  1. I feel like it's much better to lose 8-0 than 2-1. You might be able to convince yourself that if you played the game again, it might be 2-1 your way. Tougher to sell that when the difference is 8 goals.
  2. Okay so the article is more specific, it makes thr coverup definitely systemic but puts most of the blame on the Blackhawks organization, not the league. Obvious warnings apply to people who want to read it: https://www.tsn.ca/chicago-blackhawks-alleged-sex-abuse-of-players-police-1.1656229
  3. Developing story out of Chicago that there was systemic and repeated sexual abuse of players by members of coaching/management, and that the league became aware of it and helped to cover it up by convincing one of the victims that he was asking for it and thus at fault. Fucking hell.
  4. I mean Schiefele is good, but it serves him right having to sit and suck it down after that hit. NHL should not suspend or not suspend people based on how important they are to their team, either the offender or the victim.
  5. Shouldn't have traded one to Columbus.
  6. Four games. So eight games really. Probably fair, is blindside, charging, late, and followed through with an elbow. Definitely dirty as fuck.
  7. No way do you let him play again this year. He was 100% concussed, it was plain as day from how he fell back down, it hurt to watch. Him skating is a big deal because two of the worst symptoms of post concussion syndrome are naseau and vertigo, which can lead to naseau. Some former atheletes can barely walk to the washroom without being ill, so this is huge. But the big concern now is, not how do you feel today, but how do you want to feel for the rest of your life. No way has his brain healed. The swelling has probably gone down but the affected area will absolutely be sensetive for weeks to come. If you are the Leafs, you want another couple years of JT. He takes one bad bump in the next few weeks, that goes away. Take light workouts in the gym. Breakfast with the boys. Be around the team. If you have a sore ankle and you see a dude who almost got decapitated hit the ice like that, how can you not be inspired? But for his own sake, hold the guy back. Maybe he gets a Steven Stamkos shift if they make the finals. But this Leafs team should be a playoff team for years to come. Not worth it to risk a dudes long tern health.
  8. https://streamable.com/pbug0z This is so good to see.
  9. Ruki is the worst, just ignore him, we all do. I watched the second overtime and beyond and Darnell Nurse looked sub optimal. He always seemed to be mentally exhausted at every whistle, looking around for help. He played way too many minutes for a guy who isn't really a cornerstone, franchise defensemen. Poor guy needs support. Hope Ken Holland pays his therapist well.
  10. Edmonton is built all wrong. No depth, no leadership. You really need both to make deep playoff runs, that or just have everyone on fire at the right time. Everyone in Edmonton looked cold.
  11. Perry did his damndest to leap over the guy but it's just one of those collisions where Tavares gets knocked down and into Perry's path and Perry can't react. You could tell when Perry got in a "fight" later he didn't mean it, didn't enjoy it, and felt horrible about it. Not his fault at all, just a complete fluke.
  12. Just saw the Tavares collision a few minutes ago. He'll be lucky if he ever plays again.
  13. I mean John Taveres gets a bad rep for leaving Long Island but that was an abusive relationship and he had a right to try and find happiness. I don't get why Isles fans are mad at Tavares, he didn't do anything that hasn't been done by dozens of Mets over the past decade.
  14. The situation up here is becoming hilarious. Details leaked about the Trevor Linden exit and basically he wanted to rebuild over 4-7 years and the owners wanted back in playoffs after a year or two. Owners got their wish, Linden resigned. Now the team is in quite a state. It has gotten to the point where Canucks fans are offering ins as well as cash to the marketting department in Seattle to put up billboards in Vancouver as people vow to boycot the team unless the owners sell. Oh, and we won our playoff series against Calgary. Not sure how the seeding works now and who we play in round two but it feels good to be COVID division champs!
  15. I just glanced through the discussion on the previous page, there is talk about Vancouver making a bid for The Athletics. Right now it seems like a lot of the corporate money is interested in bidding for the 2030 Olympics given how the last one worked out here, and there's even talk that Canucks might be on the market, but there's absolutely been discussion about what it might take to get the MLB here and have a second team in Canada again.
  16. Don't trust him! He's also roleplaying in space. Check your suits for puncture holes.
  17. Crazy how some pitchers fall off a cliff while others go for ages.
  18. Hockey did reinvent their sport with serious rule changes when they came out of the lockout, reworking their financial systems to force more parity and overhauling a lot of neutral zone play with things like new icing rules, removing the red line and allowing two line passes, obstruction enforcement etc. The problem being it came after a labour shortage wiped out their season, so they had to win their audience back instead of growing it.
  19. You're a bum wrist. The fiasco around the dops and hockey ops is not gonna go away. NHL made the wrong call backing Parros, but Parros isn't the problem. It is Colin Campbell. How he still has a job after openly cheating on behalf of his son is a fucking disgrace. NHL needs to scorch the earth and start from scratch. The old boys club jerking each other off over ole timey hockey eh needs to go the fuck away. There was a time when the NHL was primed to pass both the NBA and MLB and the NBA woke up, got their shit together, and put a stop to it. Now if the NHL isn't careful it will slip behind MLS and fade into sports obscurity to line up beside darts, imported snooker matches, and reruns of the little league world series. And if they don't get rid of the assholes driving the clown car off the side of the mountain than they fucking deserve it.
  20. Gross. That one was indefensible.
  21. May Ed Balls be forthwith with you.

  22. I have always thought that what happens in a game is part of the game but if you're hitting vicious dunks on a dude's family that is a step too far.
  23. Rittich had a rough night tonight, but he was hardly the only Leaf to do so. There are essentially right now two outcomes to the season from what I can see. The Canucks could go hard right to the end but just fall short, giving them a worse draft pick which would be typical mediocre Vancouver hockey. That or they actually push their way all the way to fourth, take on the Leafs, and squeak by them, which would be hilariously memetastic and very consistent with how this season has gone.
  24. I don't have a problem with game management. The NHL needs to admit that game management is the goal of officiating. To make sure that things are relatively fair and to try and make sure that things don't get out of control. I don't mind make up calls if they diffuse tension or balance out a bad call. Some of the stuff is just absurd, though. Like Auger telling Alex Burrows that "you made me look bad last game, so I'm going to make this a bad night for you". The whole debacle, where your head of officiating has a son who actively plays in the league, and then makes it to the finals. And in that finals, your penalty minutes leader is Daniel Fucking Sedin, who takes 32 minutes of penalties in 25 playoff games while he had 32 minutes in 82 regular season games... get real. This isn't even bringing up the Wheel Of Justice to determine whether someone gets a stiff fine or swiftly beheaded.
  25. This season is a fucking odd one.
