Joystiq had their award nominations up in September already. Today Spike put up their vote for their Videogame Award Show.

Go and Vote here.

http://www.spike.com/events/video-game-awards-2012-nominees/voting/game-of-the-year

I got a shit ton of votes going for Journey (best song, best ost, best PS3 game, best Indy game) and The Walking Dead (Game of the Year, Best Male Voice Ating, Best Female Voice Acting, Best Adaption to a Videogame, best downloadable game tell tale as best studio mostly because i dident know the others).

I don´t know how much they actually will win because the Big Publisher Titels just might get more Votes by Hype and Attention that surrounded them and the Indy section has games like FEZ i would love to have played but could not due to the lack of an xBox. A bit sad that FTL did not make it to any of the nominations, maybe it´s just to basic looking for a Big TV Event, but what can you do.

But when you look at whats nominated for GOTY...

Assassin's Creed III

Ubisoft / Ubisoft Montreal

Dishonored

Bethesda Softworks / Arkane Studios

Journey

Sony Computer Entertainment / thatgamecompany

Mass Effect 3

Electronic Arts / BioWare

The Walking Dead: The Game

Telltale Games

It should not be possible that this one dos not go to The Walking Dead, right? Lot´s of bad press and fan reactions around Dishonored and ME3. Don´t know about AC3. Journey is great but only reaches on part of the gameing crowed while TWD is on every current gen system (including your Phone) and is generally well received.

I think it's gotta be between ACIII and Walking Dead. Personally I'd vote ACIII as I prefer it though.

Mass Effect 3 is Mass Effect of course but it didn't grip me as much as 2 and, in fact, I've stopped playing half way through a few months ago. I WILL get back to it though when I have time.

Dishonored is the first game in aaages that I played straight through from start to finish. So for me it has to be that.

Joystiq has always gone for AAA titles as the GotY, so based on trends, I'd say AC3, ME3, or Dishonored. Multiplatform games may not count that much, as Uncharted & Fable won while being exclusives. For what it's worth, ME2 was their GotY a while back, so I'll use that as a flimsy excuse to throw that off the board. My gut instinct is AC3 because of it's newness and the fact that Joystiq loves them some open world games.

Of these five, I'd give the nod to Walking Dead with Journey a solid second. WD is a shining example of what this year's gaming has been about for me: story over style. AC3 & ME3 have just gotten too convoluted, while Dishonored does what it does well, but never hooked me.

Joystiq was a vote just as the Spike thing is. I actualy asked them on Facebook why the Walking Dead was no GOTY contender and they said in hindsight they should have put it there but the decisions for nominations were made to early (this was when episode 4 got released)

They actually already announced their winners as i just found out.
