  1. Yeah, this is just fucking atrocious. McNabb can't make a decent throw to save his life, and the defense is absolutely horrible. I know the Cardinals offense is good, but the defense is too. They can't stop the run, and the coverage is awful. Fucking horrible. Eagles are showing why we've had no faith in them all year.
  2. As a diehard Eagles fan, I am rooting for an All-Pennsylvania Super Bowl. I don't like the Steelers, at all, but I fear them less than I fear the Baltimore Ravens. We've beat Pittsburgh already this season, and I think our defense can stop Willie Parker better than the combined efforts of McGahee and McClain. Plus, our D could wreak havoc on that o-line and Big Ben. We'd force turnovers on Big Ben trying to make a throw, while Flacco doesn't try to force as much. I think the eagles have a great chance to win today, but it's going to be a damn tough match. Arizona's defense is red hot right now, and well, clearly the offense will be tough to stop. I'm just lookign forward to a great day in football.
  3. FUCK CHELSEA! Bunch of lucky bastards. Beautiful strike by Lampard, but fuck Chelski.
  4. Rory fucking Delap. Oh damn, if Stoke somehow holds this upset... fucking amazing.
  5. So glad to see this one come. I was calling Gruden to get the can after they flopped the Oakland game. Fitting too, that Oakland is the team that ensured he would get shitcanned. Gruden did nothing in Tampa. He won a Superbowl with Dungy's players, and has done nothing since. He's kept with those core players for almost the entire way, and hasn't upgraded throughout. Where have his standout draft or free agent signings been? Gaines Adams has a chance; Cadillac is proving himself a bust by his inability to stay healthy. Davin Joseph is a solid guard and Barrett Rudd is a hard worker. But really, I just don't see what Gruden has brought to the Bucs during his stint to improve the team.
  6. Did anyone else notice that on 3rd & long from inside their own 2 yard line on that last drive, Joe Flacco really appeared to have stepped on the back line of the end zone before he threw? Me and my roomate both saw it and were callign for the safety, but it never happened. Sadly, no replay was shown either. Anywho, I can't believe Zona is up. Fitzgerald is a beast, and two big mistakes by Delhomme. If the Cards can keep this up though, I'll be amazed. Eh, make it 17-7 Cardinals.
  7. Besides Fugitives in Heroes, Chuck. Seriously, this show is epic. Not enough people watch it. Solid writing, and great comedy mixed with action.
  8. The header by Dempsey was utterly beautiful, great goal. And great save by Schwarzer on the other end. Defintiely deserve this draw. Oh, and Diego Tristan gets an easy goal off a Cole rebound, and West Ham's up 2-1 <3
  9. Ouch, poor Arsenal. Fabregas goes down in the first half, and Adebayor gets sent off on a horrible 2nd yellow card midway through the second. They'll be lucky to hold the draw for the next 20 minutes.
  10. Spoiler: Click here to viewI was a big fan of most of last night's episodes. The only thing I was not a big fan of was Nathan's total 180. I have no problem with him being evil, but going from wanting to give everyone abilities to wanting everyone with abilities rounded up? Uh, that makes no sense at all. Plus, by taking away people with abilities - the people, according to him, who can help defeat the evils of the world - contradicts everything about his prior stance.
  11. Yes, but you have to take into consideration that in games Turner has had to deal with the box being stacked against him and such. While I believe Matt Ryan has been phenomenal and will continue to develop and prosper as a quarterback, a fair bit of his success can be attributed to Michael Turner opening up the passing game and giving Ryan the option to hit Roddy White on the playaction, something we've seen produce touchdowns time and time again this year.
  12. Most definitely not. Matt Ryan has been spectacular as a rookie and played well, but you have to give Michael Turner a plethora of credit for opening up Ryan's passing game. Michael Turner, to me, has been much more valuable to Atlanta than Matt Ryan.
  13. That just seems stupid to me. Kid's got some skill and is going to be the starting QB next year. Now instead, he'll be sitting out. Horrible idea by Devlin.
  14. While I agree if internationals flood the MLS then the focus of the American player goes down, but on the flip side, apart from having more talent in the league, the more development the American players can have. If they can bring in enough international talents to help develop the players while keeping the ratio balanced, then I can see it being successful. The American soccer players are not as skilled as the premier soccer nations. When we played Spain and England, we were outclassed on every level. We need the younger MLS players to get tutelage from Beckham, Blanco, Schletteo, and other international players with more skill and knowledge of the game, while players overseas (Dempsey, Guzan, Bradley, Altidore, Adu, Edu, etc.) can learn from the vast amount of skilled and experienced players there. The salary cap, I agree, has been vital to keeping MLS afloat in its early stages. But as the league grows more profitable and successful, lesser restrictions need to be put in order. Before this can happen though, all the teams need to have private, financially fit owners. Right now, I believe MLS still owns 2 of the active teams (no clue which two, can't remember at all), but once those 2 teams have owners that have some money to them, then, lesser restrictions so there is more of an equal playing field. The thing I still think MLS needs the most is better TV coverage. I know they get a guaranteed Thursday night game on ESPN 2 and a Saturday night game on Fox Soccer Channel. They might have a Saturday or Sunday game on ESPN2, but I'm not sure. However, FSC is only on certain satelite/dish deals, so that isn't easily and openly accessible to people; not a lot of viewers there. ESPN2 gives them access, but not enough. Apart from Thursday, they need to push to get a guaranteed timeslot for Saturday (mid-afternoon or early evening) and Sunday (Sunday early-afternoon). More coverage, more revenue, more profits, more prestige. MLS is finally getting paid for coverage instead of having to pay for their games, which is awesome (just ask Paul Heyman). However, despite it being a monumental step, it's only the first.
