  1. Playing as the Blue Jays. In the middle of September, up 4.5 games on the Yankees for the AL East. Playing the Rays.

I am winning 3-2 in the bottom of the 8th. Bring in Romano who gives up a double. Get 2 outs. Give up what looks like a home run but it looks potentially catchable. Miss it but I think it's gone. Runner of 2nd scores and by the time I realize the ball is in play, Meadows is running around 3rd base. Inside the park home run because I just gave up on the ball. <_<

Wahey! Which one was it? I've got ten on the boil at the moment.

I do offer a free session zero if ever you're keen to jump in and test the waters. My Aussie group is generally pretty cool: married couple and a laid back Queenslander make up half of my evening slots. They're playing in my Rime of the Frostmaiden and Ghosts of Saltmarsh, with two of them also being in our podcast. Two of them are even playing in my upcoming Pathfinder game as well.

If ever you're keen to just jump into our Discord and have a chat, I reckon you'd find it a pretty good group :)

How are you liking it? My group just opted to call it quits after their third or fourth TPK. It's a fantastically atmospheric module, but it really fell apart with the group constantly getting themselves killed doing reckless/stupid stuff.

We're rebooting next week in a Ghosts of Saltmarsh campaign that promises to be a lot less brooding and lethal.

We are two sessions in. I don't imagine they will be the type to do too much stupid stuff. The biggest obstacle will be if they run away when they are in a losing fight.

We did Death House, which was very fun. They really digged the creepy haunted house vibes and I think all of the dark storyline stuff worked pretty well too.

  3. At 2pm ET/7pm BT, I will be on twitch.tv/sabotagethedm playing in their first ever Total Party Knockout game. Four Level 20s will take on a big boss, this time it's a Demogorgon. Come watch or check it out on demand later!

  4. A few weeks ago, I had a pretty wild event as well.

Our party is searching an area. We get near a cave and sneak in. We overhear this guy with a red dragon's head & human body talking to his minions. We scatter out before they start to leave and all hide in the swampy area outside. But this is a dragon, just in another form. He transforms back and comes out. He's hunting us down. He catches the scent of one of us hiding. I'm close by so I stand up.

The dragon asks me what I'm doing here. I tell him, honestly. He replies, "then you know too much" and begins to breathe fire against me.

I had been holding a Scroll of Last Resort, something I had found in a temple in a previous campaign. The DM asks me what I want to do with it. I tell him I want to send all the fire energy back at the dragon, and kill him in the process. The dragon dies, I stand in a charred space, totally fine. The dragon lies dead in front of us.

Jarrod rolled the damage of the dragon's breath, which would have insta-killed me (all my HP, plus more than my total HP). The way the scroll worked is that it would do what I said if I was literally at my last resort. Otherwise, it would have burned up and disappeared. If I had said "I send all the energy back at the dragon," it wouldn't have even killed the dragon. It just would have done like 90 damage to him and he'd still be alive.

  5. Spoilering my thoughts but wow, Mare hit a lot closer to home than I thought it would.

    Spoiler

My family has dealt with mental health, suicide attempts, drug addiction and a child who committed a crime, so like.... fuck, that was a tough finale. Really powerful stuff.

I agree. The system and society put her in a situation where there couldn't be justice, not Bella.

That first fake out with them killing the rapist actually had me for a minute.

    Spoiler

Yeah, same. I thought it might be setting up a second season with them having murdered the guy, so I was glad that it ended up being a fake out.

Y'all ever have a player contract lycantropy? If so, what have you done to make it cool and exciting?

One of my players just caught it. Curious what to do stats wise, as with a lot of things in 5e, it seems to be up to the DM's discretion.

We've had two people get it in our Westmarches game, mostly due to our lead DM putting them in that situation.

There's some good stuff here that can help add some stats to what creature they become.

If anyone's on a budget and wants to try and get into streaming, this kit is on sale at GameStop. Comes with a cam, a mic, and a LED light. $60, normal price is $100. I think the deal may only qualify for US customers/USD. But still, it seems like it's a pretty decent entry-level kit. I'm half-tempted to get it just because I want the LED light <_<

I added this to the front page, but so I'm correct, that's not your Twitch handle, yes? I put in the first post that they are a friend and that you play D&D on Tuesday nights.

It's not my channel, it's my friend Filly's and I play in his Tuesday night stream.

I've heard the name Westmarches, but all I know about it is that it has like... a million players. What is it?

I've never played in a West Marches campaign, but my understanding is that it's a campaign driven by the players as opposed to the DM. Matt Colville has a video on it that makes it sound super interesting, and I've wanted to five it a try for a while. Basically the idea is that the DM lays out the immediate area and some available places to explore/quests to fulfill, and the players get together into groups and decide which one they're going after. So instead of the DM prepping an adventure, they prep quest hooks and then only prep the actual quests that the players decide to follow

Yeah, sorry for the delay on this. I think our game is sort of like what punkrock laid out, but it is still very DM focused.

It was the best way to make it work for our community. There are several DMs and we have roughly 50 players. When a DM can run a game, they open the sign-ups and take a group of the players. The sessions pretty much always end up back in the main city and wrap up fairly neatly (with some threads or stuff to build future sessions) so that any combination of players can do the next session and everyone is back in the city.

I actually think it could work well here. If we set up a discord, everyone had characters and when a DM wanted to run a session, they post sign-ups and the available players head out for a game.
