless I can somehow find and download it.

All previously added features are included in the latest update... always. You'll only have to do the update the once.

I've got my PS3 back.

Turns out they needed to replace the HDD and the Laser, so I'm pretty much starting over with it now. Time to re-install some games.
