Got bored tonight and figured I'd fool around with GIMP for a few hours. So tell me what you guys think. Suggestions on how to improve?

Not a bad first attempt... I'm not a GIMP user myself, I use photoshop so not sure of the differences.

First i'd try staying away from the magic wand tool for cuts. Use the pen tool to make your cuts or use a PSD site, it takes away from leaving the little jagged bits.

You could also maybe look into a couple of text tutorials or finding a few pre-made backgrounds to jazz it up

not a bad effort, but yeah just keep practicing :-D

Even tho its not a request I just reinstalled GIMP cause it always crashes on me I and figured this would be a good way to see what I can do.
