  1. Well, there's a rumour doing the rounds that they're retiring after this tour, but somehow I just don't see it. AC/DC don't seem the kind of band that would officially retire.

I'm currently waiting for the added dates to be announced. I missed out on tickets by about five minutes :(

  2. Just for kicks, give us your game's Premiership managers, and their predecessors. In December 2013, after 15 games, from top to bottom, mine are:

    1. Chelsea - Louis van Gaal (only Avram Grant preceded him)

    2. Arsenal - Hubb Stevens (via Arsene Wenger, Tony Adams and Arsene Wenger again)

    3. Sunderland - Dave Jones (via Roy Keane, me, Tony Mowbray and Hugo Sanchez)

    4. Liverpool - Ronald Koeman (via Rafa Benitez and Marcello Lippi)

    5. Man Utd - Marcelino, who's just been appointed. They've been god-awful since Ferguson retired (via Alex Ferguson, Ottmar Hitzfield, Michael Laudrup, Henk Ten Cate, Harry Redknapp and Paul Le Guen)

    6. Newcastle - Stuart Pearce (via Sam Allardyce, Felix Magath and Marcelino)

    7. Leicester - Steve Cotterill (via Gary Megson and Steve Clarke)

    8. Aston Villa - Thomas Schaaf (via Martin O'Neill, Michael Laudrup and Felix Magath)

    9. Tottenham - newly-appointed Tony Mowbrary (via Martin Jol, Harry Redknapp and Marcelino)

    10. Portsmouth - Ertugrul Salgam (via Harry Redknapp and Gareth Southgate)

    11. Norwich - Hugo Sanchez (via Peter Grant)

    12. Fulham - Sam Allardyce (via Lawrie Sanchez)

    13. Sheff Utd - Steve Tilson (via Bryan Robson and Iain Dowie)

    14. Everton - Neale Cooper (via David Moyes, Mark Hughes, Steve Coppell and Alan Curbishley)

    15. West Ham - Steve Coppell (via Alan Curbishley)

    16. Blackburn - Mike Newell (via Mark Hughes)

    17. West Brom - Alan Curbishley (via Tony Mowbray and Mark Venus)

    18. Reading - Adrian Boothroyd (via Steve Coppell)

    19. Man City - newly-appointed Steve Staunton (via Sven-Goran Eriksson, Ronald Nilsson and Tony Mowbray)

    20. Nottingham Forest - Mark Robins (via Colin Calderwood, Nigel Clough and me)

  3. I guess this is the place for this. I just ordered six TV boxsets:

The Complete West Wing (it's only 50 quid on Amazon; get it now)

    The Complete Fawlty Towers

    Family Guys Seasons 1-5

The Complete Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister

    Peep Show Season 1-5

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

  4. Oh, I forgot about "Waiting On A Sunny Day" by Bruce Springsteen.

The studio version is much better than the live versions, but still:

At about 4 minutes in, that must be the greatest feeling in the world.

You know, except for a rimjob from a Cambodian midget >_>

  5. Might as well update my progress.

I started a new game (unemployed of course), all British and Irish leagues active, and the top leagues from each country in the game active.

Got a job with Queens University Belfast (Northern Irish third-tier side), part-timers, on 7/7/07. Did alright in my first season, didn't win anything and finished in third place, three points off of promotion. My team was already full of Europeans from Slovenia, Poland and Romania, and I brought in a bunch of great players for literally nothing.

We had a terrible start in the league, kept losing the lead/match in the last five minutes and things like that, but we were going great in the cup competitions.

We won the league on the last day of the season to finally go top, we won the Irish Cup from the third tier(!) to go into Europe by beating top tier Cliftonville and Institute on the way, we won the lower League Cup (second and third-tier teams only) by beating second-tier Larne, and we won the County Antrim Shield beating Larne, Cliftonville, H&W Welders (second-tier) and eventual Irish Premiership champions Linfield (4-1!!!).

So yeah. Best game I've had in a long time. Usually I struggle, grow bored and move on, but I am raping the entire Northern Irish league system with a bunch of European part-timers.

Ironically, I lost to non-league opposition in the Intermediate Cup (second-tier and down) and Steel Cup (second-tier and down, and top-tier reserves as well).

I've now shot to 'National' fame. I'll be jumping club soon, as while I've been doing a great job, the board have given me no funding at all. They have slowly watched the finances decline and now they sit at £150,000 in debt. I've kept to the wage budget (just over £2,000 p/w) and spent literally nothing on transfers other than clauses like 50% of next sale. The only money coming into the club is players I sell for way more than their worth.

Fuck the board! I should be able to buy the club in the game. (¬_¬)

    Overall Stats:

Time at QUB: 705 days/2 years

    Games Won: 51

    Games Drawn: 13

    Games Lost: 20

    Goals Scored: 207

    Goals Conceded: 122

    Goal Difference: 85

    Value of players bought: £3k

    Value of players sold: £55k

To top it all off, Rangers won the UEFA Cup in the game and I attended it as well. :D

The N.Irish leagues are always fun to play in. I had a game in 07 where I took over Oxford Utd Stars when they were promoted into the second tier, and won the league three years in a row. That's right, Premier League Champions (H)

  6. I finally got it delivered, but it was in 37 parts. Managed to piece it back together, and played it this morning.

I'm up to the tribal stage, which is nowhere near as fun as the early stages, but it's a decent game. I'll probably only play it through once, but it's a fun way to put in a couple of hours.

  7. Two writers from the US version of The Office have been recruited to write a third instalment of Ghostbusters, according to trade newspaper Variety.

Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky's hiring is seen as a sure sign the long-mooted comedy will finally be made.

Ghostbusters and its 1989 sequel saw Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis as bumbling scientists who rid New York of paranormal threats.

It is hoped the new film will reunite the original cast.

Columbia Pictures has declined to comment on whether a third Ghostbusters was in development, Variety reported.

    Computer game

But director John Landis, who worked with Aykroyd on The Blues Brothers and Trading Places, has said the film would definitely be made.

"I'm not involved but I know it's happening," he told the BBC News website at the Venice Film Festival.

Eisenberg and Stupnitsky recently collaborated with Ramis on the script for his new film Year One.

Last year the original Ghostbusters cast signed up to lend their faces and voices to a computer game based on the hit film series.

The game's storyline was being written by stars Aykroyd (Ray Stantz) and Harold Ramis (Egon Spengler), who also scripted the first two films.

But the game's future was thrown into doubt when publisher Activision announced it would not be releasing the finished product.

Developers Vivendi insisted the game had not been cancelled, and that it would be published by another company.

That would actually be the greatest thing ever.

  8. Anybody got any thoughts on Gotham by Gaslight or any of the Batman & Dracula books? Hell, any Elseworld titles worth pimping in general, with or without Batman? I've read Batman: Nosferatu, which is beautifully drawn but not an especially great story. I'm looking to try more.

And, since I'm doing nothing but making idle requests, here's a random observation. I checked out DC's Space Ghost origin story a few days ago. As a fan of Space Ghost: Coast to Coast and Cartoon Network's syndication of the original series, I wanted to like it so much. Wound up being one of the dullest things I've ever read. In the unlikely event anybody's interested in checking these out, if only for their gimmick, don't. <_<

Gotham By Gaslight is decent, but nothing out of the ordinary. You can see the ending coming a mile away.
