The way I see it, Jacob's Nemesis (who was introduced in Season Five alongside with Jacob himself) infects all who dies on the island for one reason or another. That's why Christian Shepard was doing what he was doing in Season Five. He's infected Sayid too. Maybe Christian killed Claire so Jacob's Nemesis (he doesn't have a name, so I'll call him Walujacob) could infect her. Dogan said it himself in the preview for next week's episode. "He wants to infect us all." Walujacob is the bad of the island whereas Jacob is the good of the island. Now that Walujacob finally found the loophole to kill Jacob, in Ben, there is no more good in the island, thus the people who Walujacob has infected can now come out and terrorize everyone. Thus why Claire made her return and I feel Charlotte, Charlie, Faraday (my favorite character) and many more infected will start making their way back onto the show until either everyone dies and is infected or Dogan, Jack, Sawyer, Hugo, and the others win the fight. Either way, I'm liking how it's turning out and in Season Five, we now know who sent the flaming arrows at the Survivors: Dogan and his clan.
