Two episodes in on Only Murders in the Building, it's good stuff. Feels like a really strong year for half-hour comedies on cable/streaming services, my top 15 is probably gonna be dominated by stuff like that. And I just remembered that The Great is back in a month or so so the hits are gonna keep on coming.

I was just saying that. Even just of the stuff that is airing right now, I'm watching The Other Two, Ted Lasso, What We Do In The Shadows and Brooklyn 99.

I've been thinking of running a West Marches game for a while, but I heard a different explanation for it, so maybe I'm thinking of a different style of game. What would play by post entail?

We would set up a discord and get some dice bots in there. We then play D&D but all through text. Here is an example.

I've never been into pbp. But if interest stays, I could give it a go.

    What is Westmarches?

Pretty much as I explained above. There are multiple DMs. When one of them can run a game, they post a sign up and take a group on an adventure. So you end up playing with different people rather than one standard party.

  4. Would folks here be interested in one of the following:

    • a Westmarches game (a few of us who would want to DM would open sign-ups when we are available to run a game and folks would sign their characters up to play)
    • or a full play-by-post style, run through a discord

What do you like about it? Easy to use? I'm worried because I mostly like running official content, and I think I would have to bring over the maps and make every token/place them, correct?

The interface is much better than Roll20, in my opinion. Yes, you'd have to transfer everything but there is a converter to take your Roll20 stuff and upload it into Foundry. I was able to do that with my friend's Strahd official Roll20 campaign.

Let me know if you want to play around with Foundry and I can either give you my login or give you mod powers in a custom game.

I've done that, doesn't always work (for me anyways). I managed to get it to work on one of the smaller maps for Lost Mines, but not on bigger maps. I think I am jut gonna have to accept it's not going to be perfect.

I've also been flirting with the idea of trying Foundry VTT, just because of some of the cool stuff you can do on it.

    I really love Foundry.

You're all smart and attractive.... how the fuck do you get map grids on Roll20 lined up just right?\

I swear, it's impossible. I download a map from D&D Beyond, upload it, align to grid, and I go around trying to get it just right... but every time I get the squares just perfect where I'm looking, it's messed up elsewhere. No amount of re-sizing fixes it.

I woke up this morning to a gasp from my wife, which doesn't happen often.

She's American and I've been introducing her to British comedy over the course of our marriage. Her two favourites are Sean Lock and Bob Mortimer, so she has great taste in comedy, if not husbands.

Sean was such a unique comedian; world-weary and yet full of wonder in his own way all at the same time.

Carrot in a box is a clip I go back to time and time again when I need a laugh.

This is one of my all time favourite panel show bits.

I am incredibly sad about this.

I was on vacation and away from my computer when you did this - how did it go?

Incredible. We raised more than $6,600 for various charities. Additionally, Filly got about 2.7K views on his stream, which for someone trying to make a living in D&D streaming, I'm so happy for him.

Storyline wise, it was amazing. We kicked off the assault with a distraction attempt so that the next two sessions could get in and free prisoners.

I ran Session #3. They stormed a gate but were attacked by skeletons and a revenant on a warhorse skeleton. They made it in. After solving a puzzle to open the prisoner room, they were met by a Red Wizard who took one of the NPC leaders hostage, leaving a wraith to kill as many prisoners and players as possible, while also raising some specters in the process. They survived and made it out.

In the session I played in (#6), we had to go retrieve explosives that had been stolen so we could blow up a part of the wall. We fought off some guards, a captain and a minotaur skeleton and returned, only to get hit by a Flaming Skull who threw a fireball at us. I was the only one in our group of 4 not to go down and I had 3HP left. I fed a healing potion to an ally, who then healed the other two. We destroyed the skull, then the wall and ran off.

The three sessions were all pretty epic. They fought a bunch of red wizards, a Glazebru, a Death Knight, a Hellhound and a bunch of other stuff. It was all incredible. Only one character died, but they were revived by a cleric using Matt Mercer's resurrection rules.

Has New Zealand season 2 started, and if so how many episodes have aired? I want to watch it in one go (well, ten successive dinner-times).

It has. 4 episodes out, I believe. It has been really great. It's a wonderful cast.

I've heard this is a good return for the twins, know anything @Mx. Canadian Destroyer ?

Yeah, lots of Jays fans think this was an overpay but I see it as a good return for a guy with another year of control at a decent price.

Martin looks great, though not a ton of power so far. His defense might need some work but he'll be fine. He was pretty much blocked at any position in the Jays system.

Woods-Richardson seemed on the verge of a breakout. Lots of talk that he'd be coming up this year. Great arm with good stuff.

So I had just assumed that the rules around the qualifying offer were that a guy couldn't be given it during consecutive years.  I had no idea the actual rule right now is that a player can only be given it once in their entire career.

So the Nats can't make Scherzer a QO because the Tigers already did it in 2014.  So they will receive nothing if/when he walks.  Suddenly makes him getting dealt look a lot more likely if they really are waving the white flag.

Mets Twitter are gushing about the possibility of getting him but I can't see it.  The asking price is probably higher for the Mets than any other team asking about him.  In theory it shouldn't matter where you send an expiring deal if you're punting but sending a Hall of Famer to a division rival, giving them the scariest 1-2 punch in the game with a great shot at winning a title makes for bad optics.  I think there's a good chance he'll be somewhere else come Friday evening but it won't be Queens.

I'm not sure I want to see the price tag if the Jays land him but I think I'd get over it seeing Scherzer play as a Blue Jay.

I wonder what it would take to get Scherzer, Daniel Hudson and one of Escobar or Harrison.

  13. Playing as the Blue Jays. In the middle of September, up 4.5 games on the Yankees for the AL East. Playing the Rays.

I am winning 3-2 in the bottom of the 8th. Bring in Romano who gives up a double. Get 2 outs. Give up what looks like a home run but it looks potentially catchable. Miss it but I think it's gone. Runner of 2nd scores and by the time I realize the ball is in play, Meadows is running around 3rd base. Inside the park home run because I just gave up on the ball. <_<
