  1. Agreed. It feels like a misguided attempt at doing another Andy/April romance and it's not necessary. There's no real chemistry there, unlike Santiago and Peralta where I buy it.

Also clearly misses dat Boyle/Gina potential WHAT WHAT

  2. Universe is a whole lot more glitchy this year.

It is, but there's ways to work around it in a manner that makes it more rewarding than the previous year's installment. All rivalries should be put to 4 weeks and it's pretty accurate (and seems to actually understand title matches on regular shows if you don't have PPVs ticked).

  3. Fuck James Blake. I do actually enjoy dubstep's potential to be played with as a form, but as minimalist knockoff Michael McDonald? Not my bag.

(And I realize that is an artist and not a band, but I enjoy most of the music that's hyped to me. And I still feel a bit shunned by that time I didn't like a Ty Segall record.)

  4. On the above note, St. Vincent's new album is just outstanding. As good a listen at first glance as her other records and I don't really see the scattered arguments that this record is overly similar to her other records. I mean, I guess it is, but with a virtuoso guiding the way, even similar songs sure as shit can sound just as haunting as her previous work. And oh god does it.

  5. Anyone played cook, serve, delicious?

I almost wrote a diary about it. It is wonderful.

It is really fun and addictive.

Speaking of addictive, awful lot of people buying beer at like ten in the morning. I guess my restaurant is in EWBLand.

EDIT: I'm at two stars! I sell mostly soup, salad, beer, and lasagna, so I guess I'm some sort of frat guy Italian restaurant or something?

I'm less addicted to it, but it's a pretty fun game. Need to find something that isn't snack based, though.

  6. It was worth repeating what Hobo said, Kong.

It really does. Hadley is a so terrible and Jowsky is a non-entity. At least when Jerrid Foiles was there he'd add something!

Admittedly, as far as I know without Hadley there would be no Radiodrome (Brad started it but Hadley took it over). I imagine an awful lot of people stop listening once they hear "Brad isn't here today..." - I know I do (unless it's an episode where Jillian or Diamanda Hagan fill in)

Yeah, thirded. It doesn't help that no matter if Brad is or isn't on the episode, Josh will usually spend a decent chunk of time offhandedly continuing to mention "Well, Brad is here, now people are listening" as if it's a damn shock that the guy with the super successful web show is the draw for the audience.

As for podcasts I'd recommend, I'll think about that for a minute. There's a lot of them.

  7. Merh, I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up on the Universe Mode stuff. It's not that being similar to last year irks me. That's more than fine. Last year's mode, while goofy, was where I started to see where the potential was for the mode. But the additions to this year are basically nil. Get ready for endless reports of "Rival A and Rival B are really in an intense feud!" for ages. The big flaw to address is that there should have been a more valid tier system in that some feuds play out over endless TV matches, others come to a head on PPV without any TV matches before it. It's still so goofy and wrong that say a Brock Lesnar wrestles say R-Truth on Main Event constantly, whether you have had them as rivals or not.

I mean, at least 30 Years of Wrestlemania mode is pretty interesting (albeit limited in its own right). And I also didn't get the benefit of the creation thing since I rented it. I may buy it if it gets on a Black Friday sale, but my expectations have gotten pretty tempered.

  8. I've warmed to Queen. As people who pay attention to these threads might remember, I used to absolutely detest them. Now, I don't take music quite as seriously as I once did and while they're often not my cup of tea, I admit that they have their moments. Surprised to see them so low, as they generally seem to do well on here, if I remember correctly.

I'd like to think Skummy saw the "Don't Stop Me Now" scene in Shaun of the Dead and was like "Dammit, now I want to sing along to this."

  9. Masters of Sex wasn't too bad, but oh sweet jesus:

Ethan going from being a harmful asshole to being a degrading harmful asshole is just stepping into beyond cartoonish. Sure, he feels awful about pouring whiskey on the breasts of the provost's daughter. Sure, we're well aware of the inherent sexism in his character, a la Mad Men. But he's clearly just a toxic tonal shift to a show that has far more interesting and complex characters. Shit, even the addition of Virginia's most recent ex-husband was an interesting shift, as he had both likable and awful qualities. Ethan's clearly trying to be their take on Pete Campbell, but it's not working at all, and really hurts the ep.

  10. Yeah, the ratings aren't the greatest so it is a little troublesome but given the pedigree both in front of the camera and behind it, Fox may be giving it a longer leash than they did with a show that didn't have either of those like Ben and Kate.

And I would hope they see what poor scheduling they've done with it, since I imagine leading in with Dads and also putting it up against Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is much worse than say, having a New Girl lead-in and getting worse numbers, yes Mindy Project I'm talking to you.

  11. I'm watching Beavis and Butt-head Do America--one of the most underrated movies ever.

    It features this joke.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4XCZfkGF8k

It is my favorite movie joke ever probably.

The only two things I don't like in that movie are that the intro's joke of being a Shaft ripoff isn't as funny in hindsight and the cover of "Love Roller Coaster." That's it. The rest rules.
