  1. I think the point is, for a referee to give a penalty he has to be either 1) 100% sure his decision is correct or 2) Rob Styles Vidic / Berbatov was just a coming together that happens week-in, week-out all over the country. Never a penalty. Brown probably did use his arm to aid him in blocking the shot, but so high is the element of doubt that Webb could not give the penalty. I'd imagine referee's had been handed a directive about penalties after last week's nonsense at Anfield. Overall though, Utd deserved the win anyway, so it's much of a muchness. You make good points. If you're not a United fan, I salute you. Finally, a non-United fan talking some sense. If you are a United fan, I still agree with you
  2. Yeah, sad to see him go. It seems they'll be giving him some sort of coaching job, which is good news.
  3. You really can't complain when one ref gives a penalty like that, and then complain when another ref doesn't. Neither were penalties. The ref in the Liverpool/Chelsea game was wrong, the ref in the United/Spurs game was right. My point exactly. Two wrongs don't make a right, as they say. Just because one penalty that shouldn't have been was given, it doesn't mean another "non penalty" if you like, should be given ....Especially when the incidents happen a week apart between two different teams. JTE said it perfectly. At Anfield a ref made a mistake, at OT a ref made the right call. I know you obviously don't mean it like it seems to be coming across, because to me it sounds like your saying because one bad decision was made, another should be made as well.
  4. Trouble is, that wasn't a penalty. And everyone who isn't a Chelsea fan, know that. Even the ones that are know it, they just probably won't be as quick to say they do. Like I say, if any should have been, then it was the Brown incident. There is no way Berbatov should have had the penalty off Vidic.
  5. Personally, I dis-agree. It was not stonewall, because cameras do not prove that it hit his arm. I thought it hit his chest, and afterwards Wes Brown came out and said that's where it hit him. To be honest, I wouldn't see any reason why he'd have to lie about it. The match is over, and United won, so no need to lie. As far as the Berbatov one goes. If you can say that Vidic fouled him, without even knowing Berbatov was around, then fair enough, penalty. Vidic's eyes were on the ball, nothing else. It wasn't as if he took one look over to see where Berb was, and then just checked the run he made, it was just a clash between the two. The only reason so much is being made about these incidents by non-United fans is the fact that you "don't get penalties at OT" - Now, there's been many in the past that haven't been given and I agree should have been, but I firmly believe Spurs shouldn't have had one yesterday. Out of the two, if any was gonna be given, the Wes Brown one would have...If you watch the Berb-Vidic incident any more than once, you'll clearly see why it's no penalty. I may get ridiculed for saying this, simply because I'm a United fan. I just hope that a non-United fan agrees with me on it.
  6. Not sure how much longer it's gonna take to get him fit. He isn't injured, so I don't know why he isn't making the 16 each week. He played in the friendly just before the season started, then we don't see him. Anyway, that said...again, another goal-less half from United. I'll be slightly worried if it stays at 0-0 or worse by the end.
  7. Well - 2-2 FT. Time for the big game now.
  8. Yeah - Why can fans use "banter" all game, aimed at the players ...That player then silences them and he gets booked. Silly.
  9. The commo did mention that, and said that the MF players seem to have pushed forward more than what they did last week. Soon see if it lasts.
  10. Don't you just love Sunday's. Boro-Newcastle now - Nice warm up to the big one later this afternoon.
  11. He is the type of guy you would let rape you rather than get him even a little angry at you. Lol, I personally would just try and run - But whichever you prefer.
  12. Yeah, things didn't quite go for him at Newcastle. S'pose you could say he didn't get Luque in front of goal
  13. Nah I know. Just couldn't resist.
  14. Yeah - As long as it doesn't clash with any court appearances, he'll be fine.
  15. Yep, t'was a good un. And I agree with Andy Gray...Torres shoulda made it 2-0 just before HT. Good save by Gordon though.
  16. From what I've seen of Kaboul, I really like him. Although I did put the jinx on him when I said he was having a good game and got took off injured against Everton I think t'was.
  17. Even still, Spurs are denying they made any offer for him, so it's still only a rumour I think.
  18. Yeah, I share the same view. If his contract had expired and United were trying to stop him joining Liverpool, then fair enough, he'd be allowed to. The fact is, if he signed a contract at United for X amount of years, he should honour it. United don't want to sell any player to Liverpool, even if it is somebody who is dis-loyal to the club. Apart from that, I think he's a great player. I'd much rather see him sign for a team abroad, like Fergie has pointed out.
  19. From sportinglife.com "Gabriel Heinze has lost his bid to force Manchester United to sell him to Liverpool. The Argentina defender had gone to a Premier League panel claiming United had written a letter allowing him to leave if another club offered a fee of £6.8million. The panel have dismissed Heinze's case and backed United, who maintained they made it clear to the 29-year-old both orally and in writing that he would not be permitted to join one of their title rivals. It now appears that if Heinze is intent on leaving the club he will have to move abroad." Good

    Bad Covers...

Gareth Gates attempting Spirit in the Sky and Unchained Melody=Shit. I'm not a fan of that type of music anyway, but I know he covered them both poorly. On the subject of A Perfect Circle's version of "Imagine", I actually like that version alot better than the original.
  21. Yeah. Me and my mate were both talking on MSN when the incident happened, and both said "penalty" the second it happened. As soon as replays were shown, it was clear that it wasn't a penalty. They're saying on various sites that Styles won't be reffing next week - Good.
  22. They were yes, and we've had numerous shocking decisions already this season.
  23. The way he got past Ben Haim reminded me of how Kaka pwn'd Heinze (I believe) at OT in the CL last season.
  24. Jens Lehmann making a mistake? Surely not
