  1. Oooooh, a spectral force is fucking around with your gaaaaaame...

... exactly how will that bring you harm in real life that would cause you to freak out? Besides, the generated biomes in the game are going to wind up looking human made over time.

Also, Sousa: I'd be keeping the wool away from the flames of course. The only reason it ignited before was because the wood led into it, and that one stray wood block was a little too close to the fireplace.

  2. Rebuilding my house sucks. The bricks didn't burn down thankfully (I swore for a moment I saw some falling) but I got stuck in the initial inferno and it burnt up everything else I had when I died. All the wood structure I built burnt away... now I'm deciding to change the look of the house and go with tile floors instead of wood floors. Keeping wood in some areas but anything near the fireplace I'm making sure won't be in a spot to ignite.

It sucks how it happened, too. I'd been building it all with safety in mind and while I was finishing up the roof on the outside I accidentally placed one too close to where I was going to put the fireplace, not seeing the fireplace itself. I go back in later, ignite the fireplace, start putting up my glass barrier and... shit starts catching on fire. I panicked, tried to put it out before it could spread, but the damage was done and I wound up getting caught in it. Like I said, it sucked.

On the plus side I'm starting to like the new look I'm going with a bit more though. Thinking about doing a stone-and-brick look for the interior with colored wool and wood floorings spread for different areas throughout.

  3. See, I haven't even started a farm yet or anything. Well I guess that's not entirely true-- I started a tree farm at the bottom of my mine, probably going to expand it more over time. I've started a branch mining project down there too. I've also got a lot of pumpkin and cacti but I've not used any yet, trying to decide how I'd want to.

  4. Fuck beds in the wild.

I conquered my first dungeon. Just shy of 100 moss stone. 2 saddles. A fucking music disc. I had just shy of the amount of clay I needed to finish a section of my house with. Plenty of iron ore and plenty of coal to last. Was ready to turn around and make the journey home when I realized the sun was setting, so I set up a little camp for the night. Now, I make sure to keep it nice and well lit, cover myself up well, and I figure, hey, I have some wool and wood... why not rush the night, make myself a bed, clear the area in the morning and get going faster?

I forgot the chance of a skeleton spawning next to you while you sleep was in the air when you use the bed. This mother-fucker wakes me up, gives me next to no time to defend myself, kills me in my shelter, and fucking headbangs on my death screen. Worst part? I was waaaaaay too far from my spawn point, let alone my base, to even hope to have a chance of getting back before the items disappeared.

Long story short: I fucking hate the skeleton bed glitch shit.

I'll have to find more clay somewhere-- that was my original intent in the journey anyway. Soon as I'm done with my base and everything I'll upload the save, I'd love to know what you guys think of what I've got done. Pretty proud of it actually... I'm not all that into the electronics portion of Minecraft (Redstone wires, switches, etc.), I seem to prefer the more basic, simple things for transport and construction. Haven't even made a rail system yet, I mostly just use steps and ladders to get around when I'm not boating. Still, despite the simplicity of the things I've made, I like them. Island base with my mine, two docks and a two-story brick house, plus a lighthouse that stretches up to the top of the map and, thanks to all the flaming Netherack and torches, has a rave effect going on when you approach it. But yeah, sofar as I'm concerned, not bad for a casual player (I hope).

  5. New DLC coming soon for Brotherhood... the "Da Vinci Disappearance" is its title. Quite excited about this, will of course be getting it soon, and inevitably it will be-- once I've finished it-- what gets me back into the multiplayer for this thing. Other games have been stealing my attention for far too long.

  6. I dunno, I personally like the bits with Desmond and crew just as much as the bits with the assassins. The story is great and I love the flow of it, plus after playing AC2 and all, it was just nice to see them actually going into the places that were so familiar from the last game, but in their time. There were actually points in the game where I missed seeing the bits outside of the Animus actually.

Guess I'm just a sucker for these games though. I've loved each one since the first so yeah.

  7. Your spawn was on a decent sized island? Mine was on a peninsula that-- after traveling to the edge of it-- I terraformed into an island... definitely preferable to have a little island foothold to say the least!

Right now I'm debating what to do with it though. I have my wooden house with red wool carpeting right outside my mine and lookout tower, but I've been debating converting the whole island into a giant fortress and just opening up the underground mine to fill the island/fortress itself. Tough call at the moment because doing that's gonna mean taking out my house, and I love my pimp red carpet.

  8. Pretty much. Not sure why EB Games is taking them since they're a GameStop owned property, yet we can't accept them at GameStop... weird decision to say the least. Gamestation taking them is no surprise though. Play N Trade probably does too.

Not entirely certain why we don't to be honest.

EDIT: Wait, you said EA Games. Disregard my EB Games comment then :P

  9. Bad news dragsy: GameStop doesn't take DC for trade-in. Already checked myself since I was curious to see if we would, what with the subscriptions and all. Turns out we don't even have a SKU for preowned copies of DC Universe. Looks like you're stuck with it man.

  10. We've started allowing preorders at GameStop ourselves. No official price yet, but there's a tentative price of $300. Doubtful that that'll be the final price but, well, if you go down to GameStop and preorder it that's the most you can put down right now.

Kind-of makes sense and all, as that's the same price as the PS3, but even still... Sony's packing a lot into this thing, I can't help but doubt $300 is where it'll stay.

  11. I have a fucking monumental mine project going right now. Like, entirely monumental.

I've found diamonds. Limitless redstone. Gold ore. Iron ore. I dug and dug and dug and finally hit bedrock after what felt like forever but damn do I have a good setup. Basement level is made of Cobblestone covering bedrock from exposure, I have a large chest, furnace and workbench all side-by-side. Dug deep and wide to keep the mine open and simple to navigate. Made a tunnel leading down to it with a ladder to prevent fall damage from occurring, then made sure to keep the tunnel constricted enough so that I could catch myself easy if I overshoot the ladder, but still far enough apart to light the tunnel with torches.

