  1. All I will say of tonight's Boardwalk thusfar is that I never really thought about what a scene between Gyp Rosetti and Chalky White would be like. Turns out it's fantastic.

EDIT: Great episode. Really has me excited for next week.

I imagine that since Eddie didn't die tonight he won't die next week, and that's awesome because I love him and am delighted he got a spotlight in tonight's episode. Nucky realizing that Eddie was the only guy left who was 100%, unquestionably loyal to him and that he's been treating him like shit was great.

I am totally amped up for next week's finale. The preview made it look like it is going to be an insane bloodbath and it makes me giddy. I seriously can't wait to see who survives and who doesn't. And I loved the little bit towards the end with Richard getting all of his weapons ready and am really excited for crazy Richard Harrow - Mercenary to just murder everyone.

  2. Okay, Boardwalk.

Van Alden freaking the fuck out and finally owning one of the douchebags at his job was fantastic. Best scene.

Billie Kent presumably dying was sad both because I liked her and because I'm tired of interesting female characters dying for drama. I guess someone needed to go to up the stakes between everyone and Gyp, though, and Gillian's culpability in it is great.

Meanwhile, I'm watching season four of Sons of Anarchy an episode or two per weekday. It's not great.

I was just thinking about that. They keep killing off all of the AWESOME female characters. I really liked Billie too, and was bummed she was caught in the explosion.

  3. My God. That episode of Boardwalk Empire...

That last scene. I was stunned, I did not see that explosion coming. I thought that maybe Gyp would show up and shoot at Nucky or something, but GOOD LORD. I cannot wait to see the fallout from this and the preview for next week looks like it's going to be getting (even more) crazy.

I am loving Van Alden slowly turning into a gangster. That iron scene, I was just waiting for him to smack the obnoxious guy. Burning him was so much better. He's coming back around to being one of the high points for every episode for me. I want to see more bootlegger Van Alden.

James Cromwell is awesome. As always.

I also liked Gillian's role in everything and I like seeing her match up against Nucky.

I'm interested in seeing more Al Capone, and it looks like they're getting ready to write off Torrio with the scenes this episode.

And I still don't give any shit about Margaret. Seriously, I don't think I've ever disliked any character more than hers. She's just so ugh.

  4. Person of Interest (I know Caveizel is on it and it was his voice)

Really? I was so sure that was Michael Emerson. I've never actually watched it, though I think I could have guessed it too.

    Great score, btw.

It is indeed Michael Emerson, 100%.

Eh. I knew I was wrong when I said that. But it sounded like him and the only show I knew with a machine was that one. Oops.

RE: Hell on Wheels That was indeed a Holy Shit finale. The 2nd season really picked things up and I really enjoyed the last few episodes. Thoughts:

Is that a series finale? Because the way it ended made it seem like it was the end with him just walking down the railroad. And the killing of Lily... GEEZ. Cullen best stop getting with the ladies, they always get killed. With that being said, I wanted to see him snap and just destroy the Swede, but it wasn't to be

:(. I saw the Mr. Toole suicide when he took out his gun. I knew he wouldn't kill Eva, and he had been struggling all season being the other man.

  5. Had my try at the sporcle quiz. I got:

Game of Thrones (Guess), Hell on Wheels, American Horror Story, New Girl, Person of Interest (I know Caveizel is on it and it was his voice), Workaholics (I've heard riff before), and Suburgatory.

And I've only watched Hell on Wheels, AHS, New Girl, and Suburgatory. The other 3 were guesses. The only show I missed of the rest that I watch is Revenge, which I should have gotten.

  6. Now off to watch the last 2 episodes of the L.A. Complex. Have you been keeping up with it GoGo?

Yup. Not everything works (like anything with Beth, though Simon had a funny sub-subplot in the first episode last week, and I'd like to see Raquel, I don't know, actually succeed at this point), but there's still good stuff.

Just watched them both and I gotta say they were good. The Season Finale itself was much better than the first episode, but it set everything up nicely for the 2nd episode, which I really really enjoyed. I think they did a good job wrapping up the season and setting up for a (hopeful) season 3 or making it a series finale. Thoughts:

Abby - Gets married to a guy she barely knows, he leaves to Germany. She follows. Meh. I didn't like her storylines at all.

Nick/Sabrina - My two favorite characters have been Nick and Kal, so I like the majority of his scenes. I didn't expect her to tell him not to come with her, but it made sense and I'd really like to see Nick be successful.

Connor - I thought he was a lot more interesting in season 1, and I didn't like the whole 'Scienetics' thing. I think they could have done it a better way, not sure how, but I'm sure they could have done it a better way.

Raquel - Her get rich scheme backfired and her new boyfriend is arrested. The movie trailer seemed like a success, but once again if she has success in one avenue it seems like she always struggles in another. While the movie trailer seems like the movie could be a decent 'comeback' for her, the fallout of the scam is surely going to ruin all the good.

Beth and Simon - they didn't add much. I had hopes for them after the first episode of the season, but more often than not they bored me.

Kal - Finally, the ongoing struggle of the closeted Rap star. The last few episodes just had everything around Kal crumble and when he usually lashed out, this time he kept his emotions in check and dealt with things. This eventually led to his 'coming out' message on his website, which I thought was a pretty powerful scene as he has struggled through both seasons with it and it finally seems that he is at peace with who he is. I loved watching his scenes as I thought Andra Fuller was the best part of the show and I'll be kinda bummed if this is the end, but I think everything was tied up to make it as a series finale should it be canceled.

Oh and Rook killing Jest? Damn.

  7. Boardwalk Empire:

So far I am loving Gyp (Bobby Cannavale) he is just so un-balanced and seems like a complete psycho. I can't wait to see more of him snapping. I really like him as a potential rival for Nucky.

I want Harrow to just lose his mind and go complete revenge mode against everyone that had a part in Jimmy's death. Seeing him kill Horvitz in the first episode was a pleasant surprise, but I want to see more.

Nucky being obsessed with a new woman? I like that it is causing him problems and he's usually best when he's up against it, and with missing Rothstein's shipment this week, and Rosetti starting to come at his business, things are going to be very interesting.

Now off to watch the last 2 episodes of the L.A. Complex. Have you been keeping up with it GoGo?

  8. Yeah. At that point I'm pretty sure we were just trying to one up each other with the most random stuff we could find. I mean 'Forever' by Jesse and the Rippers and the Baywatch theme song, while great, probably aren't going to be typical viewing.

  9. Yeah, I was bummed when they decided to kneel it when they had 28 seconds left in regulation. I know they were on their own 15, but I'd have liked to see them take a shot. Clearly if the BCS ever needs anyone who will at least play the SEC tough in the Bowl games they should just call UL-Monroe :shifty:.

    Oh, and LET'S GO IRISH!!
