  1. Somebody gets over?

Career mode is you have to wrestle Triple H 426 times.

And the objective in 425 of those matches will be letting Triple H get himself disqualified, counted out, or having Vince come out to stop the match

  2. Oh man, fucking Morrigan. It's carrying on from Origins! 2 remains the ugly cousin no one talks about!

Actually, I believe Varric was in the trailer, as was the chick whose interrogation of Varric made up the story of DA2. I think the figure near the end of it was Hawke, 2's main character. I'd argue that Morrigan was a surprise inclusion from Origins that made it into a 2-heavy trailer rather than BioWare disregarding 2 entirely.

  3. Arya fucking Stark.

    Best part of the episode!

    I agree!

And I thought the episode was fairly flat beyond that scene. Nothing terrible, I still enjoyed it, but not what I'd consider season finale-worthy. Like, the big bombshell was the spreading of knowledge that the viewer has known since, what? The first episode?

I think it fell victim to two major things: the first being that there was really no upping the ante following the Red Wedding without potentially messing up the order of events in the book, and the second being that this season was covering half of a book instead of a whole one.

That said, I didn't mind this episode. It set up a lot of storylines (though arguably season finales should always tie up more stories than they loosen up), so next season will hopefully kick off fucking massively.

  4. Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I figure Sony might negotiate a final season with NBC if only to definitively get Community over the line for syndication.

I feel like tonight's episode would've been a little easier to swallow if it weren't potentially the series finale. I mean, it'd still be disappointing as a season finale, but to end Community on the note it hit tonight would be terrible.

  5. So I was grinding to face the Elite Four... and I remember now why Emerald's my least favorite game in the series. Moreso than any other Pokemon game, Emerald's battles seems like they run on a checklist. If I'd taken a shot for every time I was confused - in both grind battles and actual fights against the Elite Four - I'd be dead right now from alcohol poisoning. If I had a nickel for every time a confusion I caused lasted past the turn after I caused it, I'd still be as dirt-poor as I am now.

I mean, there is a good side, in that I was able to make it to the final Pokemon of the final member of the Elite Four... but I've got absolutely no desire left to play Emerald today.

  6. I've only ever gotten two Shinies outside of the Red Gyarados. The first was a shiny Totodile that I ended up saving over when I'd forgotten just what made my Soul Silver file so special... the second was a shiny Durant in Black 1.

Also, it seems like every time I play Emerald, I find another battle that proves itself to be an exercise in frustration. This time, it was the battle against Juan. He brought out his Kingdra, and every. Goddamn. Time. I'd get damage on it, he'd use a Hyper Potion, or he'd use Rest, or he'd spam Double Team, to the point where it pretty much only went down because it ran out of PP for its own moves (a scenario which I'm 99% sure only happened because its seemingly-endless barrage of Water Pulses found themselves not-so-effective against my Water-types), paired with GeorgLopez basically one-manning the entire Gym.

It was almost laughable how much of a squash the rest of that battle was; after the Kingdra fell, all that was left was a Crawdaunt that GeorgLopez took out after two Absorbs.

  7. So three interesting developments. The first is that I beat Liza and Tate, so I've only got Juan left before I can hit the Elite Four. The second is that apparently my entire team has caught the Pokerus. I don't know what it is, only that it's extremely rare and helps boost growth. Third, and most importantly: I got a Water Stone and evolved GeorgLopez. IT'S TACO DUCK TIME!

  8. Since my last update, I've done it: my team's filled out, and best of all, I GOT A WAILMER!

I struggled a bit with Norman, but I was eventually able to work through Slaking's loafing (thanks to Merrill (and the Wailmer, eventually) being absolute beasts once their Rollouts get going). The Flying-type leader wasn't too much of a problem, again considering the whole "I've got a water mouse who can apparently turn into a rock" thing. I don't have the levels right now, but here's the line-up.

Pearl, my female Wailmer, was at least ten levels behind the rest of the team when I got her... and despite that, she's still lagging behind a bit.

GeorgLopez is still a Lombre. I forgot that he evolves with a Water Stone, not a Leaf Stone... so sadly, it's still not Taco Duck Time.