Right now I'm debating how to expand the mine now that I've hit bedrock. Can't go any deeper, and in some parts of the bottom the bedrock is on the sides as well. I'm thinking about broadening the entrance to the mine and then making multiple floors of glass or something. Still debating.

Oh! I made a front door, which has done wonders for me thus far. A lot better than having a wall of glass to look out of at night anyway. Torches everywhere, and I've also begun farming trees on the surface behind the mine entrance. Best part is the area my mine is in is between a large forest, a beach, and a giant mountain, so everything I need is right outside to pick from. Lots of animals and squid around too-- the waters are shallow enough that i can actually attack them. This is easily the best world I've found for making an underground fortress yet. Haven't seen hide nor hair of a creeper or anything else for days.

  12. You and me both ED. I made a massive freaking home into the side of a hill and starting digging. Found random spots of coal and iron ore, made roughly 100 torches for myself, outfitted the whole cave and really got it looking nice. Had way too much Cobblestone so I made this huge ass hole to start throwing garbage into, and lo and behold, I forget to put a decent barrier between me and the hole. Went to toss in trash later and forgot how close I built the entrance to the hole, wound up falling to my death.

Found my way back home (built a giant beacon for myself) but, sadly, with all my stuff gone, I'll have to get back to mining for more stuff. Sucks that I lost all those torches, but my home is well outfitted with them so at least I can make a safe refuge there and go out during the day to mine the mountain next to it. It's been fun so far, definitely can see how it's so addicting for everyone.

  13. Yeah, to clarify for me as well, I'm thrilled with the casting, just not entirely sold on the choice of villains. I wanted to see Hathaway casted in this flick, but I never thought it was going to be as Catwoman. I'm certain she can do it and do it well (at the very least far better than her two major predecessors), it's just that, as others have said... she's not exactly the most exciting of characters. Bane is great. I'm loving Bane, because it means we finally get to see him done right hopefully, rather than, well... what he was done as before. I liked his portrayal in Batman: Arkham Asylum as well and all, but I think seeing a darker, more realistic Bane is going to be much more of a thrill.

It's just Catwoman really. Hathaway can pull of any of the Batman female villains/major Batman female allies, but Catwoman wasn't one of the ones I was hoping to see. Still a step above Ivy, though.

  14. Alright so I'm playing now and I can't figure out how to make a pickaxe. I mean I get that you combine sticks with certain blocks but damn it, I can't find sticks and/or know how to make them or a workbench. I've googled it, but every time I start off in a new biome I can't find the materials I need.

I hate it when I get a new game and can't immediately bypass the first stages of newbism... makes me feel like a dumbass. Of course once I get really into this thing I'm going to adore it but still. I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO STOP PUNCHING THINGS!

  15. Yeah, IMDB and multiple other sites have confirmed this.

I've mixed feelings. Very, very many mixed feelings. Glad Hathaway is in it, upset that she'd be cast as Catwoman of all people, and then thrilled that we finally get to see Bane's redemption on the big screen considering how horribly he was butchered last time. Maybe Hathaway can redeem Catwoman too, I don't know, but at this point I have to admit that I'm very confused as to where this next movie will wind up going. They had a lot of options and these two being who they went with for villains is rather out of left-field to say the least.

  16. Intenting to make it like that will be no excuse if the game turns out to be shit. Nevertheless, I'm interested enough to give it a go. I can imagine it having a very little replay value. As is ever the case with these games.

I'm not saying that this game will be immune from being shit just because it's a throwback to the classic arcade game. I'm saying though that for people complaining that it's over-the-top and cartoonish, they obviously don't know why the hell it's over-the-top and cartoonish. It's like someone complaining that the New Super Mario Bros. for the Wii was too restricting because it was side-scrolling only without free-roaming like Galaxy. There's a reason it's being made that way, and while there's no guarantee that it'll be good, at the very least people need to realize why it's being made this way rather than just blindly calling it a lame step-down from SD vs. RAW.

Again, it could be shit. It could be shit on wheels. But the reason for how it's being made is different from how it'll actually play.

Speaking of how it'll play, I can't help but wonder how the arcade stick for the game is going to feel to be honest. Don't know if I'd be willing to invest in one of those, but I'm definitely interested in seeing it.

  17. You people have converted me to the dark side. Just downloaded a copy for Mac, planning to purchase the full version soon as I can. This game has been everywhere lately and I've been getting more and more interested in it, so chances are I'll be mining away soon enough.

  18. If you're complaining about it being OTT then you can just get out :shifty:

If they were trying to sell this as anything else, then the sentiments would be justified. If they were trying to do with this what they did with Legends, it would be ridiculous and stupid. But this is them trying to reimagine and capture the magic of those old WWF arcade games into today and damn it, it looks lovely. Apparently there's even going to be an Arcade Stick for it and everything-- at least, according to our reserve list at GameStop. Had a customer ask about this yesterday actually, so yeah, if you were questioning whether or not this was really what they were trying to do... it is.

  19. Yeah, I'm hating having to wait so long. It sucks :(

I suppose having it near the end of the year though is better for them with their standing on television or something-- keeps them fresh in people's heads at the end of the year or something. I don't know. I just don't like it.

  20. Full Seasons 1 and 2, Season 3 won't be up 'til November. Though I'm fairly surprised that with the show not taking off immediately for you, it was Episode 3 that did the trick. Granted I liked the episode and all, it's just I wouldn't expect that one to be the episode that won someone over to the show. But hey, regardless, welcome aboard the Misfits love train (Y)
