Fisher Athletic are set to make football history when a female manager leads them out for Wednesday's Blue Square South match against Eastleigh.
Club turnstile operator Donna Powell raised £500 for the struggling club and was rewarded with becoming the first woman to manage a Conference side.
"I am confident I can do well - I already run a boys' football team," Powell told the club's website.
"I am no shrinking violet and do not suffer fools lightly."
The 27-year-old, who takes over from regular boss Dave Mehmet for one game, added: "I'll be picking the team and they'll be playing my way, none of this long ball nonsense - we'll be passing the ball on the floor, playing the game the right way.
"Sure, I'll be nervous - I realise there's a difference between kids' football and the Conference South but I see it as football is football no matter how old they are - and I know my stuff."
Fisher press officer Joe Arif added: "If Donna can turn things round, then who knows - maybe there's a permanent position in future."
The south London club have lost their last 10 matches and are a point off the bottom of the table, while Eastleigh are joint third in the league.
Eastleigh director of football David Malone said that the appointment "devalues the league".
"I'm not particularly happy about it, simply because we've got to concentrate our minds on getting three points from the game. I think what they've done is unprofessional," he told BBC Radio Solent.
"Fisher have done it for financial reasons, and I can partly understand that, but I don't think being manager of a Blue Square South team is a saleable commodity,"
"I don't want to sound like a grumpy old man - which I probably do - but at this stage of the season we're working extremely hard to get our side up into the Blue Square Premier, and I think the whole thing is just badly timed.
lol, lower league football

Haven't been able to catch this series of Waterloo Road but I might check it out on iPlayer if I get time.
Oh, and Mika over Chloe any day of the week.

I hate watching baseball but the only time they show it here is at like 4am on Channel 5 so it's never really an issue. With NFL, I love watching the actual physical encounters but I can't stand all the breaks in play and overly-tactical nature of the sport. I've never understood the appeal of putting Poker on TV either.

Can someone watching the game tell me what formation Liverpool are actually playing? I tried figuring it out looking at the team sheet but I have no idea.

I wish Sky bought the late Saturday game. It's annoying as hell when your team plays at that time on Setanta seeing as Sky don't show that game on Football First and then briefly brush over it on Goals on Sunday because they don't have someone commentating it.

Mediawatch and the gossip page on Football365.com do a good job of showing up just how much shite the newspapers make up on a daily basis.

What channel will be broadcasting the draw for the next round?

Sounds more like tabloids trying to fill up columns rather than a story with any actual substance. Bizarre as it sounds, if Kaka was to leave Milan, it'd make more sense for him to go to City than to Madrid.

We were linked with Valencia last year as well. Wouldn't be a bad signing at all but if it does happen, it'll almost definitely be in the summer I think.
-
The report I read had Bruce confirming it wasn't United. I still fully expect it to be City that sign him but apparently there's also a German and Spanish team after him.
-
Suprised John Hartson hasn't been mentioned. I remember back in his West Ham(?) days when he kicked one of his teammates in the face during training. If that doesn't make him one of the most violent footballers, I don't know what will.

To be fair, I don't think there's a straight guy in the world who would say no if one of these women offered it to him.

On the hip-hop side of things, Kid Cudi and Wale are two people that will really break into the mainstream this year. Wale has got Mark Ronson backing him and Cudi's got Kanye West. If these two don't make it, I'll be very surprised.
