  1. Wrestling is so dynamic, I don't blame them for having impossible commentary. The basketball games have it good - their commentary is based off something that moves at a predictable pace.

Not to mention, pushes start and stop at such a rapid pace in wrestling to where the commentary can sound very dated very quickly whereas basketball's season wraps up at a good enough point to properly analyze how good x player is (and basketball games are often about how great the players were last time out anyway).

  2. Is there anything to the rumor of Saban leaving after the national title game to try the NFL again? I mean, he's got a successor there already in Smart and he's got nothing left to prove win or lose, he's had the greatest 4 year run a coach can basically have. It's obvious the only reason Kirby Smart's stayed at Bama is to take the reigns whenever Saban leaves, which has led me to think that's sooner rather than later. Coaches in waiting never stay on board too long, look at Muschamp.

More too it than that, it was just his way out ;)

As for Saban, I don't think it's any more than media dipshits doing what they do best. He recently said this on the LeBatard Show:

"This has been a good thing for my family to be here," Saban said. "College football has been very good for us. The positive impact that you can have on these young men as players and as people, that's just something that we really enjoy and something that I learned about myself."

Pretty sure that sorority girl Saban's daughter beat up would not feel the same way. (Everyone else in Tuscaloosa pretty much feels the exact opposite, however.)

  3. The latest Brows Held High is a two parter on Melancholia, and what is more it is the 50th episode and nearly an hour long.

It's brilliant, just go spend some time with it.

Yeah, it's one of the reasons I like Oan's reviews. He always gets right the atmosphere of the movie he's talking about in a way that truly proves it's more than just riffing on a movie that can make one of these web reviews interesting.

  4. I've booked one 2 hour show with Revolution Australia Wrestling and it was such a chore that I'm starting to have doubts about buying the ga,e. It's possibly because they're a soap opera show so I couldn't do any matches over 10 minutes, but I ended up having to book 18 segments to get the show to the minimum of 120 minutes, and ended up with angles that just re-used the same people over again due to the lack of wrestlers on the roster.

I'll probably try with a different company tonight, hopefully it'll be a bit more enjoyable.

Wait, people don't book like 18 segments in a two hour show when they're doing soap opera/sports entertainment stuff in the game?

I'd recommend a pure wrestling company, although that has its booking pratfalls as well. I'm trying to test out how the auto-booker stuff works in a way, though.

  5. I'm pretty cool with Shawn not being there as a regular. It'd seem forced unless he had a job at the same school as Cory or something, in which case it'd seem a little contrived.

We're talking about the show where Mr. Feeny was so enamored with teaching a group of kids that he somehow went from teacher to professor.

  6. I want to reconcile the violence in your heart

I want to recognize your beauty is not just a mask,

I want to exorcise the demons from your past,

I want to satisfy the undisclosed desires in your heart

From Muse's "Undisclosed Desires." Although their lyrics have always had a bit of dumb wankery, this one song was the turning point where I wanted to vomit all over myself and the like. And had I not heard this song, I would be like "this thread is dumb" too. But god.

  7. The Off Script stuff is annoying.

Rock vs. Stone Cold? Easy. Edge & Christian vs. Acolytes? Fucking irritating. I thought they had found a decent balance, but these Off Script matches are just reversal, reversal, reversal, reversal, reversal, reversal, reversal, reversal, reversal, reversal, reversal, reversal, reversal, reversal, reversal, reversal, reversal, reversal, reversal, reversal, neckbreaker.

You can't have everything. You can't kiss a pretty girl and have a cool uncle. >_<

  8. Strictly metaphorical question, but is it fuckall annoying to deal with people on Facebook suddenly putting up the Stanford and Baylor logos for "GO BEAT THEM SO WE LUCK INTO THE DANCE" fever? Or am I just not doing fandom right? I like the Tide, but I'm not going to cheer for fucking Ivy League West and "not RG3 era" Baylor because I'm OMG WE NEEDS THE TITLE EVERY YEARZ.

