  1. Hopefully they'll actually play test this one before they release it too :shifty:

Eh, there are always going to be bugs in releases of this size and scale.

Yeah but there's bugs - and then there's Bethesda Bugs.
  2. Are there any more blacksmiths in Velen? The only one I have on the map doesn't have an option to speak to him. I even went back to White Orchard but the one there is too low a level to craft this Griffin school Witcher gear.

Lots of armourers but no blacksmiths.

  3. it's weird that you say it was the start of the "shit slope" of FFXIII and then praise its gameplay. Changing the gameplay was what made FF worse for me, the rest was just window dressing.

I don't think it's weird at all. I enjoyed the battle system and think overall X-2 is well worth playing. However there are other aspects of the game which I didn't like and would become more prevalent as the series went on. I'd say it was more weird to dismiss the presentation and storytelling flaws as "just window dressing".

I also really liked 12. It's the only one since X that I'd consider a day one purchase looking back with hindsight. Great atmosphere and characters and I thought the battle system was decent, if a little uninvolving at times. The gambit system was okay and easy to get to grips with, but I couldn't be bothered with setting anything up overly complicated.

  4. I really like how varied these missions are. I put in a solid 2/3 hours last night and didn't have to fight anything. Whereas I've had sessions that have been one long dungeon. Or spent a while completing a treasure hunt then crafting the armor/weapon.

I don't know, it's just interesting that I'm sitting with the intention of 'right I'm going to sit and complete this contract/beat this mission' etc rather than the usual 'I'm going to play this and do aimless stuff'.

  5. I don't think I've had any problems. Geralt always seems to pick the right one and sheath it as soon as combat is over.

I thought I'd take an hour before going to bed to do the next mission on my list (Family Matters). Nearly three hours later and it still isn't over.

  6. I had that feeling for a moment, also after leaving White Orchard. I'd recommend just ploughing through the story till you're about level 7. Since then I've been picking up quests organically and have a lot of side stuff to do either at or below my level.

  7. I think so maybe test it by checking your inventory, meditating then seeing if they've decreased?

I really like only doing them once. Means I'll actually look at making everything rather than worry about having a ton of health potions.

  8. I still have no idea which items I need to keep hold of for alchemy really, I suppose I'll sell anything that's not used for Swallow or Thunderbolt as they're the only ones I really use.

Don't you only need to alchemise them once? Then meditation restocks them using alcohol?

  9. Man, fall damage in this game is ridiculous. Can slay a griffin, chase off bandits and put ghosts to rest - but a 4 foot fall takes half Geralt's life? Wouldn't be THAT annoying except I'm playing on the second hardest difficulty and health is harder to come by. Not to mention when there's a drop just before a boss fight with no other way around.

That said, completed the first true 'dungeon' today...

the one with Keira and the Wild Hunt

...and it was really cool. I also found two Level 6 swords which blow the Lv2 Serpentine Witcher gear I was currently using out of the water. Now I just need to sell everything in my inventory to repair them...

EDIT - Also, does anyone know if you get access to storage? I feel like I shouldn't sell my Witcher gear, but it's beginning to take up a sizable chunk of my inventory space.

  10. Yeah definitely.

To be honest, part of it to me is self-pity. There's a couple of multiplayer games I'd like to play that my friends are interested in too, but refuse to buy. For example Helldivers has dropped to about a tenner in the store, and I think it'd be a pretty neat co-op experience, but I'm having to wait till it either drops to a fiver or goes on for free in a years time.

  11. This launches on consoles on June 9th. I don't expect there to be many, but anyone on here picking it up now they've dropped the subscription fee?

I pre-ordered mine today from GAME. Traded in Battlefield 4 and FIFA 15 towards it and got over £30, which combined with the £10 gift card I already had and the £5 pre-order fee, means I need to take in like £1.07 on the day. Had to settle for the GAME edition with bonus crowns when I really wanted the Imperial Edition but they were sold out. Hopefully the explorers pack will be in the store so I can upgrade as I think getting a horse for transport early on will be huge - not to mention the plus of being able to play any race in any faction.

I've been looking for a solid console MMO for a while. I thought FFXIV might be it, but that became way too hardcore very quickly. To the point that it was almost hostile for someone like me who's relatively new to the genre. I was a lot better at Destiny, but that was riddled with issues. People I know who've had the PC version of this have said it's really come on since the initial launch and a large amount of the game can be played solo, which will be neat. I also like the idea of being able to learn bits of everything and not sticking to those tired Tank/DPS/Healer cliche roles.

So yeah, anyone likely to pick this up? I'll probably have to join a guild at some point, but might be cool to get a few of us together too to play some of the content that requires 4+ players.

  12. I had it, played it to death and traded it in because I wasn't prepared to pay potentially hundreds of pounds for the DLC, a lot of which should have been on the disc at launch.

For all that's wrong with it though, the gunplay and PvP was tight enough to tempt me back in if a cheap enough bundle turned up.

  13. I got this the other day, played a bit but I feel like I'm just not playing it properly if that makes sense? Like, I just fight by mashing square and triangle, don't use any of the magic stuff or whatever, dunno what I'm doing with alchemy, barely know what I'm doing with most of it even though I still enjoy what I've played so far.

    Put the difficulty up?

I had that problem with 2. Putting it on the hardest setting not only helps towards the platinum, but forces you to use all your resources.
