  1. Yeah, there is just entirely too much crap out of this year's game. It's NHL 15 levels of "well, let's just add this in way later" instead of figuring the fuck out how to do it right before releasing a halfassed product. The fact that every change to 2K15 current gen seems to apply to next-gen as well is just fucking ridiculous and made me super happy that I didn't throw down on that Target deal on gift cards to get the preorder download tomorrow.

God, even when Madden 13 basically removed the entirety of its franchise mode to make connected careers, it was a removal that ultimately benefits the game long term. What does removing entrances and finishers do to benefit MyCareer? I mean, unless you want to do Angelo Dawkins Simulator 2K15, it pretty much kills the imaginative aspect of the game and proves every person skeptical about the game to be completely in the right. Shame. Guess it's back to 2K14 or some No Mercy mod or something. Shit, maybe I should play No Mercy. It at least has the stones to allow a goddamn intergender match.

  2. It was the best promotional tool for a comic book series to date, even better than Walking Dead in that aspect. I have a question, though:

I chose the most violent option for Crooked Man's death. Is there a way to not get the "Fabletown is afraid of the Big Bad Wolf" one line thing? I'd imagine so, but no matter.

  3. Apparently over 7000 Sniper Elite 3 keys were revoked by Steam, because they were being sold through unauthorized retailers. Rebellion Games has posted about it on the Steam Community website.

If you bought one of the compromised keys, you can email Rebellion with proof - the receipt, and your revoked Steam key - and they'll issue you a new key and you get the Target Hitler DLC for free.

Heard about this from a TotalBiscuit video, although the second part of the story had not happened yet (I think the original 'make good' was just the DLC). I only used an unauthorized site once, which I think was for a FM 2014 key, so admittedly that whole secondhand market is new to me, but I didn't fully agree with TB's argument that those keys are stolen property that the game company can just ignore in favor of a general lesson about the evils of unauthorized sellers. But again, that whole world is new to me and if it is really just shady folks stealing keys in a value proposition that fucks over places like Gamersgate, Greenmangaming, et al. as well as Valve and more importantly the game makers, I probably should change my tune.

  4. I have zero knowledge of cricket, but I feel like I want to play it based on the kitsch factor. With that said, how hard would it be to get into the game with zero cricket knowledge? Is there a good tutorial at least, like the one in Rugby Challenge?

  5. So I have done the giveaways, and here are the lucky people that were online and on my friends list at the time: GoGo, Sousa, RPS, Gazz, Kats, Ellis, cwbush, Lint, Colly, Benji.

    Yay!

Now to continue to go broke once noon hits.

  6. I've yet to really get into Papers, Please. My initial impressions are that it's a more depressing spot-the-difference game. Gotta give it more time, methinks.

Also, Origin news! Titanfall - all 50 GB of it - will be free-to-play this weekend, starting whenever EA feels like putting it up on their Origin Game Time

That is great except that most computers will take one of those days just to download the fucker.

Also, in honor of the giveaway contest that none of us will do, I have opted to do the second version of my $.29 Game Giveaway! It is not Super Hexagon, don't worry. It is a current $.29 game called Defy Gravity -- Extended. A lot of comparisons to Braid. Probably less polished, but certainly worth something. Also, you get cards. If you want to take part in this and I don't have you currently as a friend on Steam, send me a PM.

  7. God, I'm hoping they use the approach that makes NBA 2K's commentary so solid, and honestly, there's a lot of promise if Visual Concepts is really up for it. It might not be perfect, but maybe playing with storyline history would give it the backstory that fills most of the time in NBA 2K matchups.

  8. Has anybody been checking the GreenManGaming sales? They've been sort of a mixed bag (the 2K one a couple of days ago, though, was insane if you hadn't gotten XCOM and Civ 5), but I also saw a super low price for the Thief remake in that. Anyways, they have three more days of sales to come. Iunno what would be next.

  9. Found it kind of funny and sad that Nintendo has far more female characters in their games than basically the entire E3 floor. It's like the other console and game makers don't even give a fuck about growing their audience outside the group that mostly has already bought in to the PS4/Xbone thing.

  10. I love the concept of there being a career mode where you start at the bottom and work your way up. As iffy as WWF Attitude was, even that allowed you to start doing house shows before you made it to Heat, then RAW then pay-per view headlining. That's just a built-in system that is too good not to include. I kind of saw it coming though with the focus that 2K Sports games put on their "Be A Player" styled modes.

While I wasn't a huge fan of some aspects of NBA 2K14 - man, they knew how to make it really feel like you were the guy starting off and moving up the ladder. If they can bring that feel to a WWE game it wouldn't need much else to get me interested.

Right. I am okay with story modes, but in wrestling games, they often have that all too crushing realization that the story has to end and that is it. Whereas even if the story element is very basic, a WWE where your player character is dynamically able to win and lose for perpetuity until the player's decided end point has a lot more appeal to me personally. It's what has kept me going back to the NBA 2K games even with their massive time investment.

  11. part of this stupid thing at the moment - especially in hard rock and metal - where longevity is seen as an indicator of talent.

That's not an "at the moment" thing. That's a classic rock thing. IT'S OLD AND HAD HITS TWENTY YEARS AGO, CLASSIC RAAAAAAAAAAWK. I feel like it's been like that since the advent of radio. Yesterday's garbage top hits are tomorrow's classics, now and forever.

As long as you aren't throwing shade at Molly Hatchet, I agree.

  12. Gonna try to avoid numbering these, although I'm very tempted to. These are the movies I most like to talk about.

Alien -- I mean, as far as a horror movie about a deadly creature in a tight confinement goes, this one did it the best.

The Big Lebowski -- Watching it again in a crowd just reminds me of the pure glee I get from watching Jeff Bridges just own playing The Dude. It's got a nice pisstake of a modern Western inside its plotting, but mostly it's just the genius characterization that the Coens create that always gets me. I can't not laugh at Walter's "this is what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass" scene in terms of just how John Goodman becomes this militant weirdo.

Do The Right Thing -- I'm so upset that I didn't watch this for the first time until recently, but man, does it blow me away. From the constant use of "Fight the Power" to the brilliance of Danny Aiello and Ossie Davis playing off of Spike Lee's best script, I can't believe I had never found a way to watch this. It's a movie so good that you can even justify Spike Lee being a main character in the respect of how he plays off the cast he's assembled or at the very least you learn to get used to it.

Goodfellas -- The best version of The Wolf of Wall Street there ever was with the added bonus of two all-time phenomenal actors bouncing off of each other instead of say Jonah Hill (not to throw too much shade).

Heathers -- As far as a dark comedy goes, this one hits the most. There is so little empathy for anyone outside of the main protagonist's reach and yet it's much more bleak that the one who is in her reach isn't an amazing crusader for social change, either. Christian Slater's character more just wants to watch the whole American school system burn. Also did the gallows humor where people that die suddenly become much better of a person than they really are and did it amazingly.

Robocop -- Glorious satirical violence mixed with a shocking empathy for the main character. Great if I want violence, but much better because of everything else around it.

There's a few others I might add. I'll list them and see if I have anything to say about them later: Back to the Future, Drive, Short Term 12, Winter's Bone, others I'm probably forgetting but that's probably not a good sign for a favorites list anyway.

  13. Sweet holy hell, how have I only started listening to Comedy Bang Bang right now!?

I don't know, but I have especially loved what I've heard this week. Bobby Moynahan's Time Bobby saga just gets more and more absurd by the second and it's funny as hell.
