Real Wrestling Promotion Logo

I'm working for DPW, Danish Pro Wrestling, and I've been given a task. We've had the same logo for about ten years now, and now it's time for a change...

What you see at the bottom is the current logo, and there's very few guidelines as to what my boss wants. This is what he's asking for:

It has to scream wrestling... There can't be any doubt that it's a logo for a wrestling organisastion

The words "Dansk Pro Wrestling" has to be in the logo

Other than that there's no restrictions. I would personally prefer either yellow/black, blue/white or black/white, but I'm very open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance to everyone who's willing to lend out a helping hand, and spend their time on this :)

(Bonus: And of course the logo we end up using will go into TEW;))

I personally like these, and I really appreciate the fact that you took time to make them :) However I think the logo need to be a little more wrestling related, other than the name of the company of course. It should be like "That's a wrestling logo" before you even read the name ;)

Can't speak for New Damage but I think it's meant to look like ring ropes and turnbuckles at the right hand side while also incorporating the Danish flag twice over.

I actually didn't see that at all, before you commented :P Now I see the meaning of it, and now I think it's even greater ;)

If you are going to be that fussy it might be time to shell out some cash and actually commission a logo from an artist. That way you can nit-pick 'till your heart's content, instead of shitting all over something someone has taken the time to do for you free of charge.

Well uhm, I'm kinda just the messenger. I personally think they look great like I wrote earlier, but the response I'm getting from my boss wasn't that enthusiastic. And if someone is asking for logo-ideas, and a person gives an idea, that person should be able to handle critisism.... If the response he's then giving back is "then I'm done trying to help", then I thank him for his very appreciated time... But if it's "Okay, I'll give it another go :)", then great! :)

Yeah, something like this definitely deserves payment. Sounds like you want a professional logo without paying for one.

Not at all... If MY BOSS, not me, wanted a professional logo, he would just pay someone to do it. But he asked me if I could make a logo, and took the task and then I went in here to get inspiration, help or even a logo I could use.

I've made six logos myself in Inkscape, but they weren't exactly what my boss had in mind either. All of them had at least one thing he wasn't entirely happy about.

And what was the responce to those logos?

The logos by New Damage are likley the best you are going to get without going to a professional, especally with the vague outline, I'd say New Damage's logo is more modern than your work, those look as though they would be more fitting of a 70's promotion, look up World Class and Mid-Atlantic's logos for example. I do agree that New Damage's logos have a retro look, however they are unique and original enough to be different and a lot better than the typical name/initial logos that are about these days.

The response were exactly what you just wrote... That they look like 70s-80s stuff :P

And I definitely agree with you. I personally think New Damage's logos were great, and if I were to choose I would personally have chosen that one in a heartbeat when I saw it :)

I don't care if it is you or your boss, the fact remains you have a vague concept that you are asking multiple revisions on and will be used for a company. Sounds like someone wants a professional logo for free.