Megalodon, a Sharpedo I caught and then evolved after my last updte, qualifies for my team right now for being a Water-type, but he has no Water-type moves. I think I'll grind him up a bit since his maxed-out Crunch will be a good tool to use against Liza and Tate.

Merrill is probably unintentionally the backbone of my team.

Seagull should probably be taught some kind of more powerful Water-type move alongside Strom, considering they're both stuck in their ways with Water Gun.

Strom has evolved into a Swampert, but he hasn't really seen a lot of action recently in favor of grinding up Pearl and Megalodon.

  9. I feel really awkward because Emerald's been kind of a cakewalk thus far. My biggest challenge to date has been Brawly, and that's just because I needed two or three tries to perfect my battle plan against him. Thanks to my abusively-liberal usage of the turbo function, I've already got half the badges.

Quick note because I didn't mention it last time: my character name is Vann. It's 'water' or 'sea', IIRC, in one of the northern European languages.

Strom has since evolved into a Marshtomp. He's taken a bit of a backseat as of late, something that was made readily apparent to me in the fight against Flannery, as her Torkoal surprise-KO'ed him with an Overheat. He performed admirably before that, though; he had just finished off a female Camerupt who had Charmed him by spraying her with his muddy shooty-goo. As of my last save, he's Level 28.

GeorgLopez has since evolved into a Lombre. Although he had to pretty-much sit out the Lavaridge gym, I did manage to grind him up to around Lv. 27 in the paths to and from Fallarbor. I'm still kind of on the fence about jamming that somehow-naturally-evolved sombrero on his head sooner rather than later (mainly due to the fact that Lombre learns Hydro Pump at Lv. 49 while Ludicolo learns nothing after its evolution), but I figure that instead of giving Surf to Strom, I'll just let Strom learn Muddy Water and give Georg Surf... so now, the second I can get a Leaf Stone, it's Taco Duck Time.

Merrill the (Azu)Marill has also evolved, and is also around that same general 27ish area. Nothing much to report aside from him pretty much being my best Pokemon, type-coverage wise thus far.

Seagull the Wingull is a Pelipper now, and I can take him even less seriously than I did before. It's probably due solely to his influence that I was able to put Brawly away.

I'm thinking I'm gonna have to do a bit of grinding - and so help me God I'm gonna get one of the rods and a Wailmer before next update - but I think I might be in the clear for the time being.

  10. Okay, so Update #1: I'm on my way to Rustboro, but I've already gotten a basic team already of Water-types.

Strom, the Mudkip. He's Level 10 right now, and the only remnant of my (very) short-lived plan to name all of my Pokemon after terms associated with water.

GeorgLopez, the Lotad. Also Level 10, and the beginning of my "don't give a crap, only if they're funny" naming scheme. For those that don't recognize it, it's a Game Grumps reference.

Merrill, the Marill. Level 7 as of my save.

    Seagull, the Wingull, Level 4.

  11. Chikorita, Bellsprout, Hoppip, Paras, Oddish, and Sunkern will have to be my team...! I don't get any other grass types until way too late in the game. Oh boy...

Well, at least there's no Fire-type Gym Leader in Johto... and by the time you hit Kanto, you might be able to have gotten something capable of surviving a few hits from Blaine. I mean, you'll have to survive Falkner and Bugsy first, but they're probably nothing that a bit of grinding won't be able to breeze through.

  12. I only just Fallout 3 GOTY up the other day, but I've not played much. I had two plays, one where I blew the bomb, and one where I didn't, but it didn't really enthrall me, it seemed like Borderlands' less colourful and fun cousin. Any tips on how to make it more fun and things to do in the game?

To be fair, FO3 was released long before Borderlands, but I can see where you're coming from. Outside of modding the game, I'd just suggest exploring the Wasteland. Doing stuff like helping Moira Brown in Megaton write her Wasteland Survival Guide is a nice way to explore in the beginning of the game, plus it can get you a few bonus perks if you go out of your way to do the extra objectives.

  13. I know the names, but it's only because I read the Wiki entry for the show when I first heard about it like a month ago.

It was pretty good. I was assuming that Datak's (Curran's character) status as a villain was going to quickly be forgotten when he joined the town's resistance against the Volge, but I guess not. Based off the pilot alone, I'm willing to give it a fair shot.
