Max Payne

I figured I'd mark this as a spoiler, just in case. I haven't seen it yet and wanted to know if anyone would recommend seeing it or can give me some insight to the movie.

I love the video game series, but the trailers really make me think that the movie is going to be a flop (Rotten Tomato has it at 17% right now which isn't a good thing either). I think I will just wait for the DVD release and rent it instead of spending the 10+ dollars at the movie theater.

The trailer looks good if you ask me (the graphic novel on the site even better), but where the fuck were there ogre-type things called Valkyries that fly around in the game?

Wasn't Valkyr the name of the drug? Where in the hell did they come up with that?

I've only played the first, and I'm pretty sure they're not in the second.

Nevertheless, from the trailer, Whalberg makes an awesome Payne, acting with the same lack of emotion/angsty depression during the commentary on the novel.

The Valkyries in the trailer are hallucinations. I'm not familiar with the video game, so I can't really speak from experience there, but I didn't think the movie was all that bad. It was certainly acceptable. Would I see it again (the first time) knowing what I do now? Nah, I'd probably wait for DVD, but meh.
