  1. Huh. I'm gonna have to check and see how it works out with other people (since I didn't really pay attention to Triple H after I finished the match), but it looks like CM Punk has a unique victory animation if he wins on Defeat the Streak. Then again, I haven't played Punk as often in this game, so for all I know I just got his usual win animation.

  2. I beat Taker tonight as Triple H. The first time, I tried doing it like an actual match, and lost. The second time, I decided to go bullshit and used a sledgehammer as if it were punching. I essentially beat on 'Taker for seven straight minutes, stopping only to button-mash my way out of two straight flash Hell's Gates, through his "I just got hit with a finisher, now I'm gonna warp behind you" bullshit Tombstone, and to hit 'Taker with spinebusters and Pedigrees. It took five of 'em.

  3. Defeat the Streak Undertaker is more along the lines of what I was expecting three years ago when the developers were hyping up the "vs. Undertaker" Road to WrestleMania storyline for SvR2011. Rage-inducingly hard to beat, but when you do, it's likely the greatest feeling you can experience through the game. I was able to do it - after several attempts using guys like Ryback and Cesaro - with Daniel Bryan. I even got to be a little arrogant about it, because I beat him with the big knee, with a wake-up taunt and everything.

  4. As someone who never played 13 is there enough of a jump from 12 to 14 in terms of gameplay and content to justify a full (or near-full) price purchase?

Well, I paid $15 for my copy brand-new, and it's worth at least that. Compared to '12, 2k14 is a pretty decentish jump in content (especially considering the roster available thanks to 30YoWM mode).

  5. Only people with 100 Charisma should be people who make you interested every single promo they have, I have only been watching wrestling for like 5ish years and I have seen a lot of old matches, but I can't vouch for the rock stone cold etc. But I think CM Punk John Cena and Paul Heyman should have atleast high 90's charisma each with Punk and Cena pushing for 100.

Exactly, guys like Punk, Heyman, and Cena make strong cases for 95+ charisma, but I can definitely name quite a few promos from all three men from this year alone that fell flat in a major way.

  6. I doubt this would happen but I thought I would suggest it anyway.

I was thinking maybe Bill could create a paypal if he doesn't already have one, and people donate $5 to get the update early, either he uploads the update every time someone donates and uses that for that day of donations or once a week, so people could get the update early if they wanted, and for Bill spending time constantly uploading the data he gets money too.

As I said I doubt it would happen but I think it's a decent concept.

That just institutes a needless paywall on shaky legal ground... not to mention that paywalls such as eLicense are the reason why people like Bill even still need to produce updates for EWR over a decade after its release. If someone wants to donate money to Bill, it should be as a thank you for his work on the updates rather than because there's an incentive in it for the donator. That way'd probably be a lot less murky (legally-speaking) as well.

Boy, one sure does have to read through a lot of bullshit just to find updates/stat suggestions.

Posts like yours don't make it any easier.

Anyway, I saw someone earlier suggest raising Heyman's charisma to 100. While Paul is definitely one of the best on the mic, I don't think he deserves a 100, as sometimes his promos can be a bit off just like anyone else. I think he deserves the high 90s, like a 95-97, but 100 seems a bit much.

I agree. I'd actually go so far as to suggest that nobody deserves a score of 100 in any of the visible stats (Brawl/Tech/Speed/Charisma). There's no such thing as the perfect match, nor is there such thing as the perfect mic worker, or the perfect brawler, technician, or high-flyer.

  7. How does that work?

You trade a Pokemon you own - whether it's in your party or your box - and get a random one in return. You're as likely to get a Japanese girl's Eevee as you are to get an American guy's Flabebe.

  8. I got my Abra. My team right now is Froie the Froakie, Swordchucks the Honedge, BobDolebasaur the Ivysaur, Combusken the Combusken That I Haven't Renamed Yet, Encarta the Kadabra, and Snorlax. Whom I will not rename. He shall be called Snorlax.

Did it take anyone else a dog's age to get to the second gym? I haven't gotten my fossils yet and my Mons are pushing right up against level 30, so I'm worried there may be INSURRECTION.

I think I was nearing 30 if I wasn't there already. The game as a whole takes longer to get from place to place. My Chesnaught's at L70 and I haven't even faced the Elite Four yet.

  9. Eh, it doesn't impress me much. Most of the stuff in that video is either cutscenes stolen from Story Designer (like Bryan fighting off all three Shield members before being backed into a corner) or edited to not look so iffy (Kofi double-stomping a guy through a table). Even the gameplay additions - the OMG Moment double finishers, literally every catch finisher except for Swiss Death - don't look that good.

I'm gonna be sitting this year out. Hopefully 2K will ensure that next year is actually done with some competence.

  10. Multiple endings?!? Oh man. Hope I choose the right one if I ever make it :(

You'll know what choice to make when the time comes. There are 3 choices. If you choose any of the other two options, it means you are a terrible person.

Honestly, I think the ending choices are probably the worst aspect of the game, and not even because of the choices themselves, but how you're given them. I'd rather have a series of missions that build up to one ending or the other as opposed to literally choosing between three endings on the spot.

  11. I am dreading flight school. Is it skippable?

Oh yeah, completely. All a high Flight skill really does is minimize turbulence, and even with maxed-out Flying and having completed flight school, I still had trouble with some of the parts of the heist you go to it for.

