  1. 15 cents away from 10 dollars purely from cards! It's been a long road. I have many people to thank.

I have a phenomenal $.88. I'm so proud that I might just give up saving for something big and buy Super Hexagon with the next card I get.

EDIT: We also have a recipient for the key! Thanks for playing!

  2. I imagine 2k wouldn't be too keen on jumping feet-first into the college football market until the player likeness thing goes away.

Yeah, considering that this year's edition prior to the lawsuits getting even remotely serious was being seen as a last chance to boost sagging sales, the market itself seems to be shrinking while the cost of production has risen exponentially. Not to mention, I feel like 2K has been sort of burned by their past negotiation tactics, namely overpaying for MLB coupled with not making a football game for the past several years. It's an awful lot to start at the ground floor with a license these days. I don't think they take that risk at all.

  3. My Steam Profile (from SteamDB)

    • Worth: $986.29
    • Games owned: 84
    • Games not played: 53
    • Percentage: 63%
    • Hours spent: 68.0h

Very curious. Very very curious. A lot of these hours are actually taking into account my sister's computer, where I install like everything on. She plays Sims 3 A LOT.

  4. If anybody wants to trade, I don't think I'll play any of these non-Walking Dead Telltale things I got from their Humble Bundle. I have the third Sam and Max series, Back to the Future, Hector, and Wallace and Gromit. I'll trade for whatever game you don't mind being rid of.

EDIT: Err, ignore. I don't understand Steam things.

  5. So, bit of a longshot, but does anyone want a copy of Risen for Steam? I just noticed I have a copy of it to send as a gift and wouldn't mind getting rid of it.

Sure, why not, if this offer is still on the table?

    Yep. What's your Steam name?

My screen name on Steam is just ROC. I'm in the Extreme Warfare Battleground group, if that makes it easier to find.

  6. Small-squad turn-based tactical with unit RPG elements. The game has a variety of enemies which really alters your tactical approach to most missions.

I played the demo, loved it, and immediately bought the full game. I strongly recommend the demo - worst case, you're out a little bandwidth.

It's a social experiment in seeing how people deal with loss even in such trivial circumstances as virtual people being attributed with the names of the players real life friends, family and/or colleagues.

Never before has someone been so desperate for Ruki to survive.

Both of these things, yeah. It helps that it is easier to get the hang of than the original games it is based on. There's a tutorial mission (which also serves as the game's defacto opening) that makes things very clear so that you can just go out and move your units and kill aliens.

  7. What do you mean by in-game video?

When you open up a game, Rece Davis does a little bit of introduction and then it cuts to a short little highlight deal about the home team. It's not much, but it is sort of like the NBA 2K13 intros when you start a game. It's nice.

  8. So, has anyone played this on Season Ticket? I've found myself really enjoying it quite a bit. If money wasn't so impossibly tight, I'd even pick it up. The interface is much better. I don't know if anyone considered it a massive problem in 13, but it's much improved, definitely taking cues from how 2K does their interface for the NBA games. Only complaint is that the skill trees are a bit goofy. You sort of realize that if everyone has the same sort of skill tree improvements, it really doesn't do anything but pad the numbers up. I don't know how there would be a massive improvement to it without breaking realism, but I think they can make the system a bit more rigid. Otherwise, no real complaints. Oh, also the in-game video is pretty sick. Another nice improvement a la the NBA games.

  9. The weird thing about Pearl Jam's self-seriousness is that Eddie seems to be more mellowed about things in recent years. I still remember his bit from Portlandia which sort of played on the absurdity of his vocals in a loving manner and he also seems like a nice dude from what I see/hear of him in interviews and the like.

  10. Our Idiot Brother is probably one of the more charming movies I've seen in a long while. It says a lot that Paul Rudd can make a character that could easily turn into an annoying caricature into a sweet character whose presence makes the movie better when he's on screen.

  11. Random Lisa appearance!

I'm surprised less people are remarking on that actually. It made me giddy with delight.

The park where the outdoor stuff was shot was also used in Fatal Deviation. It is much more landscaped now though. Back then it was just a field that occasionally had fun fairs and cattle were let graze on it.

True Irish film history in our presence.

  12. I rewatched a lot of things when they came on TV, so I'll speed up to the first time viewing I had:

    Killer Joe

Unpleasant, but in a kind of intriguing way. The last third is genuinely insane (to the point that it actually kind of clouds what is a damn good Southern noir with a hint of comedy), but goddamn, Matthew McConaughey was great. Nice to see him express his range again, especially in a movie where he's a giant batshit bastard.