  15. Bradley lit it up last year at Heerenveen, and while the the Netherlands League isn't an elite league, it is respectable. He's only 21 and does have some talent, to be fair. For the MLS, the first thing they need to do is get rid of the tight restrictions on the salary cap. That is a terrible idea, in my opinion. It's not bad to have a salary cap, but theirs is too strict. Football is a business, and if players can't get decent wages, they won't want to come to America to play. Also, they should not put a limit on the amount of international players that a team can have. That's a terrible idea to have. It restricts non-Americans from coming into the MLS, and it prevents the league from getting more mainstream and worldwide exposure. The designated player is a good idea and a step in the right direction, as has been said, but will eventually have to be done away with in time once more talented stars want to come. Also, they need to get a better TV deal. They get, what, one game a week on ESPN2? Not very good for mainstream viewership, if you ask me.
  16. That may be a good thing for the college kids, depending on how you look at it. The Lions, since this is the team we're talking about, has a host of players who already "made it" to the big league, are getting comfortable contracts, etc. The college kids are there on scholarships, playing for a school's pride and tradition, and the chance to get to the NFL. The college team would have more passion, more fight in them than a lowly team like the Lions. You don't have to be the best team to win a football game, and sure, talent wise, the Lions probably have better overall talent than Texas, Oklahoma, or Florida. But those 3 teams have more heart and team chemistry than a team like Detroit. That could easily help them on their way to victory. Also, the Lions... can't play defense well to save their lives. Sam Bradford and Colt McCoy would be able to rip that secondary apart, imo.
  17. The Eagles have been absolutely dominating the Giants all day, and yet, I sadly doubt they're going to end up winning. McNabb has been pretty good all day, especially since he's without his top 2 wide receivers, again; Westbrook has been a work horse today and is playing great. The offensive line, however, is doing excellent. No sacks given up, and blocking well. The defense, again, excellent. They've shut Manning down, and are doign enough to stop the run. And of course, the beloved special teams. Akers can hit a 51 yard field goal, but can't hit two easy field goals. ...Oh shit, and just like that, 17-7! McNabb pulls a play out of his ass, and Westbrook burns his man. Whew.
  18. Florida's up 11 with under 3 minutes to go, and it looks like they're heading to the National Title. You gotta love Tebow for the inspirational effect he has on his team, and he has played a damn great game, but my God am I sick of these CBS announcers jerking off to him. Tebow is an excellent quarterback, and the leader of the team, but he has a great cast around him. He's made some excellent throws today (see that last drive on the fade to Murphy), but his guys have played wonderful (see Hernandez's leaping catch on the next play and subsuqeuently holding onto the ball while taking a good hit, and Nelson's catch for the first TD).
  19. How can you even mention ugly footballers from Argentina and not mention Maschereno? He looks like the spawn of an orge and a goat.
  20. Even when healthy, Gabbidon isn't of value. Collins and Davenport both would be given playing time before Gabbidon. Neill isn't a bad back, but he's too expensive and Zola doesn't seem to want him, dropping him out of the squad even when healthy. So long as you keep Noble and Bowyer, Mullins is exendable, although it could be debated which man is of more value, Bowyer or Mullins. As for Cole, I just think he's a waste. He's so frustrating to watch, and just horrid. I'd rather see Freddie Sears get playing time than Cole. If Zola is going to sign Di Michele and Tristan, he should use them for now and sent Cole packing. You are right about Ashton; he's too injury prone. However, I love him and he's solid when he's fit. I have a soft spot for him thanks to FIFA
  21. I am definitely fearing this January for West Ham. I'm not sure if the financial situation has improved at all since the last month or so, but I highly doubt it. I know Rob Green went to the owner to plead with him not to sell a bunch of the players & keep the team together, but I can definitely see it happening. Green, Upson, Parker, Bellamy, and Ashton are 5 players I could all see leaving either in January or the summer. And if that happens, Championship here we come. What we need to do is trim the fat like Hayden Mullins, Gabbidon, Boa Morte, Carlton Cole, and Lucas Neill. Will any of that happen? I highly doubt it.
  22. I don't what team he goes too, so long as Podolsi comes to England, I'll be happy. I think he's a great player and has been shafted at Bayern. I just want to see him in the EPL and in a regular starting role.
  23. While most teams rank them #1 in the power rankings, read their actual columns. If you ever read a NFL column at sportsline, the Titans are constantly labeled as an unproven team, and the Giants are the best team in the NFL; hell, one guy just wrote that the Titans would lose 30-10 to the Giants on a neutral field. Fact is, the Titans don't get their due, and people fail to see that their style is not to blow teams out. It's a sound defensive effort, solid special teams play, and mistake free offense that wins them game. That is not a formula for a high-scoring team. Also, what are people's thoughts on Herm Edwards' call to go for 2 against the Chargers? I've seen it both praised and brutally criticised by the media, but I think it was the right call. You're 1-7, and if the Chargers get the ball first in OT, you're probably going to lose the game. And finally, it is time for Andy Reid to be fired. His playcalling and decision making is horrific. Last night as the second game he cost the Eagles by trying to run the football instead of putting it in McNabb's hands with the game on the line. He blew the Bears game, and when the Eagles had a chance to drive to victory, Reid killed them. He had a great run, but he has slipped up so much in recent years that he needs to go.
  24. I am truly hating Zola's appointment as manager. I think we're 2-1-5 since he took over, and the players look so unmotivated on the pitch. They looked and played a lot better under Curbs, in my opinion. Against his pushing for Tristan as well; wasted money as there's no need for another striker, especially one who is already 32. Add on that his 4-3-3 is failing miserably, and meh, we're falling down the shitter.