  9. You can set what championships members of the roster will go for, I believe.

Yeah, I actually saw that. It's a pretty cool feature and certainly alleviates a lot of what Ticklez is bitching about.

  10. While I won't actually start it until the title dlc is released, I'm already trying to get my rosters set up. I plan on running modern era WWE, attitude era WWE, WCW, and ECW, with a different PPV every week. Of course the modern and attitude WWE rosters are pretty much set up, but I'm needing some help with the WCW and ECW brands. My WCW currently has 18 and my ECW has 11. I'd like to have at least 25 on each. I'll post the rosters I have for WCW and ECW below, feel free to make suggestions.

    WCW

    -Bill Goldberg

    -Booker T

    -Bret Hart

    -Chris Benoit

    -Chris Jericho

    -Dean Malenko

    -DDP

    -Eddie Guerrero

    -Hollywood Hogan

    -Jeff Jarrett

    -Kevin Nash

    -Paul Wight

    -Perry Saturn

    -Rey Mysterio

    -Ric Flair

    -Scott Hall

    -Scott Steiner

    -Sting

    ECW

    -Bubba Ray Dudley

    -Cactus Jack

    -D-Von Dudley

    -Justin Credible

    -New Jack

    -Raven

    -Rhino

    -Rob Van Dam

    -The Sandman

    -Tajiri

    -Tommy Dreamer

You're going to need more for the ECW one because if I remember right, it's 15 that's the minimum to have a major show. But yeah, I much like that idea. I'm trying to do that myself but with a Raw/Smackdown brand for both time periods, a WCW, and an ECW/NXT type brand.

  11. Still incensed that my created story locks up after the first match, and also incensed because I haven't seen a good created story. I downloaded an ECW one that was notable for spelling "Coperation" for the Corporation. Also, it had no matches. Just ten cutscenes that each took five seconds to load. Ugh.

  12. The joy of seeing Paramore make it that high and so many bursting into a rage about it :w00t:

Next year we get them to number one!

Aww, JohnnyPerfect working on "let's get this thing we like to #1, then everyone will be happy or really angry!" logic. I missed you and your love of really uninteresting ideas.

  13. and then they started spouting some Fox News shit and circlejerked over Sarah Palin so I immediately stopped.

When was this? I have absolutely zero recollection of that ever happening and I've listened to nearly every episode in the last couple years. I have to grit my teeth through certain things but they usually make some effort to be apolitical.

And really, it has to be expected that Clayton's going to not be negative towards someone that works at his own channel. That's the albatross of GBEC in that Clayton's Fox News ties do affect things a small bit of the time.

I have a lot of podcasts on backlog, so for brevity, I'll avoid the wrestling ones:

I've gotten really into the Indoor Kids (gaming), Jordan Jesse Go (general comedy discussion), and Stop Podcasting Yourself the most lately. They hit the sweet spot of being lively without being dumb. I'd put On The Stick, the ActionCast, the Flop House, and Radiodrome just a tier below (although on Radiodrome, I don't really want to listen when Brad's not on the show, since Josh is a bit insufferable without Brad's balance).

    And here's occasional listens:

    Aspect Radio

    Comedy Bang Bang

    International Waters

The Long Tide (which I host myself, but this is mainly to look back at a chat or make sure the sound isn't awful)

    Sklarbro Country

    Smartest Man in the World

    The Solid Verbal

    StarTalk

    Throwing Shade

    Totally Laime

    Who Charted

    Yo, Is This Racist

    1up's Retronauts

  14. I've gotta say, I'm really excited to actually try to make a story this time around. I'm working on the rise of Ryback, and made a Local Talent CAS for this purpose. There would be a few changes (namely, I can't really imagine I'd be able to fit in all of the names of Ryback's jobbers), but I like the idea of giving the user a rising arc up to the Punk Hell in a Cell match. I'm actually excited about it.