  12. Jesus fucking christ General, shut up about money already. You know why it's hard to make $150,000,000? BECAUSE IT'S FUCKING $150,000,000! I showed you an exploit to get rich quick and you scoffed at it.

Also, micro transactions are for GTA: Online, so they have no bearing in the offline mode, as there are going to be totally different ways to earn money.

Also, shut up, everyone is tired of you complaining about fake money in a video game.

Plus, an easy way to work the money system is to just leave the Assassination missions 'til you've beaten the game. You'll have absurd amounts of money with which to invest.

  13. Just finished. What a fantastic game. Was truly on the edge of my seat at the end. By the end I was emotionally invested in all three characters. Still have a few side missions left I think. As for the ending....

Really weighed up the options, but chose to kill Michael. Strategy guide helped quite a bit with making the decision. Shame he let go, I really started to reconsider my choice

    :(

Rockstar really went out on a good note on this generation of consoles and here's to GTA VI on the One and PS4. This game exceeded my already high expectations. Well worth the 5 year wait.

I didn't have the strategy guide, but I also didn't want to lose any of the characters, so I picked C/Deathwish. Nice epic capper, all things considered.

I think, like the characters do at many points, I'm gonna lay low from the game for a bit, let the clock run down on GTAO's activation and see others in my house marvel over the game like I did at parts.

  14. I am glad that someone is still further behind in the game than I am :P

Just went to Grove St. for the first time. Very nearly went on a shooting rampage but I'll save that for later. Fuck you, Ballas.

Yeah, that was so depressing. Are Franklin or Lamar part of GSF? I really hope there's a mission that sees you take back the patch.

Nah; the gang that Franklin and Lamar are in are CGF, "Chamberlain Grove Families" or something like that. They share Grove Street's affinity for green, but I think that's about where the similarities end.

  15. I genuinely thought that Angel getting all of LaGuerta's stuff in the season premiere meant he was going to stumble across something that put him on the same path that she was on.

In fact, that probably was what was meant to happen and then they just dropped it and all mention of her forever.

It's amazing that, for once, the writers have gotten me to hate a character on Dexter. It's just sad that that character had to be Batista for how willfully ignorant they've written him as being about Dexter.

  16. I'll try and knock something out, give me a few minutes.

    EDIT:

First attempt. In retrospect, maybe the black letters-on-black WCW logo isn't a good combo. Also, not entirely sure if WCW was using that logo in 99. which is when I believe your diary takes place? I need some sleep, so I think I'll try again tomorrow.

  17. Yeah, you can't really say "it doesn't look bad, look at this game from 15 years ago!" as an effective argument. Technology has progressed.

That said, I don't think that Warrior model is the finished product. It looks worse than anything in the last game.

Well, the Warrior model is a finished product, not just of 2k14. It's a slightly edited version of Warrior's model from Legends of WrestleMania.

I already know I'm definitely not getting this on release, but hopefully information released in the coming weeks will help me determine whether or not I actually want to get this at all or just wait it out until 2K's finally allowed to build their own version of the game from the bottom up.

  18. ..huh? It was on the PC before, that's how I originally played it. Now it's just optimized for todays computers. I've played it before, it runs perfectly fine.

The audio is horrible compared to the Playstation version.

Never noticed anything of the sort myself, but I know at the same time there's people out there who have done HD audio updates and such for when the community was patching the game themselves before the re-release.

Look up a program called "Anxious Heart". It replaces the audio files with your choice of the game's PSX equivalents, various official covers such as the Black Mages' version of OWA, and several fanmade covers of songs. The only song I don't think it replaces is the song that plays over the ending and possibly the credits.

  19. Finished.

It was great. The choices and everything were well done.

Playing the Russell and the stranger section, I actually came close to killing the stranger. I put the gun to him and one of the options at a point was to kill him. I didn't. I immediately regretted not selecting that choice after. I knew he was an evil man and I knew he deserved to die; the stranger went on to kill the old man in the gas station. But I didn't do it and I felt awful after I didn't. It's kind of the beauty of the game. I don't really know while playing the game if my choice ultimately mattered. Maybe the 'shoot him' choice didn't matter in the scheme of things. But it was the weight of the decision that weighed on me quite heavily. Maybe my instinct to be good got innocent people killed.

I couldn't tell when I was playing Russell's mini-campaign whether I hated Nate or if I liked him. I ended up getting forced to stay with him, I guess, after he shot the elderly couple. Not that it counts for much since Nate's nowhere to be found when Tavia shows up to recruit the five people.

RPS, if you could give me a spoilerless answer to this question I have about 400 days.

You have played it, how much of your season 1 choices did you see in 400 days? Where they a lot and did they have a big part, or where they minor/nothing?

I am wondering because I haven't got TWDs1 on my system anymore and I dont feel like playing through the main game just to play 400 days.

Well, nothing is ever explicitly shown; but you'll see the occasional reference here and there.

  20. I watched the first post-Jon Grumps episode... and while it's different, it's not different enough for me to stop watching. I'll probably have a better opinion after more than one video with the new guy, but my biggest complaint thus far is that they kept the "Hey I'm Grump / I'm Not So Grump" intro, which with the new guy felt kind of like the show was ripping itself off.
